I think one of my bands has this. Keys uses an app, the rest of us get a videocassette-sized mixer with about 12 physical sliders. A tiny lcd lights up to say which channel you are adjusting. Feels a bit ott for a pub gig but works well. One gotcha - the stand clips on the mixers are too small for Hercules mike stands!

Out of curiosity what would yours cost at current prices? I'm assuming a tad more than £229 😁

I think many of us enjoy the feeling of community around live music. If you play regularly and also go to local gigs as a punter you get you know a lot of people and vice versa. I nay be biased but I have found that hobbies and interests that require a bit of effort and understanding like music tend to attract more open-minded, friendlier people. Music is something that can bring enjoyment to a large number of people at once. When someone recognises you from a gig that's a buzz for both of you from that musical connection.

If it's possible to push the pole pieces down a few mm, you can sit neodymium button magnets on top. It may sound dodgy but it works absurdly well. So well that putting a neodymium button on the bottom of each pole piece may sound better.

I used to play octaves with thumb and forefinger, but have taught myself to use forefinger and middle finger for speed and a more consistent tone. As each finger has its own string and muting is easily dealt with by left hand for octaves I use free strokes.

If it's as easy to convert those pups to neodymium as to convert jazz pups...

Four hour(!) rehearsal for a dep today. Lots of songs in non-standard keys. Despite aircon, I drank three cans of 7up and fourth on the way home. Must have gone ok as the dep gig this weekend is now two gigs. Turns out that the singer is Dave Edmunds' cousin.

The only name band* I walked out on was Black Star Riders. What's the point of bringing back Ricky Warwick if the sound's too loud and so bad that what he's playing is indecipherable. I don't count Cornershop in their ramdom feedback era.
