  1. No maple boards for me! Did you have this one in mind Andy?
  2. So me and the lady took a trip to Bass Direct this morning, went with my Ibanez SR1705B-NT to part exchange, wasn’t really playing it anymore and have grown tired of the shape of I’m honest. I went with an open mind but had a few basses in mind that I wanted to try: Mayones Jabba Classic Dirtyburst Mayones Prestige 4 Classic. Two very different basses, one being a Jazz style setup and the other with Dual coils and neck through Wenge construction. Got into Bass Direct to have a very warm greeting and Ashley sat me down with the basses I had pointed out while he sorted my Ibanez part ex stuffs. Tried both acoustically, both lovely instruments but immediately trying the Jabba acoustically I had decided it just wasn’t for me. The prestige however with the neck through Wenge/Padauk & swamp ash w/ quilt maple top was just sublime. Acoustically that bass had sustain only bestowed by gods. Harmonics just jumped out of it. I tried it through a Genz amp setup and it sounded fantastic, very versatile and definitely a usable EQ, people seem to complain about the Prestige Classic not having coil split ability but it didn’t really fuss me. Anyway I was loving just sitting noodling to myself messing with the EQ, however my partner had also seen a Satin Blueburst NYC Sadowsky Deluxe on the website that she was bugging me to try. I owned a MV5 for years and loved it but stupidly traded it to another BC’er who gave me a load of BS about how he missed it etc then moved it on within two weeks. So I asked Ashley if I could try the NYC, he took it down and left it with me to get to know, immediately I understood “that moment” that most musicians talk about, yano the moment where you find “the right one”. I just started smiling all over and huffing because I’d fallen for something moderately expensive. Harmonics and chords just came so fluid and it sounded crystal clear even with the EQ flat, weighed next to nothing because the body was chambered and had no sticky lacquer for me to deal with. Lex (my fiancé) instantly saw the look on my face and knew that I’d fallen in love with it...So the Ibanez went as part ex and Lex looked at me and said “that’s the one isn’t it, you’re getting it!” She treated me to something I never dreamt I’d own. So I’m feeling a very lucky man to have someone who knows how to read me so well and supports me in my passion for music and playing bass. I’d just like to thank Mark and Ashley (Marcus wasn’t in, but if you’re reading this, thanks Marcus!) at Bass Direct for being so welcoming and sorting me out with the basses I had in mind to try, loved chatting and talking all things bass!

  7. Beautiful 2016 6 string Ibanez bass with fantastic electronics and brilliant craftsmanship. Any questions please get in touch! Ibanez BTB1606 Electric 6-string Bass Features: Tonally versatile bass guitar, with premium tonewoods and pickups 9-piece wenge/bubinga/maple BTB neck is very strong for long-term dependability Mahogany body enhances sustain and low-end richness Nordstrand Big Single single-coil pickups sound big and powerful Onboard EQ-IIISC gives you exceptional tone-shaping capabilities Mono-rail IV bridge allows each string to vibrate independently, enhancing definition and clarity KTS Titanium neck Reinforcements This bass is by no means mint condition, the previous owner was a professional musician in London and has really loved this over the time he had it. I love the bass itself, but I have an itch for a trade for maybe a Jazz or P? It’s a satin/oil finish which obviously wears with use, everything is purely cosmetic the bass functions fine, plays well and looks gorgeous! It came to me in a trade deal, all I’ve done to it is clean it, wax and restring. It’s ready to go with an Ibanez Branded hardshell case. What Ibanez say: Ibanez has created a bass with boutique styling and appointments, and it's one of the most captivating basses you'll see! The Ibanez BTB1606 electric 6-string bass incorporates premium bass tonewoods with electronics and hardware that will make you a believer. A 35" scale length gives you solid bass tones and articulation, while the deep cutaway gives you unencumbered access to the upper fretboard. Neck-through construction and a multi-piece neck offer great playability, and Nordstrand pickups let you craft a great low-end sound. Necks aren't just part of a bass, they are the heart of the bass. The neck feel and playability can make or break an otherwise great instrument. The Ibanez BTB1606 incorporates a 9-piece wenge/bubinga/maple neck that offers you killer stability, playability, and tone. Ibanez basses have long been known for their excellent necks. Not satisfied to just attach the neck to the BTB1606, Ibanez utilized neck-through construction, which gives you better vibrational and tonal transfer throughout the entire instrument. A mahogany body with poplar burl top and rosewood fretboard complete the picture making the Ibanez BTB1606 a 6-string bass player's dream. Tone-enhancing appointments A slightly longer 35" scale gives the BTB1606 superior articulation and helps provide more tension and a better feel on the 5th string. Formerly found on boutique basses only, this extended scale length will provide you with a better playing experience on lower strings. The Ibanez BTB1606 packs the ultra-innovative Mono-rail IV bridge with locking saddles, which allows each string to fully vibrate without any interference with the other strings. That means that no matter how fast you play across the strings, each note will ring clear and true. Great tone from Nordstrand Big Single pickups No matter what you're playing the BTB1606's pair of Nordstrand Big Single pickups have you covered. These pickups have a rich and solid character to them, with powerful sound-shaping potential from the onboard EQ-IIISC controls. You have control over boost/cut for bass, mid, and high frequencies, with a mid-frequency switch to fine-tune your midrange tone.
