All good! Yes it is exactly the same, the only difference is the control layout so you're right.

The bass is gone now, this is the only other photo I have taken from his bench. The bridge doesn't have adjustable string spacing.

I am not offended. I just don't think its very constructive to be told 'get a grip and do what I say'. I appreciate the input though.

UPDATE: Thank you all for your input! The bass is on its way back to the builder at no cost to me and I have been assured that it will be repaired and made perfect. I only shared the ugly aspects of it but it's not all bad, the bass plays really well and the neck is beautiful. It also looks awesome as long as you don't look too close. 😅 I'm not making excuses for him because obviously it should all be perfect. I am giving him a second chance because I did a lot of research on this guy and have spoken personally to someone who owns one, for some reason it seems like I got unlucky. I really want this bass and if it's not perfect I can always send it back again for a full refund although I pray that it doesn't come down to that. If I had a feeling that he was consistently putting out shoddy work and scamming people it would be a different story. He seems to be keen to make amends so fingers crossed.

Calm down, man. I had already decided it was unacceptable, I was looking for help and solutions on what to do about it. I have sent the bass back and he is going to refinish it.

I am definitely not going to name and shame but I will share this thread with him. It's also no where near the point of anything like legal action! I am sure he will be reasonable once we have discussed what to do moving forward, it's early yet.

Thank you for your opinions so far...I am too easy going with such things sometimes and the validation is appreciated. I have not named the builder yet because I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger and have only heard good things about his work, so this really seems to be an anomaly. Once all is resolved I will consider sharing the details. On the positive side it does play well and sounds good despite the issues.

I had a big birthday this year so as a nice treat I decided to order myself a custom bass. A lot of my favourite guitar players use Jazzmasters and being that there's no such thing as a Jazzmaster bass I designed one and got a fairly well known builder in Europe to make it for me, the name of which I will not share. There are a couple of big names that use these instruments. It arrived last week and I was immediately disappointed in the condition that it was in. Scratches and blemishes all over, tool marks on the scratch-plate, dirty binding with black sticky residue on the fret ends. The worst part was that the electronics (Nordstrand preamp and pups) are basically unusable as they are, lose roller pots, loud hum, popping input jack. The finish is nitro, which I understand is very delicate...but this just seems careless and rushed. I am sharing this because the builder has made excuses for these things in that it's kind of a prototype, he's not made a bass like this before. He makes Fender-esque basses but I don't think this is a radical departure from that, just the control layout is unusual. I would appreciate any opinions that you might have if this were to happen to you. I paid around £2300 which I understand is reasonable for a custom bass, but it's still a decent amount of cash.

How do you like the Midi Baby 3? I am thinking of getting one.

Decent and very musical so far although I haven't gigged with it yet. I had the TLC compressor before but it was never happy with my active bass and would distort sometimes, not the case with this one thankfully.

My current board. I am fairly happy with it, although I might have to get into the whole midi thing in order to use 2 switches and an expression pedal with the HX Stomp to get the most out of it. The metal box bottom right is a kit built Big Muff.

Well the dancing/fashion choices in the Rocco Palladino & Tom Misch video on that thread isn't up to much compared to this.

Hey guys, I thought i'd share my new video with you all here.
