They couldn't. The average person on the street couldn't give 2 poops.
Ask 10 musos though, as they are people who actually care about music, and you might get a different answer.
Also - and this might shock some of you, they might even name some of the loads of women making an impact in music. Awesome, talented women in all fields and genres. They can wear what they like, call themselves what they like and what we should be doing is being cool and supportive, not being a bunch of old men shouting at clouds.
I'm bored of sausage parties.

I think the "Oh wow, a woman playing a bass" sentiment is still too prevalent, and certainly being played on here.
Suzi Quatro and "the girl who played for Robbie Williams" (Yolanda Charles) at a stretch, would be the only two the general public would be aware of. Very sad really.
Never heard of Gail Ann Dorsey then?

I've only ever owned six basses: two of those were Peavey Milestone III's, so .......
I was just thinking that there was a considerable lack of Peavey content in this thread...

We've just released a new one, born out of grief and sadness we are very proud of this

I’ve reduced the price on this, thanks for all the positive comments.
It’s a fantastic bass and the scale length is a good compromise if you are struggling with a full scale but don’t like the feel of short scale basses.
Great price, these are really well-made instruments 👍

A lot of people have chosen to use a middle name, that's not unusual (Alexander Boris DePfeffel Johnson, anyone?). But the point for this discussion is that there's no basis for "correcting" Blu to Blue when the former is part of her actual given name as well as the name she uses.
This was my point 👍

From Wikipedia...
DeTiger was born in New York City and grew up in NoHo, Manhattan,[6][7] the daughter of visual artist Jonny DeTiger. Her older brother Rex suggested the name 'Blu' when she was born and her parents went along with it.

Your clutching at straws now, aren't you?
I'll spell her name how I like.
Can you explain this lack of respect?
Is it because she is attractive? Or just that she is more successful than you?
For reference, her name is her given name, not a showbiz nom de plume.

I have two J bodied bass guitars, they both have the correct width (42mm) nuts as I also struggle with J necks.
I also have a very early non-export PJ555 Boxer from Japan, it turns out that the first ones used a P profile neck too which worked out well for me!

I find the B3K very capable, can be set to a mild drive or something a lot more grunty

Proper punk this..
I had a woman ship
I took her overseas
She left her hull unlocked
I had to find a dock
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
We didn't use cruel words
To navigate cruel seas
The wind was biting hard
At times I had to scream
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
And when we reached the land
We went aground on the rocks
Became a wreck in the sand
Became a home for a flock
We ventured overland
Fought with the aliens
The young ones used their hands
Pointed the way to a flock
A flock of seagulls!
A flock of seagulls!
Then we retraced our steps
Rebuilt the woman ship
I took her back up north
I lost her in the fog
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler on the sea
I was a toiler
I was a toiler
I was a toiler
On the sea
On the sea
I was a toiler
I was a toiler
On the sea
I was a toiler
A toiler
A toiler

We got given those! I recently purchased the subs and they are a matching set 🙂

JJB on prog

One of my first favourite bands - I still have the family copy of Black and White which I played to death, and a good chunk of my first paypacket was spent on Rattus.
I'm sure I heard JJB say that he thought they were quite prog in an interview a while ago, I can definitely see it 🙂

I'm comfortable with both. Sometimes if my hand is playing up I'll use a pick live so as not to reach the limit of endurance, but other than that I select the method to suit the sound I'm after for any given song. It's good to keep well practiced at both.
Some songs suit different techniques for sure. We have one in our set list I've never been happy with, tried it with a pick yesterday and it suddenly all fell into place.

I once saw legendary stoner metal band Kyuss live. Obviously all the band were high but drummer Brant Bjork had clearly had a lot of hallucinogenic and was out of his tree. He was definitely seeing something strange. He didn't miss a beat though. Absolutely solid for the whole show. At the end, he just sat there while the band left the stage, a tech had to come back on and get him.
Can a band be considered stoner if they aren't high?
To answer the original question - drugs might not make someone a better player, but having a good time might 😀

Hi Breadbin, I know this is from a good way back (April 24th, this year), but you mentioned also having "one of these". Do you happen to know if this is, indeed, an SB-303? I wasn't sure if my observation was correct. I struggle with telling all the different models of SGC nanyo apart.
Many thanks again for all your help,
Paul.
Hi fella, I'm sorry but I really am unsure what model mine is. It's a fretless with the remains of some shiny silver paint and black hardware!
By far the lightest bass I own, its sat in my project rail awaiting some love.

I use Dava Control picks, they have a thin section so you can alter the stiffness by rolling your fingers down the pick. Look em up, they are fab!

Ironic that you are calling me out when Tim is one of the worst for point scoring posts. I've never known anyone else who can confuse their opinion with fact more!
