  1. I have really REALLY liked the look of these. I am very envious!
  2. I've been spending quite a bit on tuition, that's been brilliant. I'm really pleased to have been helping support musicians while working on my theory and technique, it's also been really great talking music and bass with people who know and care!
  3. I'm about to tackle this - gonna take the rest of the year for me to get to the same point as you!
  4. Hi, sorry - my bad, this went ages ago. I'll change the item description.
  5. Sold Moldsight a bass cab, very friendly, great communication, whole transaction went like a dream. Many thanks for the purchase!
  6. Bought an Ibanez SR505 from psycoandy and today I’ve taken my first steps into 5-string bass playing. Andy had some trouble with the courier (given the current global crisis I’m not surprised) but kept me in the loop and has been great to deal with. One happy punter here. Thanks!
  7. Thanks, this is really helpful. Much appreciated. I *think* the bass came strung with D'darios, and there was a nice "thump" with the attack, and I just happened to have some Rotosounds hanging around so I fitted them and they are very disappointing. The Elites seem good value, I'll try a set. Cheers!
  8. Right, okay, interesting - is it your opinion it's the change of make of string or the different gauge or both? Another question - how different is the feel, playing heavier gauge?
  9. Did you find the same problem? Nasty overtones on the 4th string? What did you switch to?
  10. Well, I'm not desperate to sell, I just want the space really. It'll be around for a few weeks again.
  11. Yeah. Well... I've been playing Rapture for weeks and weeks. WRONG! I actually think that the version I've been playing is a bit harder but now I'm going to have to re-learn since I actually looked up the tab - though in my defence I picked up the mistake from YouTube. Next... Boys And Girls by Blur - very repetitive, easy to learn, but getting it fluid and clean will take a bit of practise https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/blur/boys-and-girls-bass-17777
  12. Usually I love the sound of new strings but this Jazz I've got, well, it's hard to tell really. It's been so long since I played with other musicians it's kind of pointless as I've no idea how it sounds in a mix. Sounds good with a cheap USB/Instrument cable going into garage band but I've not pursued that much really. I ought to...
  13. I've been playing Rapture by Blondie - getting those 16th notes raking down strings has been a challenge https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/blondie/rapture-bass-17043
  14. Well, as the strings have bedded in the E has lost a bit of the nasty harmonic ring. I won't be buying Rotos again though, think I'll try D'darios.
  15. That is one of the most 80s things I've seen in a long time! Enjoy...
  16. Just bought this: My other half's gonna kill me...
  17. Hi. Nice bass - would you be interested in taking a GK 2x10" cab in part ex?
  18. Argh. Hope not. I just had a set of DR High beans with a duff 1st string. The d’darios on before were rounds and they were okay.
  19. Thanks. I’ve done a good couple of hours practise though and it’s still dissonant. Hopefully it’ll naff off in a few days.
  20. I've just changed the strings on my MIJ Jazz. I don't know what was on before, they came with the bass when I got it - the guy said D'Arrios - pink thread around the top. The 4th string on these new Rotosound '66s sounds like it has a really unpleasant harmonic ring to it that didn't seem to be there before. The pickups aren't too close, and I've tried moving them further away in case and it's made no difference. Anyone else found this? Maybe it'll go away once they're played in a bit. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. TBH I wasn't too bothered about the Rotosounds anyway, I've heard they can cause neck trouble further down the line but I had them hanging around - not going to get them next time, for sure. Cheers!
