  1. hi there, im looking for any advice on pick up choice. iv been using the realist pickup for a number of years now and iv never got what i call a decent sound from it. I know a lot of people rave about them but it aint working for me. Iv resolved most of the feedback issues with blocking the f holes and putting foam under the fingerboard and Eq ing , but another two gigs at the weekend with a bad sound drives you crazy. iv tried plugging straight in to an amp, or into the effects return, tried using different d i, but it looks like this pickup aint for me. iv ordered a new set of strings (helicore hybrids), and im looking at getting a new pickup maybe a bassmax ? but another £100 is a lot of cash if it still doesnt work for me, any advice from anyone is greatly appreciated on which way to go. thanks, jimmy.
  2. set of super silvers for sale, been on my bass since 22nd march, i wanted to try them out , but iv always used steel , and im goin back to them. £45 posted. cheers.
  3. cheers mate , prob a bit more than i can afford right now though.
  4. Hi There Looking to buy a recording interface and wish to record up to 4 tracks simultaneously into pc. I'm currently using windows 7, mixcraft 5 (which is capable of multi recording), but my sound card is only capable of recording lef/right/stereo. I've got an Emachine EL1352 with a standard sound card. Can anyone recommend a compatible onboard/outboard card that will give me the ability to record up to 4 tracks at the same time. Help!!
  5. hi there , dont know if youd be interested in a set of innovation super silvers as a part exchange of some sort ? iv always had steel strings on my bass and bought these to try them out but prefer steels . cheers.
  6. The super silvers are said to be medium tension , being used to the steels i would say these are a lot more loose but not too floppy. the difference in feel is in the way you can slide your finger on the steels easily , where as with these it feels (as someone else said , ropey ) i dont know if thats the right word but it kinda feels that way . my bass is set up with a medium to high action ,and these are a bit more noisy on the fingerboard, but im tryin to use a softer touch to control it. as i say its early days for me and i will make my mind up in a week or so . hope this helps, jimmy.
  7. iv just fitted a set of super silvers after doin some research , iv had a set of steels on my bass for the past 8 years and fancied a change. these new ones are not steel and they have more of an old style sound, good for folk, country, blues, slap, but i ll still be playing jazz on them when i can. i v only had them on for a couple of days but so far im happy with them, they sound and feel very different to what im used to, so i ll have a better opinion over the next few weeks. strings are so expensive, youv just got to do your research and buy what sounds like the best one for you. As i say im no expert, just my tuppence worth. good luck .
  8. great bass playing, and great music, the first tune is awesome !
  9. cheers for your comments guys
  10. I had an ns for a while, but i never really took to it, its a great sound and no more feedback probs, but i just missed the size and feel and sound of my upright. It was just something i had to try. good luck., jimmy.

  13. What ?
  14. hi guys just another question regarding strings, iv been playin upright for about 12 years, its had the same steel strings on it from when i got it, i dont know what kind they are, but the guy who fitted them at the time said they were good for playin jazz, which is the reason why i bought the upright. i was thinkin of changin my strings , as i now play a lot of swing ,country type stuff to, i dont really slap a lot but like the idea, iv been readin a lot about the silver slaps, and wonder how they, or any other string will change tone ,feel etc, . would these older strings make intonation more difficult too, it just seems that way. thanks in advance for any expert advice. jimmy.
  15. great version mate , love that song

  17. i dont think a 2 band eq would b suitable for me , cheers mate .
  18. im lookin to fit an onboard eq to my martin accoustic bass, iv got a k and k pickup fitted, but want to fit a preamp eq. looked at the fishman thing and theyre a fortune. anyone got any other recommendations a bit cheaper. cheers.
  19. i dont know man, sometimes i think we all (myself included) get caught up in the gear thing. i like everybody else is always lookin to improve my sound, maybe iv already got my sound but cant hear it........ theres so much stuff out there , i suppose its all good and like the man says, just find something that works for you.....
  20. I find the dha very good, great eq, and for boosting the signal, i just thought i was missing something with the fishman, but maybe not .
  21. yeah i know, really low volume almost accoustic and all seems ok, but when u want to compete with a loud band thats when the trouble begins. wouldnt it be great to hear that total accoustic sound in all situations. neverending quest.
  22. cheers guys
  23. hi there im lookin at poss buying a fishman platinum for use with my upright and also for using with my accoustic bass guitar. iv got a realist on my upright, and a k k on the accoustic bass. iv currently got a dave hall d.i. e.q. that i use with them. will the fishman make a huge difference to my sound , iv read a lot of great reviews about it. any added info would be great, cheers, jimmy.
