  1. So what the heck is "screw spacing"?
  2. I missed this at the start. Looks very smart indeed. 👍
  3. I am trying to come up with any logical explanation for that. I'm struggling, unless you have two totally different bands, one electric and one orchestral, playing totally different music?
  4. Local council has been on a massive environmental health project, so no rats anymore. Foxes are too dangerous to try to catch and skin. It's going to be chilly in February...
  5. https://www.theguitarshow.co.uk/ I went to this last year, same venue. A good show, with enough bass gear to make for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. Parking right at the venue is tight, but you can spill out into the streets of the surrounding industrial estate. Well organised and not too loud (amps on only for 10 minutes each half hour and everyone at sensible volume, and a separate acoustic hall)
  6. We kicked the morning service off with this one today: An absolute hoot to play, the band and the congregation had a blast and we did the vamp as well (but not the slap break!) I had hoped to put the link to our YT stream, but sadly that recording doesn't capture the energy in the sanctuary, so this is the next best thing.
  7. This is excellent! I shall be showing this thread to my wife, so that she appreciates the fact that I only own two basses!
  8. There is still time to avoid the purchase.... 🤪 What's the bass?
  9. I have no idea what you're on about, but if it makes you sound iike Quo in a worship setting then I'm all for it! 👊
  10. None at all, new glazing wouldn't even be a tier 2 fail.
  11. Oooooh. More things to fiddle with instead of doing billable client work. 😊
  12. I've settled on WinAmp. Not perfect, and misses some display functionality, but it does what I specifically needed in picking a random album to play. I'm now listening to albums I haven't picked out in ages - which is exactly the intention. Thanks all, Rich
  13. If you do melt the lead, wear a mask and have the kitchen back door wide open! But flashing you can cut into little pieces easily.
  14. I don't think you need quite that much mass. What you're aiming for is torque, to counteract the mass of the headstock, so 1.5kg right by the strap button will have a greater effect than 1.5kg over the entire guitar body. Lead shot is little balls of lead, might be easier to handle than lead sheet. (Unless you plan to melt it in an old saucepan in the kitchen like my Dad used to, to make different shaped weights. Mum was not best pleased 😁)
  15. Funny how songs from childhood have memories indelibly linked. Yesterday my mother and I drove down to collect my daughter (now in her 20's) from Heathrow after three weeks away. We were talking about what Mum used to play in the car when she collected the kids from primary school, and what they wanted to hear, so we queued one particular song up ready to play on the way home. My daughter thought it was great, and then found a bunch of others on Spotify. So this is what I was listening to on the M40 yesterday: The track Mum always used to have set on the cassette player in the car, so the kids could sing all the wrong words. One of my daughter's favourites, she still got all the words correct.
  16. Scuba instructor, astronomer, maker, designer, programmer, sometime bass player. Bloody polymaths! Coming onto our forums and making the rest of us feel inadequate! Send 'em home, or Mensa. Incompetent of Solihull. 😉
  17. Lead shot as ballast. You print a box that exactly slots into one of the holes, and has a close fitting lid. Add lead shot to balance, then glue the shot in place, the lid on the box, and the box in the hole. You could use more than one infill for extra weight or distribution. Lead from fishing suppliers, or some other heavy stuff if you prefer.
  18. Very true. But you don't see many paint brushes on the gallery walls, only the masterpieces created with them. Maybe our new museum should have headphones to listen to great music, and a couple of rooms with concert-level systems in for the bands whose greatest works were all live?
  19. I have just caught up with this. It looks fab! If you wanted to go a step too far, then cutting parts of the neep logo all the way through the wood would let out the red light from the psu LED.
  20. Still in. Procrastination over an acoustic I was interested in meant that someone else bought it. I hope to adopt much the same technique all year. Plus I've just seen the estimate for getting rid of the red warning lights on my car dashboard! 😱
  21. Indeed he was. He and Stephen Fry used to get all excited over the latest Apple Macintosh releases and rave about them everywhere. Of course they had the income to buy them!
  22. 👍 That's the documentation department. Just next to the display department ( which is in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard')
