This has 2 bass lines. Both simple I'll grant you.

Have they been using "These go to twelve" knobs for very long? Or is this another case of U2 being a real life Spinal Tap?
-
Use nickel wound strings and then the strings wear before the frets

There's quite a few - the MM SUB that @ikay has now is a particular standout.
Edit - in fact I'm fairly sure it's his avatar. That says it all really!

I want one of these, wrong time of the month though.

Dammit! I want this but no funds until the 24th. Typical!

If wanting to add in some drive for certain songs only then many of the preamps on the market won’t be suitable.
For one many don’t have selectable gain, just a gain control and when this is turned up the volume goes up too.
For some others, Aguilar Tonehammer for example although the gain is selectable separately it really jumps the volume.
For these reasons I use the Ampeg SCR-DI, separate gain which can be added in when desired at no extra volume.
The Two Notes Le Bass will work for this, and has three different switchable modes (4 if you count off!)

We are called Aimless Arrows, a play on the Hawaiian proverb.

Is the neck plate the wrong way round?
Certainly looks like it - you can see an imprint in the finish.

I'll be there 👍

They could have at least tuned the bass before recording the video
Quite, that video made my brain itch

I play in the classical position, always have. I never really thought about it until fairly recently. I do have long arms though so have no problem with reach.

I'm interested to know more - is it a valve head?

I felt like I had a breakthrough with my Poly Blue last night. I used it on several songs, adjusting on the fly each time, and the sound was astonishing.
The combination of phase, octaves and the 'mono' button produced a quite remarkable sound.
Is this an octave pedal? Or is it a multi effects pedal? I used it to thicken the sound of one song played higher up the fretboard - a song which didn't need that synthy sound - for a disco synth sound, for a huge funky semi synth, which, combined with an envelope filter was wonderful.
Truly my favourite pedal.
Funnily enough I had a similar experience after reading this thread. I particularly enjoy giving it a fat fuzz from my Wooly Mammoth clone, mono mode, both octaves up and a bit of modulation makes for some incredibly juicy tones

I started with a Fender Bassman 100 + the old wardrobe sized 4x12. This caught fire.
A Laney PL100 combo was next. This expired with a pop-weeeee sound.
Then I had a couple of Ashdown Evo 300s, with a mixture of Ashdown and Bugera cabs. Still have a Bugera 2x10 but sold the rest as I didn't enjoy the sound.
Next up a TCE BG250 208, nice and light but a little gutless without an extension cab. I swapped this for a 1x15 version which is the amp I currently use the most.
I also have a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 which I run through a Taurus 4x10 if I need to get loud but this rarely happens. Am eyeing up either an all valve head to replace the Genz (Ampeg etc) or possibly something like the Purple Chili rig in the classifieds if it's still around at the end of the month.

I feel you. Chris Cornell was mine. Still occasional hits me out of the blue. It’s odd, isn’t it?
I'm still not over Chris, I can't listen to Gasoline without tearing up. Weirdly I can listen to Soundgarden ok but that song just hits me.

Love your bass's name!
Thanks! It came to me like that 🙂
I don't usually name them but this one has stuck.

If one is merely dipping a toe in fretless waters a good budget option is the Harley Benton Progressive - surprisingly decent and compares favourably with much more expensive instruments.

Amazing! Franz is absolutely fantastic and his audience seem like true music fans. I suppose they'd have to be, given his fondness for some of the most unloved musical instruments on earth.
Thanks! Yes, we are really looking forward to it 🙂
Taking this one very seriously, we have a job to do and professionalism is the watchword.

These are the mates we are all looking for.
We are a fortunate bunch! We record all our practice too, a real luxury compared to how things used to be..
