  1. I’m a massive fan of La Bella black tapes, they are perfect for what I play   I have a nominated tokai  jb  which I get serious low end out of but still a very clean sound, and they feel great

Interesting that mine is front-routed from the neck pickup to the control cavity, and yours isn’t....

Yeah I’ve noticed that some are and some aren’t , the difference being the front routed ones you would have to have a pickguard on  to cover the groove

  3. That’s looking great  the black blocks look good with the yellow. My 74 jb has a slightly deeper neck profile which I wasn’t sure about at first but the more I played it the more I liked it. Really top job 👍

It actually started off as a bit of fun but when I stripped it it was a nice piece of solid alder and things went from there I’ve got la Bella tapewounds fitted , very clean deep sound

I have two weaknesses and one strength.

Weakness No.1; I'm not very good at playing the bass yet.

    Strength; I practice a lot.

Weakness No.2; I'm not getting any better!

You probably are but don’t realise it     Have a closer look at what you’re actually practicing and don’t try to cover too much at once it’s better to be able to play one thing really well than lots of things untidy  it takes time but it will come 😀

Slow going but I’m up to the 12th fret. Nearly there but, to paraphrase Genesis, “it’s half past twelve and time for lunch”!

I think I lost you. Do you mean the London Bass Guitar Show, or similar? They have stands and star guests. Or do you mean Basschat bashes? They don't usually have fully fledged stands, and may or may not have big names as guests, but they are organised all around the country. I wouldn't call the usually £10 ticket for a bash an 'arena price ticket'. In fact, I wish arena gigs were that price!

Silvia.  Is there a  basschat bash in the London area in the near future

  8.   I know a few people that  can play very fast  but  when I heard them in the studio they had no  timing.  for me it’s all about the groove  and keeping the Bassline in the pocket       A minor weakness of mine was muting and ghost notes so I studied it in quite depth  which transformed my Basslines
