  1. As far as I am concerned you are the troll here, and your reply was exactly as far out as my response to it. And you know it!
  2. Great point! How about the owner(s) of this forum donated the money used to run it to research in cancer instead. After all could we all live with basically being responsible for people dying, just because we enjoy discussing bass? How can people defend using money of a paid membership to this forum, or new music equipment for that matter, when people are actually dying because of it?
  3. Seems like i haven't mentioned yet that I actually got a doom/stoner rock project going myself, named "all I nil". A solo project where the core main instrumentation will be a tenor bass (that is a bass tuned to A standard tuning, like the 4 upper strings on a 6 string bass in regular B standard tuning), programmed/played via a weighted keys midi keyboard drums/percussion, and then vocals, with some more sparingly used additional, flavor oriented, programmed and physically played instrumentation added. So far I got 7 more, but mostly less, traditional regular stoner/doom songs, and then an additional 4 more folky instrumentals, where almost all the bass parts and the form of the songs is in place, that just needs to be recorded down and then having drums and additional instrumentation added. This is the "amp-less" setup that I use for this project: But planning to at some point add an EHX Attack Decay, an EHX Freeze at some point, as well as a TC Electronic Ditto X4 looper, and then possibly an EHX Bass9 (to be able to play lower than A1), and possibly some of the other EHX 9 pedals as well, mainly interested in the B9, Mel9 and Synth9. And I should add treating my tenor bass as sort of a hybrid bass/guitar in terms of how and what I play on it, as well as I make use of a slide, obviously for slide guitar/steel guitar like stuff, and a mallet, used to play dulcimer like stuff. My Ibanez GSRM20 neck + GSRM20B body Mikro Bass, that I named "Dud Bottomfeeder" , with the stock pickups pulled out, replaced with just one EMG Geezer Butler P pickup, wired directly to the output jack socket, the stock side mounted barrel type jack socket having been pulled out and replaced for a front mounted regular jack socket, and tuned to tenor bass, A standard, tuning :
  4. If you use 3 fingers it doesn't take much speed or stamina to gallop fast. I use a combination of various finger picking/plucking techniques, depending, as well as I am quite adept at playing with a pick, but by far the easiest way to do the typical Iron Maiden galloping thing is using 3 fingers, for me it almost comes automatically that way, and as said doesn't require much stamina or speed. Edit!: And yes, as someone pointed out, use a light touch, more so stroking the strings, with a light slapping motion, rather than striking or pulling them. And imagine a sort of a fluently rolling wave motion with your fingers as you stroke the strings.
  5. Honestly... That looks freaking awesome. Not looking that far away from some of the more daring experimenting and arty builders out there come up with. The bridge might be a bit to the more "alternative" side, not sure what what appears to be an additional shallow rectangular cavity near the neck is for, and the top and bottom string does look dangerously close to the edge of the fretboard, but other than that, really, really cool in all its brute rawness! What scale length was/is it?
  6. Well, that is exactly what would make it interesting and special. I think we all are familiar with having been obliviously ignorant teenagers, so I doubt you'll loose any cool street credit by refusing to post pictures of your deformed creation, rather perhaps quite on the contrary. But of course it is your instrument and entirely up to you. In any case thanks for the additional information about it.
  7. Well the alignment would have been even worse had he not set up the bridge this way. As he also actually does mention in that video. He set it up this way to compensate the best he could for the misalignment.
  8. Seems like it paid off firing all those people last year, huh? Next time though it might be worth to consider not to base who is fired on who are not cross-eyed, and instead base it on who are. And stop making it count extra on job applications if you are.
  9. Now I am curious... Can we see the whole bass, please? Also how does it play and sound (other than having a really low output level)?
  10. No it doesn't, and I honestly can't be assed to explain why it would be faulty logic to conclude so, and how and why everything on a bass or guitar influences on how the strings vibrate and therefor what the pickups pick up, that is the tone of the instrument, it's basic physics really. Done it too many times, and it seems people insist on getting non the wiser regardless.
  11. Well, he is a bit of an odd reviewer, he tends to repeat himself a lot, with a lot of insertion of repeated expressions that really doesn't add any meaning or serves any real purpose except for making him able to keep speaking without pauses, and then he tends to somehow make all the basses he reviews sound more or less identical (a tone that I by the way personally find rather bland).
  12. How are they compared to Elixir Nanoweb coated strings? Both in terms of feel, tone, and in terms of how long they keep sounding fresh. They seem to utilize a somewhat similar coating technique as the Elixir, in that the coating, unlike just about any other coated strings on the market, covers the whole string, but where Elixir utilizes a Cortex coating, which as far as I gathered is some sort of synthetic plastic/fabric, these Blacksmith strings seems to utilize some kind of Carbon based coating.
  13. I once owned the first original all tubes version of the 50W Dynacord's Bass-King amp. It sounded great, was quite light taking it being a full tube amp into consideration, and just exactly loud enough to keep up with a rock band and play up small bar sized venues without additional PA support. This one: Really regret being stupid enough to sell it.
  14. Can we agree on a compromise and settle for a peninsula then?
  15. And those component's influence on the tone of the final product!
  16. And I can prove that you are a rock!: A rock can't fly You can't fly Therefore you are a rock!

  18. The original response above mine was "Rock My Boat", or something like that, which was later edited to actually fit the title above it.

  21. Resonance does affect the vibrations of the strings, and thereby what the pickups pick up.
  22. I've watched a couple of comparison videos, comparing a wide range of high mass bridges with the simple stock old fashioned bend steel plate one, and my conclusion was that the stock one sounded better, the high mass bridges sounded too polite to my ears, like rounder, and with less attack, almost dull, whereas the stock old fashioned bend steel plate bridge had more attack and a more complex and lively tone. Mind the tone difference was fairly subtle, but non the less it was definitely noticeable when the bass was played in isolation/solo.
