1. I'm also very surprised; I'd snap this up if I could move on my Starcaster and make some room!
2. Met Mike the other day to sell my spare amp. Lovely guy and would be happy to deal with him again!
3. Did a pedalboard trade at the weekend; James kept in comms and we met up with no problems at all. I'd happily deal with him again.
4. Made a purchase recently and was very happy to deal with someone who knew their stuff, took care of their kit and was happy to chat about his other kit- all useful for a relative newbie such as myself!
5. ----- SOLD ----- PRICE: £700 This wondrous (and decidedly weighty) amp is not being used since my move to bass playing, so it should go to someone who will appreciate it. It comes with a soft dust cover and tremolo pedal. Bought in the early 90s and not used in anger aside from two small gigs and practice in the house, this is a superb amp. I could go on and on about its valve warmth, Eric Clapton etc etc but maybe have a look at a video review instead: Review here: https://www.youtube....h?v=iT4i6eMxEHw Aside from a small hole in the cloth grille where a screw has nipped it, this is in good condition, with valves in good order, new pots put in and PAT tested. It's just over 30kg so I'm really not keen on posting it!
6. PRICE AMENDED: £125 Trimming down my collection (see my signature block for other items) so I'm hoping to move these on to a good home. Postage at buyer's cost or near Bristol for collection / meet-up: £45 EHX Micro Q-Tron Envelope Filter c/w original box and manual. Mint condition. I’ve tried several analog and digital EFs and, despite this being cheaper than most, I think this has the warmest tone without being ‘clicky’. SOLD [s]£80 Boss PS-6 Harmonist. Mint condition c/w box and manual. This thing tracks very well and does a fine job of pitch-shifting, harmonising and includes a ‘dive-bomb’ pitch bending function. Thought I’d use this a lot – I don’t![/s] SOLD [s] £60 Boss PW-10 V Wah. A now discontinued wah wah pedal from my guitar days. Has a range of settings covering the popular varieties of wah wah pedal. In great condition but without original instructions (can be found online).[/s]
7. Hi there, It's 10lb 1oz, 4,58kg. Not the lightest, but the weight is distributed rather well. More details at: http://shop.fender.com/en-GB/electric-basses/other/starcaster-bass/0243302506.html
8. Ah, the 550. This is how I end up spending more than anticipated!
9. Really helpful, thanks guys for the more recent posts. Confirms what I've seen about some folk having to crank the 1001 to get the very best out of it. I guess the 700 would be a better option even going through an 8 Ohm cab.
10. Much obliged, thanks folks. I'm in Bristol so Harrogate would be a touch too far I think!
11. Firstly, I’m aware that this has been discussed ad nauseam in other threads, which is leading to my indecision and option paralysis. I have a Barefaced BB2 (8 Ohm). Venues will be the usual smallish to medium pub /club places and ski resort open-air setup, which gives you an idea of the music played (80’s onwards rock and pop stuff for drunken ski bunny dancing etc). I’m therefore looking at GK amps. My only real source of comparison aside from the useful commentary on BC is the GK videos and Thomman.de soundclips. The RB series do sound (very) slightly preferable to the Fusion in my opinion, but I am sceptical as to the validity of these clips for serious comparison. So… Are the RB series worth the extra weight for an amateur like me? I have seen an ex-demo RB1001 which seems like a good deal. The concept then would be keep my micro amp for practice. Should I be going for the larger wattage bearing in mind it’s an 8 Ohm, not 4 Ohm cab i.e MB 800 Fusion or 1001 RB2? I’m happy to pay a bit more and avoid faffing with wanting something different after a year. I’m sensing the answers will tend towards: BB2 loud enough anyway, higher wattage not that noticeable, go for a Fusion 500. and… stop being lazy and get PMT to order both in for trials 😊
12. I'm selling my BH550, should that still be of interest: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/302892-tc-electronics-bh550/page__fromsearch__1
