  1. Short scale long horn thumper - with not so common silver burst that shimmers in the light - think this was 2004 edition

Made in Korea featuring dual lipstick pickups, old style bridge, rosewood fingerboard and replacement GOTOH (I think) lightweight tuners (a better upgrade). Pearl pickguard which is often missing on these- comes with old style fender bag, and a strap that fits somehow through body? (not tried it - might be round the neck)  weighs - 6lbs. 4oz

Someone has tried to put a bridge on but filled it in - doesn't affect playability - Also i put new GHS flats on but the nut is metal and the e string is a little too thick - so i'll put in rounds that were on it when it was perfect then you can choose - i dont want to file the nut

Selling as car has decided to die on me and looking expensive so just before Xmas

Postage £25 or collection/near by meet up in Clitheroe/North West

The 70s PBasses do it for me in both vids, they just seem to have a bit more bite to them and sound like they're snarling their way through a song!

yeah me too also like the 62 reissue - will watch this again soon

  3. I watched on my iMac which is great for bass - the Noble did sound more how I like bass to sound but as you said minimal - as most of the guys said on the clip - so JDI or Ampeg might be more of a proposition- also imagine losing a Noble at a gig! If I was a pro bassist maybe. The Sean Hurley Noble vids are good but he’d make anything sound good as it’s technique more than anything

    Thanks for posting that.

My personal preferences were: 1) Noble. 2) Zod 3) RedDi 4) Radial JDI. and I wasn't keen on the other three.  If the Ampeg and Colourbox had been dialled in differently I might have liked them but I wasn't keen on the sounds from the clips above.

I can't justify the expense of the noble, particularly with how the £ has been doing in this last week!  But, the Radial JDI would be very convenient on a board with required pedals and EQ (or an active bass).  The Zod and Reddi sound great but they are far too big.

I agree if money was no object then Noble but I did see another video on that guys channel looking at the Ampeg and it does look versatile- more research needed

Well, I took both basses to the rehearsal but the old faithful 2012 US Precision stayed in its case - the sunburst 2010 with GHS flats sounded just perfect, even though it was only going through a TE Elf and Super Compact. I will try a back to back comparison with the 2012 US Standard that has LaBella 760 FLs on, but both sound wonderful.

Howdy sir, just bought a US Standard 2013 (awaiting NBD) and usually had been either La Bellas or TI flats but after seeing so many good reviews for GHS Precision flats - i've just bought some from Stringsdirect - Did you find them sticky - in rehearsal never do but have done when gigging  - also how do you find the tension compared to your Standard with 760FLs on?

  6. that's a beauty of a P - i got a lovely aged white gone cream CIJ from GAS STATION - had to spend cash with luthier to sort neck bend and electronics which they refunded me - so agreed should spend more time sorting before sending but good prIces and really good selection of stock

That looks awesome. I’ve just got hold of a cij on-62 and it’s ace. I’d say a step up in tone from my American Special. The neck on the American Special is ace and this is too in a different way. A bit more depth but just as easy to find my way around. Can’t fault the build quality. Hope it goes awesome.

Thanks Thunderpaws - I agree these are ace! I've really connected with this bass and been playing it everyday - i keep picking it up - it's become number one bass - it's not got the power of my custom build who's neck is more forgiving - the CIJ is more precise which the clue is in the name but there's something about the neck that i love - so good like you say to get around it

I also had a white PB62 that had aged to a lovely cream - that was superb - but this one is the one!...for now (damn you GAS)
