1. DB728 is ON HOLD, payment pending. DB680 is still available.
2.
Indeed. I own a DB680, playing through it now. Jah Wobble lines. I'd love to try the 728. I use mine with a QSC PLX 3102. Will you split?
Yes, I would split. My idea would be DB680: 950 GBP /1100 EUR DB728: 1250 GBP / 1500 EUR Both together with a large case: 2200 GBP / 2500 EUR Of course, shipping is extra, which could be a lot for the power amp. Not interested in trades, unless for old Fenders, Allevas, F Bass Fretless or something in that league, probably with cash your way. For a cash and pick-up sale, I would lower the price significantly - shipping these beasts is a nightmare.
3. Thanks, Jo. I am a bit surprised that these fantastic basses do not get more interest. Siggy Jaeger, the owner and builder of Human Base, is not only a master luthier (in fact, one of the best - if not THE best - in Germany in my opinion), he feels also 100% dedicated to his basses and provides TOP service. Lovers of single cuts should give this model a try. Well balanced and plays like a dream ... Price is negotiable. Would consider trades against a F Bass + cash either way.
4. And sold - pending payment. This is going to be returned to its original owner. I'm so happy that it will be in good hands :-) I will miss it.
5.
Is this the one you bought from me years ago ?
Hi Geert, no that one is offered in the other thread ...
6. Ken Smith BMT 5 Figured Walnut Top Specs: Top of the line Smith model from the 90s with 7pc body and 7pc neck (similar to the 25th Anniversary Model) BMT body shape Highly Figured Claro Walnut Top and Back Mahogany Core Macassar Ebony board 7pc Maple Neck with Bubinga Stripes 34 scale 18 mm spacing Latest Smith 3-bd BMT preamp (with DIP switches inside) with Push/Pull Passive switch on Volume Original Smith Pickups Original Smith Gold Hardware Weight: 4.5kg Birth year: 1996 An exceptional Smith in every aspect. BMT models have been built by Ken from 1993 until 1997 - This is one of the last BMTs built with the original BMT body shape before Ken moved to the BSR shape. Some wear and dings/dongs all over the body but as you can see in the pics nothing that makes this wonderful bass less desirable. Structurally the bass is in perfect working condition. Super fast and low action ! Frets are still in good shape. The electronics have been updated to the newer preamp version with the frequency switches inside. The amazing Walnut on this bass looks quite close to Figured Koa. Although the serial number defines it as Walnut. Ken is a master on wood and especially on Walnut - so I guess he knew what he has done at that time. Anyway the top and back have a warm, reddish, wonderful wood pattern that I have rarely seen on Walnut Smiths. These older BMT's have a real through neck. You can see the difference to newer models on the back: The newer Smiths have a soundblock laminated to the back of the neck, the older ones are produced completely through the back too. The reason for change is simple: the older version needs a lot more wood in ONE piece and much more effort to produce, the newer necks could be sawn out of smaller pieces. These less laminates open the sound of the Smith and reduce the compression which is often inherent to newer models. Compared to newer Smith models these older BMTs have a thinner neck profile which makes fast runs quite comfortable. SOLD
7. Ken Smith BMT 5 Flamed Maple Top Specs: Top of the line Smith model from the 90s with 7pc body and 7pc neck (similar to the 25th Anniversary Model) First BMT body shape Highly Figured Flamed Maple Top and Back Mahogany Core Macassar Ebony board 7pc Maple Neck with Shedua Stripes 34 scale 18 mm spacing Original Smith 3-bd BMT preamp with Push/Pull Passive switch on Volume Original Smith Pickups Original Smith Gold Hardware Weight: 4.4kg Birth year: 1993 An exceptional Smith in every aspect. BMT models have been built by Ken from 1993 until 1997 - This is one of the very first BMTs ever built. I owned >20 Smith Elite basses in the past 15 years and this one was among the first and survived them all. Bass has been played a lot but very well cared for. Some wear and dings/dongs all over the body but as you can see in the pics nothing that makes this wonderful bass less desirable. Structurally the bass is in perfect working condition. Super fast and low action ! Frets are still in good shape. These older BMT's have a real through neck. 8. Ken Smith Black Tiger Elite 6 - Crotch Walnut Top - SOLD ! Specs: Feather Crotch Walnut Top Figured Walnut Back Figured Macassar Ebony board Maple Core 34 scale 18 mm spacing Original Smith 3-bd BMT preamp with Push/Pull Passive switch on Volume and Serial/Parallel Switches Original Smith Pickups Original Smith Gold Hardware Weight: 4.9kg Birth year: 2007 A wonderful Smith 6-string - typical Black Tiger sound (more towards presence and bite due to the Maple core) with always nice Feather Crotch Walnut Top. Rarely played. 3-4 very small dings/dongs over the body but nothing to be shown in pics. Super fast and low action ! Very clean, No fading on the hardware. Everything works fine. Comes with non-original lightcase and strap. Bass is located in Germany / 40547 Duesseldorf. Asking 3.700 Euro / 3.140 GBP. No trades at the moment. 10. Still available. We could meet anywhere with a distance of up to 150 km from my home.
11. Thanks for all comments. I might consider shipping at buyer's risk. I am well known for quite careful packaging, so I would do my best. Although, the poweramp alone is really a heft. Also considering to split the units now for separate deals. I'm open for offers... let me know your thoughts.
12. Ken Lawrence C-Brase 6 Fretless, 35" Specs: * Chambered Alder body * Figured Myrtlewood top and headstock veneer * Eastern Hardrock Maple 35" scale neck * Ebony fretboard fretless with lines * Wenge rear cover plate * Seymour Duncan pickups in ebony covers * Ebony Knobs * Seymour Duncan 3-band electronics with Vol/Bal/B/M/T and coil tap switches * Hipshot hardware, gold * Dunlop dual function strap locks * Oil and wax finish * Fodera Stainless Steel strings * Original form fit bag - very nice Like new condition. Modest wear on the board from using roundwounds - but nothing noticable. Everything works fine. Superstraight neck with very low action. This bass provides a bunch of wonderful singing fretless sounds. Especially the B string is of noticable outstanding presence and definition. Ken makes about 20-25 basses per year and these cost a heck of a money new. Even Vinnie Fodera mentioned Ken Lawrence as one of the best luthiers in the world. SOLD
13. SOLD Kenneth Lawrence ChamberBrase I - 6 / 33 Specs * Chambered Alder body * Figured Myrtlewood top and headstock veneer * Eastern Hardrock Maple 33" scale neck with Walnut "Heeltone Plate" * Premium African Snakewood fretboard , knobs , and "switch plates " * Wenge rear cover plate * Nordstrand Split coil "J" pickups * Mike Pope 4 band preamp * Hipshot hardware, black * Dunlop dual function strap locks * Oil and wax finish * Fodera Stainless Steel strings * Estrella gig bag - very nice, in black 2012 list is right around $11K USD, IF a piece of Snakewood wide enough for a fretboard can be found. Delivery for a new order is right around 2 years right now. MINT condition. I bought this bass last summer as new from Dan Lenard / LAG and played it only for a few hours at home. I simply don't have enough time to practice and play 6-stringers - even if it is a joy like with this one. Zero wear ! Everything works fine. Superstraight neck with very low action. The Myrtle top together with the reddish (and uber rare) Snakewood boards makes a breathtaking look. The sound is of an unbelievable clarity with an open and crispy steelstring guitar flavour in it - but as a deep bass. The scale is a comfortable 33", but you won't believe the clariness and deepness of THIS B string. It is completely on par with the E string, clearly defined and really Piano-like. I've heard a similar B string only from 2 36" scale Foderas which I had in my house ! Ken makes about 20-25 basses per year and these cost a heck of a money new. Even Vinnie Fodera mentioned Ken Lawrence as one of the best luthiers in the world. SOLD
14. Hi all, Thanks for your kind comments. I have just thrown my eyes on a particular bass. So I am looking for a straight and quick sale and reduce the price to 1.800 GBP / 2.000 Euros plus shipping from Germany as long as that bass is available.
15.
No trades?
Look at the end of the original post - I'm open to offers, but don't be disappointed if I say NO as I already own too much equipment. Not interested in amplifiers, cabs or other gear, only basses or high end acoustics.
16. Of course I know :-) But this wonderful forum is frequently visited by German, Dutch, Belgium, French, whatever players and may be one of them is interested - who knows ... there is also some chance that I will do a trip to UK in the next months so let's see...
17. I am considering to part with the ultimate tube amp warship. This extraordinary pre/power combo is long discontinued and a rare find now. Both units are in top condition. Preamp tubes are higher grade Tesla / JJ and Philips, Power tubes are Svetlana winged-C - All of them brand new installed and biassed at Paul's Bassmatters in Nijmwegen. The units are covered by an oversized flightcase (with a very deep back door). The footswitch for the DB680 is included. This rack is HEAVY ! So I do not consider shipping. The package is located in Duesseldorf/Germany. DB728 is sold. Will offer the DB680 separately.
18. I'm selling my just received Fodera NYC EMPIRE Deluxe 5 - world-class Jazz Bass clone with Fodera quality, but I'm looking for something different. The Specifications are as follow: * Fodera Empire NYC 5 Deluxe * Birth Year: 2004 * Model: NYC 5 Deluxe * Top Wood: Quilted Maple * Body Wood: Alder * Finish: Translucent Green, Matching Headstock * Fingerboard: Rosewood * Neck Wood: 3-pc. Hard Rock Maple * Headstock: Angled (similar to the "big" Foderas, not flat like on the Standards) * Neck Joint: Bolt-on * Scale Length: 34" * Strings: 5 * Frets: 21 (Large) * FB Inlay: Pearl Dots * Hardware: Gold (incl. knobs) * Pickups: Fodera / Duncan J/J Single Coils * Pickup positions: 70s Jazz Bass * Preamp: Specially designed and built Mike Pope Circuit w/Master Volume/Master Tone (passive) stackpot, blend, bass cut-boost, treble cut-boost, passive switch * Contr. Layout: NYC * Weight: 4.6 kg * String Spacing at bridge: Adjustable 18.5 - 19.5 mm * Case: Noname lightweight case * Retail Price 2011: $4.250,- (now discontinued) The bass has some small dings here and there, but nothing to be shown in pics, neck is flawless, frets in very good condition, All electronical and mechanical parts are working flawless. Truss rod works fine and the screw turns quite easy, tuning machines are turning smooth and even. The board is a wonderful piece of Indian Rosewood with attractive grain. The body and headstock are painted in a translucent green finish which doesn't hide the beautiful quilted maple underneath. The gold plating on the Fodera bridge is a bit faded on the bass side. A transparent pickguard is currently mounted, but I will throw in a black 3-ply guard as well.
