  1. ***SOLD Pending *** Hi Folks, Due to having too many amps, up for sale is this beautiful sounding, excellent condition, Mesa Boogie Carbine M6, 600 watt bass amp that comes in a Trojan 2u Rack Case. Price etc I'm looking for £625 o.n.o for the amp and rack case. Trades Happy to entertain trade offers now; studio gear, interesting fx pedals, 6-string electro-acoustics, all valve amps, etc, etc. Attached photos hopefully show everything you'd need to see, but if you'd like any other pictures, please let me know. At the risk of stating the obvious, the Fearless Greenboy cab in the photos is not for sale. Collection arrangements Collection only from Potton, in Central Bedfordshire, or a meet up somewhere between Potton and Ealing in London where I work. Sorry, but I won't post this, having had too many mishaps when shipping amps before. Viewings / trial at Silverfoxnik Towers very welcome of course, where the kettle will be on and the tea/coffee will be flowing. If you have any questions, please ask away here or PM me. Thanks for looking, as ever.. Cheers, Nik 👍😊 Useful info/reference/reviews etc So, here's some useful background and other information about this sale... This was bought by me in March last year from @rambam, here's a link to his advert : It was in superb condition when I bought it, and it still is to be honest, as I've only done a few gigs with it in that time. Here's the Carbine's tech spec: Wattage600 Watts @ 4 or 2 Ohms / 320 Watts @ 8 Ohms Power Amp TypeTrans-Class™ Power w/8 Power MOSFET's & 8/4 or 2 Ohm Impedance Switch PreampVacuum Tube Preamp w/ 1x Mesa 12AX7 EQ / Dynamics ControlActive Bass w/Pull Deep, Passive Mid, 5-Position Active Mid-Voice Switch & Active Treble Footswitchable FunctionsExternal Switching Jacks for Mute and Voicing Modes (Footswitches Sold Seperately) Weight25 Lbs. Dimensions3 1/2" H x 19" W x 13 3/8" D A useful YouTube review here: And here's a pretty accurate description of the qualities of the Carbine: The Mesa/Boogie M6 Carbine 600 Watt Bass Head is a powerhouse amplifier designed for bassists who crave precision, power, and versatility. With its Class A/B power section, this amp head delivers an impressive 600 watts, ensuring your sound is both bold and clear, whether you're in the studio or on stage. The M6 Carbine is engineered with a hybrid tube preamp and a MOSFET power section, combining the warmth of tubes with the reliability and efficiency of solid-state technology. What sets the M6 Carbine apart is its 5-band EQ with a semi-parametric midrange, allowing for detailed tonal shaping tailored to your specific style. This flexibility ensures that whether you're playing smooth jazz, funk, or heavy rock, your sound will cut through with clarity. The amplifier also features a foot-switchable Solo Level Control for dynamic live performances. Beyond its tonal capabilities, the M6 Carbine is built with the gigging musician in mind. It includes a balanced XLR output with a ground lift and pre/post EQ options for direct connection to PA systems. Additionally, it features a series effects loop and a tuner output, making it easy to integrate with your existing gear. Thanks again for looking! 👍
  2. Thanks Gary, That's understandable... We've been very fortunate over the years to have been able to hold the Bash at the same site since 2009. And it was excellent ; ample parking, great choice of rooms, reasonable location etc, etc. All good things come to an end I guess.
  3. Hi Gary, Any thoughts or insights as to whether or not a September /October bash might be possible?
  4. What a stunning looking instrument @Grainger guitars, and a truly wonderful gesture on your part to complete the bass in Nick's honour! This is exactly the sort of gesture from within the bass community that Nick would so love to have seen and want to have supported... It really is fantastic of you! 👍☺️🙏
  5. That's fabulous, and an absolute bargain IMHO for such a high-quality custom built bass! I have a Van der End JB5 that I bought on here 10 year ago, and, although its had a bit of a chequered past, it's still a great sounding and unique bass... I'm sure that whoever buys this won't be disappointed... GLWTS! 👍😊
  6. This is a fantastic sounding bass, really easy to play, well made and very lightweight too... So, it ticks a lot of boxes! I say that because @Lozz196 was kind enough to let me try it out for a week, as I've always fancied owning a short scale bass... But for some reason, I just couldn't quite get used to the shorter scale. So it's back home at Lozz Towers now.. But as said above, it really is a cracking bass and at the price, a complete bargain! Thanks again for the try out Lozz - very much appreciated, and I hope this little beauty finds a new home soon! 👍😊 Cheers Nik
  7. Had the pleasure recently of meeting up again with @E sharp, aka, Paul to puck up an old Trace cimbo that's going to live in the band's rehearsal room for the foreseeable. Second bass gear deal we've done now I think, and all good with this, just like the first one. Amongst other things, they're always very easy comms with Paul, who's a very knowledgeable and friendly Basschatter that I'm more than happy to recommend to everyone here on the forum! Thanks again, Paul, and here's to the next one... 😁
  8. Finally had the pleasure of meeting @leschirons, aka Keith, in person yesterday, as I went to collect the ever-so-retro 80s Roland Cube he was selling. So, what can i say about Keith that hasn't already been said? Well... Number one; you receive a wonderfully, warm welcome when you arrive at Chateau Leschirons, at which point... Number two: Keith serves you a Barista level cup of coffee!! ☕👍 Number three: Then there's talk of the joys of France, blues, basses, LaBella White Nylon strings, Basschat and sheep! Wow, those white strings, those white Sheep - amazing! 😁 And Number four: ever the gentleman, Keith walks you to your car holding the very item you've just paid for whilst reminiscing about the first time we dealt with each other on Basschat in 2009! It just doesn't get much better than this Folks, trust me! Keith; great to finally meet you and thanks for a great deal, a cool little amp, and a brilliant Basschat experience! Here's to the next one.. 🙏☺️ Nik Hopefully it'll be sooner than in 15 years time, otherwise I'll be popping round in a Dial A Ride minibus... 😂
  9. Really nice to hear such clean, precise and dynamic playing.... It's all in the hands/fingers, as a certain Mr Santana famously once said.
  10. What a great looking bass - seriously good value for the money! Brilliant and highly respected Basschatter, too! GLWTS @ead 👍😊
  11. What a fantastic sounding bass, and some wonderful playing in your video there @DaveSetchfield 👏👏👍 GLWTS 😊
  12. Just bought a great little Ibanez 6 string guitar from @binky_bass a.k.a. Russ... ... Who's a brilliant bloke to deal with, being super-chilled, very patient and accommodating and who quite rightly, is well-liked and we'll-respected around these parts! I think this is the second guitar I've bought from Russ - first deal we did was almost 14 years ago IIRC. And suffice to say, this deal was as pleasant an experience as the first one. So, you really can deal with Russ in complete confidence, Folks! Thanks Russ, and here's to the next one, though I hope its not such a long gap in-between as on this occasion. 👍😊 Cheers, Nik
  13. That's a beauty! Having owned a number of Ash bodied basses over the years, that looks very much like Ash to me... GLWTS 👍😊
  14. Yep... That's the one... Thanks! 👍
  15. It was a phenomenal bass; full USA spec, Moser circuit etc... 1984 I think. Bought from the old Bass Centre in Wapping. I spent a day there, tried out loads of basses, and came away with the Eagle. £450 at the time I think. When I stopped playing in 1996, I stupidly sold it to a guy who played bass for a Metal /Doom kind of band called Cathedral (or something like that..) He sold it to Oli in 2015, by which time it had a a bad neck break which was very well repaired at the time I think... Having said all of that, the Black Eagle I own now I've had since 2004 and have done so many gigs with it and still love it... So, all's well that ends well, etc, etc.. 😁
  16. I used to own this one back in the 90s... It's currently resides in Oli Foxen's studio in Bristol AFAIK.
  17. And that too is an awesome looking bass! Is he still around the, Neil (Moser) ?
  18. Thank you, Sir! 👍😊
  19. Love my '84 BC Rich Eagle...
  20. Hi Mick, I'm sure there's a good number of people who are able to help Ally from within the close-knit bass community that Nick had around him, and it's great to hear that you and other Basschatters are supporting her with this... I'm not sure what I may or may not be able to help with, but if you need any extra support with anything, just let me know.
  21. Excellent playing... Bass sounds great, too! 👏😊 GLWTS 👍
  22. Very, very sad to hear this news.. 😞 Such a talented musician with one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard in my life. Her performances and versions of 'Killing Me Softly' and 'First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' will never be equalled or bettered IMHO. RIP.
  23. Just bought some DR Black Beauties off Mike, aka @alyctes. Great strings, very fair price, extremely well packed, excellent comms and a great Basschatter to deal with. Highly, highly recommend - and even more so after reading the fab post above! Mike exemplifies everything that is good about Basschat... 👍👍 Thanks Mike and here's to the next time... 🙏😊
  24. Yep - sad news... Gone too soon. 😞 Always liked The Jam ; much more than most of Weller's solo output. Buckler was a very good drummer and he formed a great bass/drums unit with Bruce Foxton, and a very powerful musical trio with Weller ... Personally, I can't agree with the sentiment that they carried Weller's songs, many of which are absolute classics and follow down that line of great British songwriters from Ray Davies, to Pete Townshend, right through to Blur etc, etc. The main thing for me is that, together, they were just a great young band that was definitely more than the sum of the parts.. I met him once in the late 80s.. He owned a studio in the Liverpool Road / Angel area of London IIRC, and he showed me and my band mates around the place as we were potentially going to use it. Seemed like a fairly decent bloke too.. RIP.
