I might put some on my build
They are definitely worth a go With a bit of tweaking on the amp I got a lovely warm tone through my markbass ny 15’s

If it hadn’t been for basschat I would never have heard of this band. as I mainly play reggae and a bit of funk. What a revelation they are absolutely great 👍

I bought a set of these a few years ago just to put on a jb I leave in my summerhouse £12 I think and was really impressed Very nice deep warm tone Well worth the money

FWIW I don't think it's necessarily a purely British thing, I have a similar experience with Talkbass, YouTube and my website - people are always very quick to point out when something is wrong, but more reluctant to give praise.
I don’t think it’s a British thing, it’s simply some people just don’t appreciate what you do 👍

A u bass would probably be just the right size 😀

Beautiful bass😍

I do this quite regularly then when I play it I remember why I bought it. If you don’t need the money keep it 😀

That would be really annoying especially when they are nicely worn in. I’ve never actually broke a string. But I use flats or tapewound maybe that’s why

I asked this in Technical and Repairs, but I'll ask here as well, if I get some measurements can someone turn me three oak plugs for some inserts on some bench slats that are in the wrong place?
Not sure if it’s any help si but you can buy tapered oak pellets they are mostly 10 or 12 mm I use them at work

Just bought a set of D'addario Black tapes for my maple necked Sandberg Umbo and I really like them so far.
I've previously owned LaBella white tapes, Fender Black tapes and Status tapes. The Status were way too floppy for my tastes and the Fender were also too bendy as well as having some sort of QC issue where the E string looked to be made from a different material. The Labellas I initially liked but began to lose attack after a while. I wasn't fussed on the feel of the LaBellas either, they were the heavier set and felt too "thick" and dull to me.
The D'addarios have a medium light tension (nowhere near as floppy as TI flats for instance) and have a nice snap to the attack and a nice mellow tone. At the moment they have good sustain but I could live with shorter sustain with the same snap as the strings get older. I have no idea whether that's realistic😁
Did your fender tapes have like a shiny finish to them I’ve just bought some but haven’t fitted them yet. only my D’addario ones have a smooth Matt finish

I have always had difficulty with applying myself. It was actually stated on one of my annual school reports - "Has natural aptitude but needs to apply himself".
I wish you every success!
Mine used to say. Must try harder 😀

IMO A good practice routine is a must Work on your weaknesses and what is relevant to you And write everything down so you know how you are progressing

I don’t do any sort of social media at all. But I do find basschat very addictive 😀

Yup, a couple of the worst basses I've owned were real-deal 70s Fenders. I sold them for hefty chunks of cash (market value) that were several times what they were actually worth without the name, the age, the mojo, etc... The 78 Jazz, in particular...I hope whoever bought it just hung it up as a trophy*, because it wasn't much of an instrument...
* And if they did, I hope they used long screws in the wall: it was 12lbs+....
Was they really that bad , in what way only asking as I was half looking at investing in one

What a beautiful instrument 👍

Old skool favourite of mine

Beautiful bass👍

I used a water based stain and wiped them off with a cotton bud and they came out ok but I did mask the edge of the fretboard

I love the sound of a p and I have quite a nice one but I can’t get on with the neck width , maybe if I played it all the time I would get used to it. so I bought this it’s a 1998 pj probably the most comfortable bass I own
