  1. Yeah, I think that I need to bring a whole range of techniques into play. I'm not trying anything wootenesque but there are some absolutely delicious Larrry Graham lines that need open strings to ring out - Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself has an open E while playing a few octaves higher so on an 5 string keeping the B from ringing out is a pain...
  2. Yeah, this is what I'm doing - reaching over with the thumb for some sections then extending the index finger across at others I think the really tricky maneuvre is switching from one to the other. I'm also using the flesh of my palm to touch on the B and E strings when I can just to temporarily cut of any ringing. I'm a bit of a stickler for muting so it's driving me a bit mad! I guess it's just practise but man it feel fiendish...
  3. Good tip. Thanks.
  4. You've got to be a frigging octopus!!! Honestly... Gaaaaaahhhhhh! Absolutely no problem with fingers - floating thumb. Pick, bit more difficult but I've got it down but I'm in my early days of slap and I think I'm gonna have to put down the Dingwall and get back on the 4-string for a while. Anyone else get frustrated with ringing strings when slapping? And I can't really resort to one of those wrap things as some stuff needs open strings to ring out...
  5. Bought a gig bag - super transaction, very good to deal with, I'm very happy. Thank you Graham!
  6. It's in the way now so I'm gonna offer it up for a few days at £50. If nobody takes it I'll put it on ebay. Bought this a couple of months ago to see how I’d get on with a strat and now I’ve swapped my SG for a MIJ Stratocaster and this one is spare. It’s in excellent condition, just been shod with a new set of EB Slinkys and trem arm included. Happy if you want to collect it or have original box if you’d like to arrange courier at your own cost and risk. Selling for the same price I paid for it.

  7. Oh my god, yes - it coudl be Richard Kniss though. Looks he played all their session work though he was on upright but looks like him from what I can find.
  8. He's down on the credits according to Wikipedia... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Too_Much_of_Nothing I mean, it's phenomenal whoever it is but it'd make sense.
  9. I've long loved this version of Too Much Of Nothing by Peter, Paul and Mary but only now listened to it properly. Oh my word - the bass playing is out of this world Stellar performance by Rick Danko of The Band.
  10. Naah. I just don’t gel with the scale length, balance, neck radius. It’s just not me. I should have admitted it before spending hundreds on pickups and mods
  11. **Will take £475 or trade for the right S-Type guitar** Right. Finally faced up to the fact that I'm not an SG kind of player. Yes, I think it's the coolest guitar ever but having spent a bit of time with a Strat I have had to come to terms with the truth that I'm a single-coil kinda guy - I like clean sounds, I play chords not lead and this thing is wasted on me so time to pass it on. I bought it in 1997 and since then I've replaced the pickups with a DiMarzio PAF Pro and a Seymour Duncan JB, I also got luthier of some repute Jeff Beer to fit coil taps and dress the frets and he did say it was a good example of an SG. I'm also including the leather strap with locks and the original tuners (it's got locking ones now). It's been played and has a few knocks and scratches but the action is lovely and it sounds great - there's the usual Gibson line along the fretboard but the neck/body joint is fine as you can see in the pics and it's never been repaired. I'd much rather someone picked it up in person but I've got a box to pack it up and it'll come in a gig bag if you want to arrange a collection at your own risk. Any questions give me a shout. I'll miss this one but it's time it got the kind of playing it deserves.
  12. I bought a guitar from Keith and the process went like a dream! He was excellent about communicating, made sure it got collected by the courier and packed it up beautifully- really, superb packaging! I’m a very happy indeed. Recommend without hesitation.
  13. I had one of these. Can confirm it’s heavy but absolutely amazing sounding and bombproof.
  14. Could be anything. Maybe even a laminate of plastic on a sheet of plastic. Who can tell?
  15. Do they sound transparent though?
  16. I mean, walking on stage with THAT!!! I think the only way to top it would be one of them would be a Gus http://www.gusguitars.com/product.php?model_id=6
  17. Absolutely amazing thing... https://thebassgallery.com/collections/bass/products/dan-armstrong-lucite
  18. That's a VERY good price. I know they've refined things a bit since then but I doubt you'd tell much of a difference without being able to play it against a new one back-to-back. The only thing I'd say is that if you wanted to upgrade to the 3-pickup model it may be more tricky, but personally my go-to tone is both on a-la-Jazz with both pickups on full.
  19. bump. I've got one of these. Nice amp.
  20. Totally! If you’ve got it how you like it then keep the thing. Well done…
  21. The bassist for George Clinton’s funkadelic was running one of these through an Aguilar 8x10. Mucho good!
  22. You what?! You want to Les Claypool? Are you mad? Is that even possible? He's not human, you know.
  23. Hey. So they lost the compass that month. So what?
