  1. Ronnie Wood - really badly. Timing was off and no dynamics. Jools playing piano 😒
  2. Since I bought the Maruszczyk Jake (or was it free with strings? 😉) I’ve bought a Sadowsky pre amp pedal and new body for my 6 string Tele, so I’m well out.
  3. It was ok, I guess. Lewis Capaldi plainly has some chops and has good comic timing when interviewed too. However, the mix still seems poor for the most part and do we really need yet another terrible version of Johnny B Goode? I can get that down at the local pub.
  4. I love that @Tech21NYC reads and contributes to BassChat. 👏👏👏
  5. To paraphrase messrs Townshend & Daltrey, meet the new bass, same as the old bass. Mind you, is anyone really surprised?
  6. You have to like the style and musical genre. JP was incredibly adept, as is, for instance, Jeff Berlin. However, neither float my boat particularly. I imagine that there are guitarists that aren’t keen on Hendrix, but that doesn’t lessen his ability or influence. It’s OK for folks not to like certain icons, in my mind, and those who say otherwise don’t understand art.
  7. Yeah, I’ve been there in the past, but in recent years I’ve bought kit for specific purposes and use them as such. This is not to say that I don’t experiment occasionally.
  8. That’s what I did. The basswood underneath wasn’t great, but it wasn’t too bad either. Required lots and lots of sanding though.
  9. Rubbish pano of the 'music room' at Ez Towers. For complete transparency, the acoustic guitars don't live in here, they're just there to made it look better and cover the radiator.
  10. The words that deflate a BCer more than any others, having seen the abbreviation NBD.
  11. I hate it when you trip and shove a credit card into a PDQ.
  12. I’m going to go with ‘different’. The addition of guitars made for added interest for me and also meant I went with guitar playing friends (it was a cool boys’ day out). However, that addition impinged on the bass workshops and performances. Location was OK, it certainly allowed for a post show curry and a mid show beer, but the architecture, although brighter and nice to look at, was acoustically challenging. Will I go again? That will all depend on who’s appearing and better forward planning of the same from the organisers.
  13. Missed the opportunity to have a matching surfboard.
  14. Six foot if I stand up straight first thing in the morning (gravity seems to exert more force the older I get). IIRC Pino is 6’7”.
  15. I sold mine, on commission, through The Gallery. Maybe check them out. Mods - I hope this was OK.
  16. I have to agree with @KevB about Blind Faith, they could have been great, but I found/find them decidedly meh. Another contender is The Firm. They were OK but should've been so much more.
  17. Ah, RS Components. When I was an office equipment engineer, I used to love trawling through the new RS catalogues when they came in.
  18. I suspect we may have witnessed an occurrence of ‘commentator’s curse’ here. Watch this space 😂.

    Preamp DI

Could this be answer as it is in budget?
  20. I didn’t make it as I wasn’t feeling so great. Glad it was yet another triumph (I’ve met Pete Stroud before and seen him play; top fella). The thing I’m most sad about is not being able to see, hear and play @Jabba_the_gut’s fine creations, it was a highlight for me last year. Perhaps in 2020.
  21. Pino's work with Paul Young. I was a fan of The Ox, Andy Fraser, Dee Murray and other players of that era, but when 'Hat' came out, it was a game (or more precisely instrument) changer.
  22. One, five; one, five; one, five. Hmm, maybe that’s just country music Basschatters (paraphrasing an old joke).
