  1. You don't need to grow a beard to look like a..... 😁
  2. Well that escalated quickly - it's only a flippin' acoustimacoustic bass
  3. My faith is restored. I find the pictured item to look like a badly sanded down sideboard with metalwork from an old Kenwood mixer. Phew. No gas with this one!
  4. Have you tried it with any drives/distortions before or after yet?
  5. After seeing @AndyTravis post above, I appear to be, er, washing my hair. I shall have to wait my turn for one of these Intertours... they do look rather tasty tho.
  6. Another update.. Gig on Saturday night - it was a pub having a festival. Pub Car park job. Sounded like it was going to be average at first, but it was a decent size setup and there were loads of people there! We did the main closing slot from 9.30 to 11.00 Took the FRFR and the new Dave Hall Preamp. DI out from FRFR to FOH which was really well set up and sounded glorious. The FRFR did a great job of giving over the fullness and "authority" of the DH Preamp and it's valve goodness. Plenty of volume and saved a load of space. Once again, did it's job well. Turned out to be the most enjoyable gig of the year so far..!
  7. Fight! Fight! Meet me in the car park in 10 😁
  8. I believe in common parlance that is called a "Target Burst" and very handy for practicing darts for the local pub team
  9. So I now need to fight @AndyTravis for any others that come up around and about then? 😁 Better get me gloves out! 😜
  10. Mrs B has officially given up and decided she might as well have some as well. I am basically now a slave to the stuff everyone posts here. My "wants" list looks like War and Peace. I didn't even know I fancied a thin line acoustic bass like this... but guess what?
  11. I appear to be popping over to the Peak District on Thursday to pick it up... crikey
  12. I'm getting my account closed. I keep coming on here and find yet more stuff that people have posted that I didn't even know I wanted or needed.
  13. What makes those bisonics different sound wise?
  14. No I don’t think you are being fussy - it’s a buyers market in the used stuff these days - there’s a lot about for sale but not a massive number of buyers. There’s lots of great bargains to be had and if you are spending your hard earned dosh then why not be picky?
  15. It’s funny isn’t it - back in the late 90s when I first played bass (had a gap as a multiinstrumentalist from 2000-2011ish) everyone I spoke to said “don’t buy a Warwick, they were ace but they are rubbish now” - so I didn’t and it’s sort of affected my view - I kinda don’t usually consider them as an option. Hmmm.
  16. I guess rarity is going to be the issue. There’s a few others I’d like to try listed above but in my budget it’s used, and it seems that the better they are the more people hold on to them and don’t sell them
  17. No, hence emailing him to arrange to go over and try it It is different, and I like that, and if it feels good then we’re on.. But I do have an ACG possible to ponder as well now and that’s very tempting too.. I’m going to end up with two, aren’t I?
  18. That’s got a bit of Charvel or Danelectro about it - other possible sources?
  19. (And if I end up spending the cash then I blame peer pressure)
  20. It’s gone way beyond that - I’ve emailed Jon...
  21. When I first tried wireless I wandered off into the main part of the venue whilst sound checking... the bass sounded so much better... so much better.
  22. The one place in any venue where bass sounds worse than anywhere else is right next to the cab where the bass player stands....
  23. That’s a really nice bass...
  24. Interesting - mentally noted that in case it does ever leave the house!
