  1. Probably not good for an occasional slapper like me then?
  2. Yep, I love a smooth sound when playing live so I have a posh multiband compressor at the start of my signal path and the built-in, way more basic, compressor in my amp.
  3. What’s this thing actually for?
  4. Obviously I haven’t done a 3 hour gig with it yet but my first impression is that it’s the most comfortable instrument I’ve ever played. Not just the weight, but the balance is incredible.
  5. Mine arrives 15:33-16:33 today. I screwed up my back playing rugby for a couple of decades so I need super light and super balanced. This will fit the bill perfectly (I hope).
  6. I’ve just ordered an EHB1505MS…
  7. I’m getting more and more interested in the EHB - does anyone know exactly how light they are? If they’re under 7lb 7oz for a 5er sign me up!
  8. So what you’re saying is I need to up the collection to about 30…? Seriously though, superb reading here. Thanks!
  9. Actually I’d rather have a Stingray than a Rick, can’t believe I missed that in the OP!!
  10. Wikipedia is never, ever wrong and it says the 4003 first appeared in 79? Still tenuous I guess, the 4002 is probably the better bet. The SR did indeed debut earlier but it wasn’t until the Nu-Metal thing at the turn of the century that I remember seeing them EVERYWHERE.
  11. Let’s say you were making an imaginary (or real) collection to represent the decades of the evolution of the instrument, what would you go for? I think mine would look something like: 50s - Fender Precision 60s - Fender Jazz 70s - Rickenbacker 4003 80s - Charvel or Jackson 90s - Warwick Something 00s - Ibanez SR 10s - Dingwall 20s - ???
  12. I got a Classic Vibe Jazz and after I changed the bridge to a Fender Hi-Mass, replaced the wiring loom with a series/parallel harness, replaced the pickups with something better and completely stripped the neck and refinished it I’m very happy with it. Read into that what you will.
  13. The best PJ I’ve ever played was one that had a vintage output P and a VERY overwound J. The 2 pickups actually complemented each other nicely.
  14. Any idea on an approx weight? I’d love to get on the Sire train but I’ve heard they can be a bit on the hefty side.
  15. Cab fits in the footwell of a car, head fits in a laptop bag. Stupidly loud and sounds even bigger.
  16. Iteration #2828145 The Old Blood Noise Endeavours Haunt completely failed to work, so the retailer and I decided to replace it with the Way Huge Pork & Pickle. This has replaced the Deluxe Muff which was just too damned big. Holy crap the Pork and Pickle is good. It’s a Russian Muff with a hugely flexible clean blend. Amazing stuff. The Carcosa is on there instead of the MXR OD as I wanted a really nasty, synthy fuzz for that Shin-Ei type sound. The Vintage Microtubes replaces the big Spark as a light crunch is essentially my core tone and I love it.
  17. I’ve been overall quite pleased with it, but the physical dimensions have been bugging me for a while and the crossover section doesn’t really do anything for me. I’ll be keeping it for home use, just not on my gigging board.
  18. Incoming replacement for the Deluxe Bass Big Muff:
  19. I’d give my left gonad for the Future Impact
  20. Iteration #7373 New additions are the Spark Mini for level matching between my active and passive gigging basses, and the JHS 3 Series Phaser. The Bright Onion patch box underneath was £30 well spent too.
