  1. Well, so happens my GB combo is 28Kg... And the RS212 is about 22 I think. May have hit a problem as the 212 is deep, about 50cm I think. Looks a bit like it would fall off the front of the stand.
  2. I can do that... got a hammer. Neat idea really. The head's so light I was wondering a patch of Velcro between cab and amp. Can't do the ratchet strap @SICbass, I have to have everything straight and tidy, I mean have to.
  3. That's the idea Paul, I don't like the 212 on the floor though it does depend on room, size, shape etc a bit. At £30-ish it's worth a go for me and I think I might like the BG combo on it... if I can lift it on Thanks all as usual, good balanced advice and shared experience - top gang.
  4. Pickin' time. From the start I'm a fingers / pick player and I've needed both very many times. So, just preppin a covers dep job (may become more permanent) and all going fine, come to Chelsea Dagger. You can tell that guy has strong punk roots - speed and big aggression. For all the anti-pick guys, I offer you Chelsea Dagger ;)

  5. Looking for a folding stand to get an RS212 off the floor and angled up a bit. Quite a few folding stands seem to angle a lot and I only want around say 15 degrees, maybe 20 (a guess). Found a Quiklock BS317 which might be OK seems the angle is adjustable. Anyone using siimilar? and then I have to figure where to put the head (Tone Hammer). This thing might be really useful on my Genz Benz combo too. One way or another I want the cab off the floor - Actually worth bothering with these, or chasing rainbows?
  6. Very tasty and as a lifelong P devotee I would love it (can't, no spare big cash). Wonder why they put the then current tuners on it? Given the non-laminated plate/guard and the tweed case, I'm puzzled by that. The spaggo logo is the best, why they messed with it at all, ever, beats me.
  7. Agreed, my 212 is really good - happy enough to want a 210 to match. Like the 450, not many come up used so I may have to shell the £500 for a new one. I think the RS cabs are up there with the current sexy names, but like you say they have fallen off-trend for now.
  8. Thanks JW, very keen to try this but really want to apply it to a Jazz fretless - very nearly bought one a week ago then seller went dodgy (so the bass probably was). I'm actively looking and I'll be in touch. May gat in tough with Ki0gon. Not clear may have missed it but is the tone the pull-pot?
  9. This sounds brilliant for my pending Jazz fretless - is there a parts list and wiring diagram anywhere, I mean a real basic talk-through for a real novice in these things.
  10. On my fretted Jazz I mostly have one or other pup backed just a tad, say around 9 (if 10 is full), but I agree the both on 10 is what many Jazz bass players use it for. @paul_5 - passive, definitely - simple old-school btw, anyone know how the CS Pastorius Jazz is wired?
  11. For the sake of us that don't follow (me then) does this start with the series wiring like on that pic @paul_5 found? And then where does the pull switching come in and what does it do? It all looks neat and really worth trying but I better check I properly understand first.
  12. Sorry been away a week. Thanks for all the responses. The Jazz I had in mind turned out to be a problem so I'm still looking Is this the Seymour Apollo humbucker type? No expert on this so need a bit more info - I'd like to be able to drop pups into std cavities and keep the bass looking as standard as poss (so pull switch for coil tapping would be OK... I'm slightly OCD). I'll investigate the other options but find the right bass first.
  13. Just hunting down a fretless Jazz, and it's very likely I'd want to swap the p'ups - obviously I'll give the existing ones a decent chance first but... SO, no body mods, a straight Jazz pup swap but looking to up the mids. Want to stay passive and I'm thinking max £150 the pair. Less would be happy. Advice and opinions please. Thanks all.
  14. That really is brilliant - the best bit on the whole bass is a gold sharpie Fender logo. 👍
  15. That's more like it. If you haven't experienced the cheap 60s basses, you're missing a reference point for bad. My first bass was a Vox quite like the pic. Short scale, guitar tuners so all the knobs broke off and pliers were required for tuning. bent neck, no truss rod and fingerboard was plywood. Couldn't call what it made a sound - old flats on and you got a bump of air with a hint of pitch in it. It was only my absolute conviction to one day get a Precision that kept me going. Truly really awful (the one in pic was auctioned recently for £220... why oh why?)
  16. Good point - the 3" is really wide so spreads the weight, but it might get toasty under there. Mislaid my leather strap of many years, it was perfect. Fifty quid for a strap gives me a headache, I can buy a reasonable combo for that
  17. Did you see the 450 combo and 112 ext for sale right here? The combo being 210, plus the 12 should sound tasty
  18. My current faves are EB Cobalts but I think you have that area covered with the TIs. Given the big band, I'd personally try some nylon flats on the second - I think they would play to the Ps strengths in the lows and mids, with a natural warmth that should suit the band. I'll watch out to see what direction you go in.
  19. I have an RS212 cab and rate it highly - excellent neutral sound, I mean it lets the amp decide how it sounds. Same HF as the 210 can be rolled off continuously by rotary on back - mid-setting is generally about right for me. Well built, nicely finished but above all excellent versatile sound and a LOT of it. I am seriously considering adding a 210 so I can use either depending or both if I ever needed those huge levels. Never used a 450 but hi and lo mids appeals. Had a 250 and it was pretty good but EQ was too limiting. Onboard tuner really excellent and the toneprint is great, esp. if you have the pedal to go from one print to another. I used the chorus with my fretless and for a one-knob chorus they got it really good. I switched it for a Tone Hammer - prefer the native sound of the Aguilar but miss the tuner and toneprint.
  20. Was all set to get a decent strap, then I came over all Yorkshire again (I'm down south by mistake). So got 2 (yep, two) Levy's 3" webbing straps from G4M for about 12 quid each. Very basic humble they are, dead pleased. If plain n simple appeals, I'd recommend these - light, comfy, no metal bits to scratch the bass.
  21. That might be what I need. Like this one? https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Korg-GA-50-Guitar-Tuner/2PQD
  22. Just sold my TC BH250 and I really miss the onboard tuner (and the toneprint chorus for my fretless). The Unitune sounds a good bet to me. But what I'd really like is a small device that can sit discreetly by the head for when I need to check. The only options (apart from clip-on) seem to be pedal or rack. Going to a clip-on mid set seems a hassle. And the pedal tuners that get recommended cost more than I sold my BH250 for... ??!
  23. Consistently demonstrates a passion for values alignment, focus, simplicity, and clarity across the organisation. This is quite funny - is there anything at all about this ad that projects focus, simplicity or clarity? I'm sure he's a really good bloke and a very capable player, but this ad uses words the way he uses notes.

    Jazz

Neat and looks good. Where's the truss adjuster though? I do like unlined necks on fretless. My Mayones has 2 octave neck but there be dragons up there. 17 is high enough for me cos I go dizzy any higher.
  25. Interesting - I like very plain, understated like. Are we allowed to know who you got it from?
