1. I use an active monitor (well, a pair) for home practice. I do like the results, but as already said, I doubt the volume would be enough.
2. I emailed him and he said he can get pau ferro for me if I can wait. Nice.
3. $180 shipped. Half of the german new price. edit: that's around 90 pounds.
4. Awesome! I've been looking to get some wooden knobs for my Dingwall and I was ready to pay the $125 plus shipping (IIRC) they ask for... I'm sure the dingwalls are better quality, but the price difference is incredible and I'm sure these are fine as well... after all it's mainly a visual touch, so if I can do it on the cheap then great! BTW, which are the usual shafts? 6mm or 1/4"?
5.
I wish - tried that but to no avail, got it delivered to London then courier to Tripoli, £130 for the courier fees!
Ouch! That's almost as much as the amp itself... couldn't you get some other brand locally for around that money?
6. Well, just spoke with the store again, they still have them in stock... the guy I talked to was wrong.
7. They are out of stock, they just haven't updated their site (or so they told me on the phone). I ordered one over a month ago. Two weeks later, nothing had showed up, I sent an email. No reply. One week after that, another email, still no reply. Yesterday I finally called (I don't like to pay international calls if I don't have to) and they told me they are out of stock, that I should send another email and I would have an answer in 24 hours. Of course, a reply hasn't come yet... but there is hope. I'm just pissed off because I made the order in time (I guess, unless they haven't updated their site for THAT long), I paid instantly, nothing came and there were no replies to my emails... I guess I can only hope for a refund now.
8. Well, just measured it... It might just fit, or might not fit by a little. My bet is it doesn't fit, but I won't be surprised at all if it does. I would email Sadowsky and ask about it, they might have tried it or know someone who does exactly that (I bet you're not the first one to think of it!).
9. Sure, just give me some time to find the LMii dimensions.
10. I'll probably get a Little Big Muff first, since they're so cheap and I liked some samples I heard. If it doesn't work for me, it's GI Fuzz. @Clunge: for a synthy sound, you probably want something with bias control. I've heard a nice muse-y sound from a Flying Tomato, but I would guess you can get similar results with a GI Fuzz.
11. As Marcus said, it's only a preamp. It's exactly like having an Aguilar OBP-1 onboard preamp in your bass, only you don't need to make new holes or have a professional install it, as it's just a pedal, you go from the bass into the DB-924 and then from that to the amp. It's an 18V 2-band preamp. Here is the Musik Schmidt page where you can see more info and the new price: http://www.musik-schmidt.de/osc-schmidt/ca...mp-p-15470.html If you're interested in a good DI, I also have a new Sansamp programmable BDDI for sale in another topic.
12. This is a great little preamp if you have a passive bass and want to make it active without drilling holes on it... It's basically Aguilar's OBP-1 in a box. I have the original box, but nothing more (no manual that is). It has a few scratches and velcro on the bottom, but works perfect. Sells for 269 euro plus shipping at the german dealer (musik schmidt), I'm selling this for $205 shipped through paypal or 150 euro with bank transfer (around 100 GBP). Will post pics later.
13.
Hard/semi plastic cases: INCASE - from the states, consdered the best thing between a hard and soft case on TalkBass, they have no UK distribution and only use expensive shipping so Bleedproof was looking at getting a large order together, but that's not been mentioned in a while. Hiscox - great UK manufacture, my personal preferance.
The Sadowsky Portabag falls in this category too. It's a lot like the InCase but lighter and possibly better designed. I have one and it's amazing. The total price including shipping wasn't that much either.
14. After I finished with my band rig (Glock HR+Double), I started thinking about a combo for home practice... Fortunately, I'm very happy with my new studio monitors that I bought to use as PC speakers. They're a pair of the discontinued (and amazing) Tascam VL-X5, which Thomann was (and I think still is) blowing out for 200 euro. Then I also bought a 4 channel "Tapco, designed by Mackie" mixer for 55 euro at musicstore.de, so I also have a headphone out whenever needed. It all cost me 250 euro and I'm getting a very clear, hi-fi sound which I find perfect for practice (and isn't too much different from my Glock rig). Of course, the monitors have very little (if anything) going on under 100 hz, so you can't mistake it for a proper bass amp as there is no deep bass, but I boost the bass a little on the mixer and it works fine for me - plus I don't shake the walls when I'm playing, so I can practice without annoying others much. I'm very happy with this stuff and it cost me much less than I was prepared to pay.
15. Is the bias on the GI Fuzz similar to the bias on the Subdecay Flying Tomato? Anyone have experience with both?
16. Yep, modern and industrial sounds exactly like what I'm after.
17.
Yeah you pm me with a does this work on an active and I tell you Other than that I've not really seen one I may have chance to write one in the future but its a long list of what doesn't work So just post here what you are looking at and I'll let you know. Cheers
Hm, Toasted told me that the Depth Charge doesn't work with active. Could you recommend a similar pedal that does? (I mean a smooth, thick fuzz that doesn't sound separated from the original signal - that's what I thought about the Depth Charge from samples anyway)
18.
OK, mystery might be solved - looks like we're getting hit by a search engine of some kind. Most of the "members" are guests who haven't logged in.
Yep, they're bots from search engines.
19. Yep, already heard those, but it's always nice to have more samples to get a better idea of what a pedal can do, plus I don't think the one heard on Dave's site has cryo tubes.
20. Thanks for the review (yes, I read all of it)! So, if I understand correctly the 2 channel configuration works like on the Fulltone Bassdrive? That is, if you push the second button it won't do anything unless the first button is pushed in as well? Any comparison between the Bassdrive and this one? Oh, and +1 for soundclips. You can host them at www.putfile.com .
I love the BDDI but i really wish it had a dedicated mid range control. It does really nail that scooped mid growl with a pbass though. tasty.
If you cut the bass and treble and boost the volume, you're boosting mids.
22. Well, all I can say is that the 102p combo is indeed very, very nice.
23.
It's called the Agro it's essentially the second channel in the AG500 head. It's not a preamp per sey but a rackmount distortion or second channel for your current setup.
Well, I think you can use it fine as a preamp, as long as you like the obviously dirtier sound (and I'm not sure, maybe you could even turn distortion down completely?).
