That's a very good point!! I didn't realise you could play a Shewee tho?? π€
At least I have changed my mind right at the beginning of the build this time not half way thru!!! π
Right I've decided this is the winner but a 5er
Just got to slightly change the body shape so the waist is a bit more rounded than on the P body......... π
Damn it!! I just played one of my mates 5 string Stingray and that's got me GASing for one so now I'm in two minds whether to carry on with this build or change it slightly to a Stingray instead or maybe make a Tele/Stingray Hybrid?? (I don't know how that would work maybe a single MM pickup??).......... π
Router bits turned up yesterday so got the body all shaped.......
The back and sides have been sanded to 240 grit now just got the top to do......... π
Ooohhhh have you got any pics of the body so far?? I've been waiting for router bits so I can carry on with my 51 P bass build so I feel your pain......... π
Sorry @vinorangeI'm not trying to hijack your thread I searched for stack pots with independent V & T for each pickup and your thread came up so I thought I'd tag along for the ride......... π
Yeah sorry @Andyjr1515 for the confusion I basically want to do similar to what the OP has asked but mine won't involve any switches
I've just been discussing on my 5 string Tele/P build about having 2 stacked pots with independent Vol and tone for each pickup so I'd be really interested in seeing a wiring diagram of how to make it work but mine won't involve any switches.
I am worse than useless when it comes to wiring it took me about a month to try and work out how to replace a blend pot on an active harness to make it active/passive on a push/pull pot instead then I gave up and I rung my Dad for advice still couldn't understand it so I posted it to him to do for me instead ........ π
Good shout! I've never had or wired up stack knobs so please forgive my ignorance but can you set them up so you have volume on top and tone one the bottom or vice-versa?
Just had a thought if I go with the 2 pickups I would probably wire it the same as a Jazz so that means 3 knobs and I've just bought my control plate I wonder if I'd have enough room to drill another hole in it or would the knobs be far too close together?? π€
Thanks everyone! I do like the idea of the simple/traditional-ish 1 pickup as pointed out by @SpondonBassed but then @Woodinblack makes a good point it might kind of look quite generic just with a different style pickup where as I know you can get P/J 50s style Tele basses but I've never seen one with 2 soapbar pickups so I'm thinking that maybe that's the way to go..........π
I'm having a bit of a play with the pickup config I can't decide if I should go for 1 soapbar or 2??
I think I prefer 1 in the neck position as its a bit more traditional??
Opinions please............... π
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it on Saturday now one of the other Joiners has had a bereavement in the family so I've offered to cover his shift, I suppose there's always next year!! βΉοΈ
I've decided to remake the body as I want to do it in a 50s slab body style and it's going to be made out of Pine
The blank is all cut and ready to glue up luckily I've got some really clear pine so I won't have to worry about any knots.......... π
The only info I could find out about it is it was made by a Germany company called Hotwire they call it the Vintage 51 Passive Blonde Electric Bass...... π
