  1. If Canada's only contribution to music was Rush, that's be OK with me. However, The Great White North's contribution to music is huge, thinking just of Americana, the aforementioned Robbie Robertson, springs to mind, as do Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and , so a certain degree, Bryan Adams and k d Lang.
  2. Pretty much why I moved my ‘63 on. I was happily gigging it and, one day, I just started thinking about it being nicked or damaged (more than it was already, it really was a road warrior). It wasn’t until I bought my JMJ Mustang that I’ve had anything with that tone again.

    Me….

There’s me thinking to myself, “What?” Then there was the sound of a penny dropping from and great height (and probably bouncing ).
  6. I’ll Be Creeping - Three Dog Night
  7. The first Ric I tried was at a music show. The action/relief was so high, you could slide the palm of you hand under it, absolutely shocking. It wasn’t until years later, when GG started stocking them, that I thought I’d give them another go to see if they were still as dreadful, they were not and the tone was one of those, “I need this in life,” moments. Sadly, the improvements hadn’t worked down to the finer details, but I was too wrapped up in the sound to notice them at the time of purchase, which included a chunk out of the finish (I managed to get a discount for that though).
  8. Elles Bailey is one that immediately springs to mind, as is, young, local band, Longstay.
  9. Sounds great in this video, tasteful playing too. GLWTS.
  10. The lowest of low bars. My 4003s had a high nut and a skew bridge pickup surround. It was really a case of don’t look too closely as it’ll end in disappointment. Shame for such an iconic instrument. Sounded great nonetheless and didn’t play badly but, for the money, they should be better.
  11. I Feel Lucky - Mary Chapin Carpenter
  12. That’s some impressive tracking and reproduction, not at all ‘synthy’ to my ears.

  14. First time I’ve seen that, well done, Sir. Still a good percentage in I see. If GG in Edinburgh get a new Cali76 in, I think I’ll be done 😬.
  15. Who’s still in?
  16. The Trees - Rush
  17. Ultimately, it was a backhanded advert for short scales and, of course, SBL. Scott hamming it up to make a point. Add a nice, clickbaity title and folk are watching it. Then the YT payments start. Never forget, SBL is a business with staff to pay and the YT output is a revenue stream. I quite like the Scott/Ian videos, but they’re not to everyone’s taste.
  18. May 1st and still in, I’m impressed with myself However, the new Cali compressor and a set of EMG GZRs are making it difficult to keep abstaining.
  19. Hole in my Shoe - Traffic
  20. That’s Not My Name -The Ting Tings
  21. Question for the short scale collective: has anyone replaced the PJ pickups in their shorty, with EMG GZRs? If so, how did it turn out? I’m wondering about ordering some for my HB ‘stangalike, but saw on the shortscale FB group that someone had had poor results, with regard to boominess.
  22. I keep telling myself that I’m completely happy with my MXR M87 and I am, but the new upgrades on the Cali are proving a good argument for a big upgrade.
  23. My Sweet Lord - George
