  1. Firm price final drop

I love this bass but why am i selling it - it's because i have sausage fingers and this has a narrow 16mm string spacing - still very playable but just prefer wider

Apart from that it sounds superb and as a glassy neck that's the fastest i've ever had, effortless McCartney/Byrds tones - warm woody thump.

I took this and an MIA Pro P Bass to a studio session and used this on 7 out of 8 tunes - can here it here (Back out on the Run is the only P Bass track) https://greenhorses.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-milkshed

Blurb: Number 40 of only 75 made (or might be 70) comes with Chris Hillman signed certificate of ownership. Signed on the trust rod cover. Byrds logo inlay at 12 fret.. Awesome Bisonic pup, 8.5lbs but feels way lighter compared to my J bass which is 9.5lbs, for a short scale 30 3/4 inch with big body it feels more like a full scale bass at 46" in total length. Bone nut. cream binding, arched laminated maple in beautiful sunburst. Strung with D'addario flats and set up by my guitar tech pal so has a super low action with no fret buzz or dead spots.

    Can be seen here

It does not have the case but i have a padded gig bag that fits perfectly and sturdy box for UK shipping at £25 - or meet up in North West/ West Yorks - i'd be happier if you came and played it if you can.

    Sale only please no trades

I'll try one, big fan of 'em, have a few different widths for more/less damping (used on a P/J with D'Add chrome flats).

**TRICK** do we all do this? Put a slight taper on the foam so wider at 4th/E  and less so at 1st/G. Otherwise you get way more damping as the string gauge goes down. It's just an approximate thing - treble side of foam around 3/4 the width of bass side. Based on the amount of energy in the vibrating string, a lot more as you move from the G towards the E so for even damping effect you need more foam progressively towards the E.

Yes used to do that but with this i have torn the fabric more toward D and G and then hidden under ashtray - means on all the time but suits my sound for what i do 🙂

Hi, I've got a P bass with Geezer Butler EMGs on it, I fancy dipping my toe into the world of flats, looking for recommendations please. I have a set of rotosound flats 45-105, I could just put those on but wanted to ask the community.

I vote TI Flats or La Bella LTF

  4. Bought this today and stuck under the strings on my jazz then cut into it where strings indented it. Then I slightly pulled it apart ahd kept doing so until the tension on the strings became light and it sounds great.

less mutey than a Nordy and hidden under my ashtray - gigging it Friday

PVA sponge - mailable and smells like Playdoh £2.90!

The second 3TS belonged to a very famous jazz pro who was my first teacher.

The second red one I was about to buy but then I scored one local to me. The guy was nice to deal with however…

Thanks Michelle I have bought an American Original from a person in here. It’s great too

You might not save much percentage-wise on the overall weight of the bass, but due to the leverage effect of the tuners being right at the end of the neck, it will alter the balance and probably make the bass more comfortable to wear.

If you replace the original tuners (let's say 100g each) with some lighter ones (let's say 60g each), that would be 160g saved in total over the four tuners. You can trial the change in weight and balance before buying anything by removing one (100g) or two (200g) of the current tuners.  160g is of course about in the middle.  Remember these numbers are just an example - use the actual weight of the tuners concerned in your case.

I got an extra wide strap and it was fine for a 3.5 hour rehearsal- thought May get some gotoh lollipop ones one day

Oh hell yes!  That's a thing of beauty.  One of the guitarists in my band has a CAR Telecaster and he's very keen to get me to buy a bass in the same colour - one like this would be ideal!

How did it play at rehearsal?

Just back and Mon dieu it was superb - going through ash down Evo 2 the old one with 8x10 - had to turn it down to quarter volume and a touch of gain. It’s a keeper!  GET ONE!

  8. Bought this from fellow BCer

Fender Am Original Jazz in CAR

I decided against the self build project for now and fell in love with this lovely thing and with la bellas on but switched out for TI flats and sanded down the gloss on the neck a tad and bingo - blimey what a great sounding bass this is. Articulate, warm yet punchy, bottom end full as a man who has seen a 3 for 1 in a pie shop and bought 6 pies for lunch!

the neck is quite chunky - not a baseball bat but something to get used to and it’s quite heavy - would lightweight tuners make that much difference? It’s alright on a strap - I love the neck - gonna stick with it

    rehearsals tonight can’t wait 😛

  9. Anyone got a 4 string bass mute contraption by Ellio Martina? Tried the website and filled in the form twice now and seems to have stopped making them. Prefer 19mm

I specifically need a mute I can engage and disengage that allows me to play towards the neck. Can’t do this when palm muting and Nirdy mute is bit too mutey
