  1. Hi King Prawn. Is your D800+ still for sale? Can you tell me how old it is and how well gigged? Also a description of what the 'voice' does to the tone would be helpul. Thanks Piers
  2. Does he do commissions? It looks 'the elephant's pajamas'!
  3. I am lucky enough to own two Fender CS Jazz basses. One a 66 lollypop bass evidences very little single coil hum. My pride and joy, a 61 stack knob jazz displays a lot of hum within about a foot of my amp (I like playing with the neck pickup dialed back a couple of notches and appreciate this might be one of the reasons for the hum). Does the Custom Shop reproduce the old habits of Jazz's faithfully. i.e. are Stack nob jazz's louder on the hum front?
  4. My fave, but it feels like it might not have started out as a Christmas number!
  5. You could always try this for a really fantastic vintage repro sound: PJB 8*5 (briefcase amp plus extension set flat) plus Noble valve pre amp, plus compressor.....Plus Jazz!
  6. OK, I'm new to the game of couriers etc, but fellow basschatters give me some confidence that I can ship the amp. Would purchasers be willing to pay the courier cost if I sort it?
  7. Much loved, but played rarely. Fully serviced by Guitar Aid. Fan replaced when it got noisy otherwise faultless. All knobs there and working. I bought it second hand a least 20 years ago and had flightcase made. Seriously loud bit of kit (vol knobs in photos show the max I needed to play it!). Serial number clearly legible on back - I think that dates it to either Q4 or April 1993. Almost vintage! Prefer collect
  8. 2 Cabs and Covers. 600w I have had both for c 20 years. My osteopath tells me I should sell up! Played c 4 times a year (I have a smaller pub rig). I cab is slightly older than the other (see back plates). Boogie fans will know the difference. Prefer collect from W London
  9. Is it just me...or was he just learning to play the fretless in the studio
  10. So here's my compromise answer. Two CS Jazz, one a 66 replica (Like Lee's sunburst but new (ish)) and the other is supposed to be a replica 62 stack knob, but has some minor artistic license (like no mutes). I've had the 66 longer and is marginally nicer to play, but I always wanted a Lake Placid Blue Jazz
  11. The Derek Forbes line that started all the others: Premonition
  12. That's nice. I'm a lefty born in 1961. Feels an expensive quest to source a lefty stack-knob jazz!
  13. I took photos of Lindisfarne in the early eighties at Leeds Uni. I vaguely knew who they were, but to be at a gig where 2000 members of the audience knew every word to every song was a revelation and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. A truly brilliant live act!
  14. I really enjoyed Geoff Lynn's ELO performance at the 02 Last night. It was the first time I've seen Lee play (not being a Take That fan). He was playing what I guess was a L/H custom shop pre-cbs Jazz with matching headstock. Anyone know what it is? And great performance Lee if you read this!
  15. Some great choices with which I agree, esp Jaco on Shadows and Light. No one has mentioned anything by China Crisis from the 80s and didn’t Bruce Thomas play some great fretless in the Attractions somewhere?
  16. I think you are describing my bass. Is it the one on the L/H section of the Bass Gallery? Nearly 40 years ago I bought what must have been a 77 or 78 P Bass new, but customised it out of sight. It was a 'Friday afternoon' Fender bass and not much good, so I sold it. This one (which is also very close to the S/N) above, is VERY heavy, but sounds amazing. I could be playing in the Stranglers! I feel like I've got my youth back (but not my back!)
  17. If your 'on hold' folds I will purchase. Piers (London) 07932 701430
