Reluctant sale but needs must-ang ha

CIJ Fender Mustang bass - serial number comes up 1994 (and was bought by me advertised as 94( but CIJ started 1997 - so Q should be 02-04. Then again apparently there were some CIJ used as a crossover- so It’s either 22 or 30 years old - anyway it’s a cracker.

Sanded and waxed body (bought like this) gives it a really beautiful aged look and very resonant, set up with brand new TI lightest guage flats - so very low tension - I’ve also had the neck gloss sanded off and olied by luthier pal - super fast to play.

I’ve had him install hand wound Northern Pickups vintage Alnico 5 pickups (like the JMJ) which came on a parchment guard (original tort guard will be included but not original pickups)- 7.6 k - lifetime guarantee- which has given it a bit more bit than old stock ones - please note that the thumbrest isn’t installed on the new pickguard

Has a kiog0n solder less loom bought on here from the man himself - with wooden knobs (original blank ones will be included)

Comes with fitted gig bag which is a good fit.

Price is lowest I can let go for to claw back what I paid plus the money I’ve thrown at it. Easily better than the JMJ neck and feels very much like the 76 MIA I had.

Collect from Clitheroe or will meet up within 30 miles for petrol or £30 posted to UK only

I gig mine regularly. Never felt any need to change it. Great bass.

Im getting involved in a new project where a jazz set up with some groundwounds might be the thing. I really like the green one. So seeing your comment has made me think yeah why not. Laura Lee’s SX is sxy 😂

  3. Less than month old La Bella mustang string through bass strings - cut and seated for Mustang string thru bass - gigged twice. 43/60/82/104 guage

just prefer TIs. What I love about these la bellas is the polished feel - so smooth- the TIs are bit sticky (which is annoying) but slightly lower tension which I’m used to

Price includes postage - so half price new strings

  4. having read this thread - i went to David at Northern Pickups - got the vintage pups with alnico5 not overwound - as the JMJ has A5 magnets and i like the tighter bottom end and slight more bite - still sounds vintage and i really like them, David sent them attached on a pickguard - so no faffing with springs and i wanted a new parchment guard - swapped them out to a solderless kiOgon loom from here with full size pots. - dont do what i did and put them on wrong way round and send a pic to ki0gon for him to point out i had a pot in the jack hole haha oops embarrassing -  sounds great though-- i had to use a hair dryer just to warm the guard up so it'd make the fit round the neck easier

Sorry I'm not in need of a Mustang case but could you tell me more about your bass as I don't think I've seen one in that finish before, what model is it please?

    Good luck with your sale.

Howdy it’s a CIJ from 94 and finish has been stripped by a previous owner. Tone pot didn’t work when I got it. It’s at guitar tech to be fixed and neck back stripped and oiled

Then I’m going to put a white pickguard on it with wooden thumb rest - wooden tele-style knobs and set up with La Bellas 760MUS

  7. I know this has been covered and I’ve been reading posts but I have specific questions that I’d appreciate your views.

Best flats for string through mustangs

    id like:

    low tension

    not sticky

    good low end

I’ve had 3 mustangs before - ah make that 4 with a Squier (actually 5 but sent one back due to poor QC)- but I’ve used TI flats in nearly all of them apart from first one a 66 which I had deep talking flats which were too stiff. And the TI coating makes them sticky - love TIs on 34”

So what I’m asking is - would you got for La Bella MUS or LFTs - which are lower tension (guessing LFT but can they be strung through) or maybe another brand like Pyramid?

    Cheers 🍻

  8. IMG_9228.thumb.jpeg.f30cea2a3975f972c4a64775fe388f24.jpegUp for grabs superb AO series Jazz bass in lovely nitro candy apple red nitro. It’s a lovely looking thing!

The pick ups pure 64s are only available in this bass and the Flea bass- and arent available to buy i believe - but they are probably the best I've ever experienced, very articulate, precise but warm and fulsome.

I had guitar tech pal- sand the neck down to bare (as the nitro was sticky and still had poss 5 more years to fully cure) then lightly oiled, so smoooooth - the neck is a hard maple with a lovely deep dark rosewood, with slightly chunkier feel than most jazzes i've played - the radius isn't original though it's a more comfy 9.25 than the 7.5 of the 60s basses with tall narrow frets in great condition. Set up with new TI flats with nice low action.

    Reverse gear tuners, hootenanny button

Weight is approx 9.5lbs - i have no scales but have had multiple 4 hour rehearsals on a strap and never felt too heavy - hell if you're nice to me i'll thrown in the 3" wide strap i bought for this

Comes with all the case candy and spare mint green guard had made for it - but no original case - for shipping i have a funky vintage green fur lined wooden case (please note this is for shipping and free as one of the hinges has loose screws) or can add Gator Transit case in tan that fits it like a glove for £50 - will advertise it separately for £70

There has been a repair to slight ding on lower bout in pic and very faint - apart from the looks and sounds amazing

Selling to recoup money from a vintage bass purchase

Prefer you to come play it in clitheroe or meet up north west or west yorks, but can ship for £30 insured to UK only - very sensible offers considered IMG_9201.png

can be seen sort of here iphone sound through borrowed amp
