6.
Personally if you are going for old school punch like this, id get the traditional Orange OBC410 unless you want it lightweight. Its a more traditional setup for a cabinet and its very loud. The Ampeg 4x10 is pretty good as well, if memory serves, Im just not a massive fan of Ampeg. I must admit they are punchy buggers but they are sealed if you get the SVT410....so it sounds great to my ears but has a tad less low end than a ported (apparently). They also have the 410HLF (?!) thats 4 ohms and has MUCH more low end. You could also look at their new Neo 410. If weight really isnt an issue and you want a monster of a 4 ohm 4x10, get an Aguilar GS410 or DB410.
I do like the 'propper' Orange cab and assuming it's 4ohms I reckon it'll probably be louder too? I might have to get a price for the 410HLF as I think thats the one to go for out of the 2 Ampeg. Let me just see what the size difference is between the Ampeg and the Orange. Silly Yanks like to use inches which is confusing me!
7. My budget is about £500 and I'd rather stay away from Ashdown to be honest and try something new as I've had a few of their amps/cabs now and after playing through an Ampeg at a gig I quite fancy going down that route
8. Afternoon all! Well I'm after a new cab to accompany my Ashdown ABM EVO II Head and I think I've narrowed it down to these two so my question to the knowlegable people on here is which one would you go for and why? I have also been offered a schroeder 1212L from a forum member but without trying one out, I can't be sure I'll like it after a 200 mile round trip... At the moment I use the Ashdown Mini 48 and Mini 115 cabs but I'd like to use just one cab and still have the same (or more) volume if possible. Both cabs are rated at 8ohms and I'd like to just stick with the 1 cab rather than be disappointed and sp**k a load more cash out next month! Oh, and the smaller the better and my band play loud! I'll be looking at getting a new head within the next couple of months too but for now, it has the be a new cab first as the mini 48 just killed another speaker All help is greatly appreciated! Cheers, Matt

15. I just got back from the post office after sending a bass to Denmark for a member on here. I hope it gets there ok... On my receipt, it says suitcases and musical instrument cases are excluded from compensation so you might have got lucky
16. I found my ABM to be much louder than my MAG and they were rated at the same volume... I'm using an ABM EVO II 300 with the Mini 48 and 115 cabs and its plenty loud enough to compete with 2 guitar valve amps and we play very loud. I am in the market for an Orange Bass Terror now, you might want to check one out
17.
Very cool bass - I had one from around '78 and it was good fun - better tuners than the earlier models but not the same reliced vibe. It looks like there's a bit of cavity re-shaping to fit the new pickup - it this the case? Whatever, this is a real bargain and I doubt it'll hang around.
As far as I'm aware its the original cavity hole, definitely not modified by me anyway and it is unmolested under the copper shielding
18. *SOLD* For Sale: Vintage 1971 Fender Musicmaster Bass *SOLD* Good morning ladies and gents For sale is my original 1971 Fender Musicmaster. I've had this bass a while (originally purchased from here actually) and modified it slightly to suit. I am only selling because I just don't play her anymore and I really want to see her go to a new home It is being sold with its original pickguard, pickup (originally from a late 60's strat I believe) pots wiring etc (everything to make it original) I did however buy a new black pickguard for her to mount the new pickup (Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound for Single Coil P-Bass® SCPB-3), wiring and pots so that I could make it original just by swapping the loaded pickguards back over. All of the above is included in the sale. There is one thing to note, the new pickguard (black) has the holes drilled slightly off center with the holes on the body of the bass. I didn't want to modify either so instead, I have only used half of the screws (the ones that line up with the body). She is currently strung with flats but I will also include the original strings (they might be the original string from when it was made but I can't be sure) The bass is obviously quite old but still solid as a rock. As you can see from the pics it has got some natural relicing Guts: Original Pickguard, pickup and wiring: On the bass: New black pickguard, pickup and wiring: I'm after £350 for this bass. I live in Oxford so anyone who wants to come and try it please feel free to come and have a play. If I have to post it, I will do so with the neck off wrapped safely in a strong box Please ask for a postage quote but imagine it'll be around £20 Any questions please feel free to fire away Cheers, and enjoy the sunshine! Matt
