1. I went to Hammersmith to see them - 4 hour round trip. Mrs S had heard them a lot on the radio and fancied giving them a go live. First band left me puzzled. Evidently a lot of people enjoyed them but I didn't get it. Why the kick drum was so gut-punchingly loud I don't know. I enjoyed the girl with the squeezebox very much, so was looking forward to the main event. I was then puzzled why it took a 20 minute break to move a mike stand and midi keyboard and didn't appreciate the wait. Have to say the first guitar solo was tremendous - what a great tone and great subtlety about it. When he embarked on a second almost identical one not that much further into the gig I am sorry to say we left. We gave it an hour but just not our cup of tea. I don't doubt for a second the quality of the musicianship but I prefer my music to be slightly more cohesive and less complex. Horses for courses.
2. Bear in mind your singer is ill - suffering from LVS - Lead Vocalist Syndrome. Almost a universal constant and inevitable outcome of the ego required in fronting a band. Eventually, the singer believes they are 'his/her' band, not an equal share of the start up band it once was, and thus their opinion as to which songs get played is more important than anyone else's.
3. I like the bit where he starts 'by legend', followed by the fairy story. Maybe it is some form of disclaimer?
4. There's a Trace Elliot 15" combo for sale at the moment for £180. I'd get that, plus a Westone Thunder 1A which I could probably get from somewhere for around £150. That leaves enough change for a lead.
5. Rescued from page 3 type bump. Just to precis - refinished body in superb condition, J East U retro preamp, Hiscox case (albeit a bit scruffy in one place) - these are serious considerations! First offer over £300 will be taken, folks - this needs to go.
6. Nothing at the moment. Feels good. That's not to say that I won't spot something out of the blue that appeals but, just for now, I don't look longingly at anything. I might/might not change my TC Electronic RH 750 back up amp for another Trace Elliot one, but not in any hurry and certainly no compulsion.
7. Bought a 4U rack case from Simon in the simplest of transactions, including a free upgrade Good price, great comms, friendly chap. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
8. 6 basses. A series MIJ Squier Precision 32" scale (white) B series MIJ Squier Precision 32" scale (black) A series MIJ Squier Katana (32" scale Precision but a mad shape, in black) JV0 series MIJ '57 RI Precision, Fender logo (tobacco burst) Early 90s MIJ Fender Aerodyne non-export Jazz, 32" scale (white) Danelectro Longhorn But the total is down from a dozen or so over the last few months. Not included are a Stagg EUB, ukulele bass and a semi-acoustic. Well, they don't count, do they (Edit - also a Precision Lyte for sale, but that doesn't count either...)
9. This needs to go - make me an offer, I can only say no!
10. It is my pleasure to start a feedback thread for skitzigol. Tom bought a bass from me in the easiest of transactions, picked it up from home. I wouldn't hesitate in dealing with Tom again.
11. Bump - make an offer, someone. I might accept it!

13. Yes please, PM incoming.
14. Please!
15. Well, that worked perfectly. I've had a reply telling me which of the labelled bits on the eq were connected to which wires. Info now passed on to my tech. Thanks so much for that!
16. Having first worked out where they are in real time on an actual bass, I will usually visualise the notes on the fret board while I am listening to the tune with earbuds when I am doing a morning walk or at the gym. Sometimes accompanied with a mime of how to play them. And often I'll start humming the notes, too, which must seem a bit worrying to people close enough to hear.
17. Perfect - thank you very much!
18. On Hold...
19. Thank you Andy.
20. Chris, yes, I've been in touch with the seller, who has asked me to get a quote for the work. I'm trying to be helpful to the guy who usually does my techie stuff
21. On closer inspection the eq is actually completely disconnected to the pickup. That explains a lot Massive favour - is there any chance that someone who owns one of these Acoustibasses can take a pic of the eq to show which wires are supposed to go where, please? Edit - this might help: A is a braided wire, connection seems to be labeled with a - B thinner wire, see through sleeve, labelled with a + Cred sleeved braided wire D quite a thick braided wire, no sleeve E thinner black sleeved wire can't read the labels on the bottom 3 Battery connections to the right also need re-soldering.
22. Here is a link to some pretty comprehensive pics from the seller https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4A2gt4c6rAxQXc2SlZFQWp5dTg&usp=sharing Playing it this morning and its hard to put down...
23. Thanks for that. Disappointingly the electrics are knackered - when I took the little panel off to stick a battery in some of the wiring is barely hanging on by a thread (someone has made a real bodge of doing some soldering) and, once plugged in, it is barely louder than unplugged with no difference when the eq settings are changed. Just sent the seller a message.
24. Needs to go - make me an offer - I can only say no!
