  1. Hi they are factory sprayed. The answer is yes you could but you would have to completely take everything off the body and strip it back to bare wood and start again Its a lot of work. it looks really good to me as it is   I’m a carpenter and polisher  and done one as a project in my joinery shop

  2. Hi I bought a fender jazz bass last year at a slightly reduced price because the guy told me the bridge pickup didn’t work on only the A string. I put it into pmt for a set up and expecting a new pickup. The engineer there said the pole piece had been put in upside down in the factory  charged me £35 all in problem solved

  3. Hi I’ve got a similar one it’s got the bullet truss rod the bound fingerboard     vintage pickups , bridge, and tuners    The only difference between this and my other jazz basses is the neck profile it’s very slightly deeper but feels great    and sounds really good with flatwound strings

  4. It looks really good aidan63.      and it’s great fun building your own  this is one I did    it started life as a blue basic squire  I stripped it and sprayed it shell pink   And upgraded all of it  stained and polished the fretboard. I’m a carpenter/cabinetmaker and polisher by trade  it’s fitted with tapewound strings sounds really mellow

  5. Yeah i prefer the lower tone and I really like the large logo on the earlier ones and I’m sure they have the 4 screw neck plate  I’ve heard mixed reviews about the 3 screw ones. I’m not far from Andy Baxter’s shop might go and try a few.  Thanks very much for your advice

  6. This is good reading for me as I’m thinking of buying a 70s jazz or the jazz bass elite  I’ve done a lot of reading and 1972 seems to be the best year I already have 9 nice basses  but the early jb,s seem to be a good investment and a bit of fun

  7. Yeah I keep the treble back on my amp  for a warm mellow tone  but clean        I found I was spending more time messing around with my amp than I was playing or practicing  you just got to find the sweet spot 😀
