1. Just ignore the 5th string!
(vic and bob ,handbags to chin) OOOOOOHHHHHHWWWWWW!!!!!!!! loving that two and a half grand bass, though its worth it.......if it was a 4 string I'd be thinking about making an offer!!(really...I would!) all the best with the sale
2. Lol, no its nothing like that! Just debating shelling out before I sell mine
Sheffield's not that bad! We've got Starbucks and everything now! If it's not that, I do hope it's nothing I've said here or in a PM that you may have misinterpreted I know it's a popular desirable instrument, but I'm not so confident of a sale that I'd insult prospective buyers
3. Mmm I have my reasons....
A 4 1/2 hour drive is putting you off the chance to own your dream bass? lol
4. A bargin for sure. Shame I am so far away otherwise I would have snapped his hand off!
A bargain for a bass like this
5. Any chance of other pics?
Ooh blimey - interest! To head off a torrent of PMs on what seems to be the common questions: I'm based in South Yorkshire. Yes, so's the Wal I'd *much* rather collection over courier - £50 cash back towards your travel costs if so, folks! - but sending out is an option at buyer's risk and expense [I'll do my best, though!]. Couriering [that's not a word, surely] would only occur once payment is cleared, mind. I strongly recommend that those who wish to try before buying - very sensible - bring a wad of cash to wave in my face to show serious intent; I simply haven't the time to accommodate test pilots, as much as I'd like to chat about all things low-end. Sorry. I'm also selling the Sei fretless here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=73502 for a stonking price. If you follow the link that's there through to my site, you'll get a little more info on me for trust reassurance purposes. Hope that helps
6. All Sads have VTC both New York and Metro. Here is the key for Metro basses.... S - Standard Style (no pickguard) V - Vintage Style R - Rosewood / Alder M - Maple / Ash
it helped indeed, thank you! has it got the vtc control? do you know the difference between mv series and rv series?
7. Might be better to PM me direct questions.
it helped indeed, thank you! has it got the vtc control? do you know the difference between mv series and rs series?
8. Cheers Chris, theres alwasy room for another Sadowsky!
Oh and if i didnt already have a few Sadowsky's i'd be all over this one!! its gorgeous!!
9. Wow! Seriously tempted... PM Sent
 10. Met him a few years back in London and tried to start up a conversation about his Bass playing with Japan he just stared straight through me. I don't suppose he minded whn the likes of me were buying his records back in the day! although judging from his recent biog he didn't make much money, it all went to the blonde fella. As we are name dropping Gary Tibbs is a top bloke for those that recall Adam and the Ants and Roxy Music, always ready to talk about all things bass!
Intersting what you say about Mick Karn. I don't really know anything about him apart from he plays fretless bass. However, a friend of mine did vocals for him on one of his albums. It was some competition thing and she won and he never even bothered to turn up at the studio or thank her.
11. Dereks a really decent bloke and very approachable unlike some other ex pop star bass players - step forward Mick Karn! Your right about him milking it a bit in 85 but I get the feeling theres no love lost with Kerr.
I agree, John is a great bass player but I don't think he filled the hole that was left by Derek. I can't think of one memorable or stand out bass line on Once Upon A Time. Also, Derek says the reason he left SM was because he became lazy and was enjoying the high life to much. Enjoying the partying a little to much. He admits its all his own fault. I'll be talking to him in the next week or so and should be seeing him in March. I'll ask him about his Wal's. I would love to have a go although I sooner play his red precision.
12. PMS Replied to.... and still no sign of a Wal!?
 13. Cheers guys, your right of course in an ideal world I'd have both but having been out of work for most of last year and only recently joined the working world again I need to replenish the savings as the Redundancy money took a bit of a bash what with having to pay the mortgage and other horrible things. It would have to be a great offer and the money would go straight against a Wal - nice to know there are so many decent people in the Bass chat world! cheers for the support - much appreciated...
By the sounds of how much you love your Sadowsky, I'd also be inclined to say, "Don't do it." Keep your favourite bass and save for a Wal. That give you a win-win scenario.
14. UPDATE This Bass is now for sale due to pending House move - Deposit needed so straight sale preferred. £1,200 Any interest........? Steve. This Sadowsky is my pride and Joy and was previously owned by the ex Overwater Luthier Dave Wilson so it has been very well looked after. What can I say about it? It is perfect and has the best neck on a Jazz I have ever seen or played it's mint and has no marks whatsoever. I am not sure of its actual age but less than 2 years would be my guess as it comes with the newer Sadowsky carry case. I don't really in my heart want to sell as its the best Bass I have ever had plus the finish is my particular favorite black/black maple but feel free to make me an offer, as a ball-park I wouldn't conside less than £1,200 as I am not particularly desperate to sell. Also sorry but not interested in overseas sales (unless its Ireland or the Isle of Wight!) Cheers Guy's, Steve.
 15. To be honest I don't think he is really that fussed if they sell or not, he is just having a clear out. There are links to him playing them on you tube he played the fretted on his last tour with the band in 84/85. I agree though he would be better advertising in the states.
That's a good point about stories to be told. He should be listing all the songs (especially big hits) that he recorded with the these, as well as tours and notable shows he did with them. It's one thing to buy a bass owned by someone famous that that person hardly ever touched, but a collector will be all over an instrument that was used to record major hits.
16. Giblins an excellent bassist but for me the rawness of Forbes made Simple Minds, the bass practically disappeared from their songs after he was booted out by Kerr.
I much prefer john giblin....
17. Not that I am a name dropper but have been in contact with Mr Forbes, I agree they are overpriced I think he is going for the fact they were used on recordings by Simple Minds in fact he put a few links to him playing them live. I understand he has had an offer close to £5k for the fretted from a Fan in Italy but can't see him getting what he wants.
 18. Yum!
