  1. Well didn't think i'd be selling this but just fell in love with a CIJ P Bass and it's one in one out with me. I may regret it.

This as others here will attest, a lovely bass based on the famous 64 Bruce Thomas was famous for, there has obviously been a lot of love and care gone into crafting this bass.

One of the nicest necks i've played, custom designed to Bruce Thomas' high standards, it's a 40mm nut width and as it has a satin finish, it is a joy to play with rolled edges so no fret sprout.

The orange body (salmon pink officially but looks orange to me) looks amazing and looks different in different lights but always wow. The pups are very hot, custom wound for Bruce and the response from hi to low is great.

Has old school roller bridge saddles for custom string spacing, which is about 19mm on this bass. Freshly strung with brand new light gauge EB roundwounds for super ZING! No dead spots and intonation good - i've added the ashtray cover can remove if you prefer

No dings or scratches that i know of, never gigged but seeing as bought last summer that's no surprise. Also comes with brand new Fender gig bag. If this had a Fender logo on it it would be over 1k easy

Can post for £20 to UK only im afraid as Brexit has messed up buying/selling abroad big time (took 45 days to return an amp to Germany this year) but if the bass doesn’t sell - I’ll take that as a sign that I need 2 p basses

Plus a signed copy of BT’s Rough Notes book - a must read for bassists

I use an LM3 or LM Little Markus 500 with a pair of NY121s.  To be honest I've always found the sound with a single cab to be a bit boxed in when using my JMJ or Mikey Way Mustangs but the sound really opens up and has more authority when using 2 cabs.  I only go single cab for rehearsals in small rooms for this reason and even at a small gig where the single 12" would have enough volume I still use 2 (both with the tweeters down to zero).

i might get the NY121 extension but went MB for potability or the Fender 500 but to be honest - we only tend to play 300 capacity places - GASing on a MIJ P bass which may be the answer haha

Well I gigged with the Markbass today, at a filming session in a theatre in Edinburgh, for the Jazz & Blues Festival.

It was certainly powerful enough to compete with a loudish drummer.

The sound tech actually used a mic on it and didn't bother with a DI.

I had it at about 11 O'clock on the master and I played my P bass.

The bass and low mid were at about 1 O'clock.

So a pretty successful first outing.

Great stuff - good that it was 🎤 up too

    I just bought a Markbass CMD 121P.

I've got a gig this weekend and I'll be taking it with me.

I've got an amp stand which will tip the speaker up towards my ears to help clarity.

I've used one before, that was supplied at a gig, and really liked the sound.

We'll see how the gig goes and then I'll report back.

I got a great little stand from my sister as a present - good luck with gig 👍

  5. At low volume it is superb - what I’ve settled on is low gain more volume, bass on 11pm lo mid 10pm, hi mid 12pm, high 1pm - vpf off and vle 9pm which sits good in the mix but don’t like it in its own - without vle it’s clanky and with it adds mud but rounds out the mids. With the fender I just set it flat and more gain that volume and was great - but not tried BT Pbass loud through Fender

Love the recording, sounds great in that mix, is that a Mandocaster the 4th member is playing ?

Thank you! i believe it is the Mandocaster -  Ian can play just about anything you put in his hands - we were missing our lead player too due to covid restrictions in his town that day

  7. Selling my Danelectro 63 short scale- very 60s woody sound akin to a semi acoustic due to material used in construction. Twangy thumpy finger tone but kerplunky with plec set up with flats- crazy low action super fast to play - little scratched in pics bout over 16 years old

Prefer collection only or can deliver within 50 miles of Clitheroe - or can post at buyer's liability

Here it is in action played with plec through Fender Rumble 200 Head and 210 cab

Hi - thanks for getting back to me. Sorry, things moved on - bought a little MarkBass combo - not convinced so may get back to you!! Updating a cab and selling stuff on Ebay - so have to wait until that's sorted - or not - before deciding on a 'new' head. Apologies again, Bob

    No worries Bob

I bought the Mark Stand but it hasn't been out of its bag - instead I picked one of these up:

    https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/braeda-laptop-support-black-60150176/

Fits perfectly, and tilts it at just the right angle. You lose any floor coupling, but works well if you're on top of your amp. I've even used it on top of the extension cab.

that's a good idea -i usually am on tight stages to right next to amp - much cheaper than this i was looking at

So on balance if you're not going to get stunningly loud, you aren't going to be rushed to set up, you aren't playing in venues where you wipe your feet on the way out but you are pushed for space and you want the more refined option then I'd say get the Markbass. Otherwise, the Fender ticks a lot of boxes!

Hi ED_S this is very helpful - I dont need very loud and hate hums as i'll probably use it to record - we record live (overdub vocals only) so Markbass it is and going to buy a little amp stand to till it back - having no feet is a bit of an oversight - i'll buy some and put them on
