  1. Whitey on the Moon seems more relevant today?
  2. Ashdown amps are really bad for not being able to tell whether things are switched on or not.
  3. Well. Finally did a rehearsal with the amp, no extension cabs. We got a bit louder towards the end of the sesh and I had to turn up to 3. 🙂
  4. Interesting, I didn't have problems today, first time using it at a rehearsal, but I had some other minor irritations. The X3 seems to be low latency at only 1.5ms if you don't use it with anything else. At some point I'll set up mine with a dual trace scope and measure the latency accurately.
  5. So from this, we can deduce that 5-strings are actually for nesh folks? 🙂
  6. I have reason to believe it's actually a Ben Franklin guitar, as demonstrated by the lightning scars.
  7. Anyone got a spare Riverhead banging about?
  8. Listened to my Sabbath live at Hammersmith in the car. I in awe that I was there for a gig like that. Sabbath with Vinnie Appice coul kick the butt of any other band and Dio's voice is unmatchable.
  9. LOL! The top one looks like it has 8 strings too... wonder why not 8 on top? I would play the 4-stringer more.
  10. Same pickups, number of strings, frets... I have to ask, what's the point? Backup if a string breaks? Alternative to having a D-tuner or 5-string?
  11. Well, I say this is the most lovely bass on Basschat, anyone who disagrees is sadly deluded. 🙂
  12. "What's this? It's got a good beat!"
  13. In the seventies I had the idea of a pickup split into six single coils to allow each string to generate a separate signal for extreme distortion without intermodulation.
  14. Don't take me too seriously 🙂
  15. Some nice bass here...
  16. 🙂 I've got a 5-string and a 15" cab the size of a washing machine... 🤣
  17. OK, but it comes in different strengths. The 10% should be OK but if someone reads this and buys high strength brick acid because they think it will work better, it is very nasty.
  18. https://kytary.co.uk/joyo-r-13-xvi-octave/HN197829/?gclid=CjwKCAiAxMLvBRBNEiwAKhr-nDNqXfZS4wE0NFmGC8i5gjeAmWo40DmXGz_vnteMZ3LQb9T1E3HvKhoCPOUQAvD_BwE
  19. Google 'muriatic acid'... it's another name for hydrochloric acid. Plus if it's taking off chrome, the solution will then contain dissolved chrome and that's nasty too. Seriously, don't make the mistake of thinking brick cleaner isn't 'anything that strong' - with battery acid (sulphuric acid) and caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) its one of the three most nasty readily available chemicals on the shelves. Please be careful, it really is nasty.
  20. The problem with bands is they usually only have one bass player... Hmm, should we have impromptu mass-bass jams at Bass Bashes?
  21. Whatever the post shows a tenuous grasp of the concepts best and worst 🙂
  22. Be aware taht hydropchloric acid with chromium dissolved in it it going to be exquisitely poisonous in so many ways...
  23. By 'eck, I enjoyed that I'm sure Idris the Dragon pre-conditioned me to drink too much Felinfoel Dau Ddraig. Now that's a beer I would like to find again...
