  1. The aftermarket guard was from a local music shop here in Stroud- not entirely sure it's genuine "Fender" but I liked the look of it. Yes, I wanted that classic sunburst tort look and I think it looks fab. My 78 P is a cool Olympic White that's faded nicely too.
  2. Yes I think you're right. I've edited the date in the advert. Not sure where I got 2008 from!
  3. UPDATE: SOLD 29.01.2024. --- --- --- 1997 Fender USA Standard Precision Bass. This has been my main bass since 2018, and has served me well and been gigged extensively. However, I have upgraded to a lovely vintage 70s bass, so this is sitting around not getting the love and attention it deserves. It's well set up with a set of standard gauge strings (45 - 105) that still have some life left in them. It's got an aftermarket (tort) pickguard, but does come with the original white one. It's got a lovely dark rosewood fretboard which is very smooth under the fingers. Cons: It doesn't have a case, or a gig bag. The original case disintegrated a while after I had it, and I've been using another which I'd like to keep. I have given more details in one of the pics - the information you can access when you put the serial number into Fender's website. Item for sale in Stroud, UK. Local sales preferred. Open to sensible offers.
  4. Very nearly bought this after trying out at BassBros. Have thought about it often since! Great bass. GLWTS.

  8. Yeah - I really do wonder how Fender can justify the CS price tags, when they make basses like this so much more affordable. Granted, I've never owned a CS instrument, but I've played one or two and haven't felt a large difference. Maybe it's just the labour that goes into it with the aforementioned angle grinder... tough work!
  9. It'd sound really nice through something like a Barefaced Super Compact Hope you're doing well mate!
  10. Please removed - part exchanged. Background. I bought this n NYE 2020. I've owned it since then, where I have played it at a few rehearsals and one gig. I'm selling it as I prefer my EB Musicman Stingray. The plan is to replace this and get another EBMM as a back-up to my main bass. There's a video of me playing it down below in the church at Upton Blues Festival. Fretless conversion: Done in summer 2022 by Ash Nightingale guitars in Stroud - (nightingaleguitars.co.uk) The bass: It's lovely. Classic Fender good looks and sounds. Maple neck, rosewood fretboard. Set up with a low action. Serial no. Z8061692 - made in 2008. There are some pictures, and one video (not the best audio though I'm afraid - just a phone) but happy to send more detailed pics of any specific part if anybody would like a closer inspection. Weight: I don't know the weight. I don't own scales but it's certainly not very heavy. Having said that, it's not swamp-ash so it's also not the lightest. Will try and find out, but might be a while. Price: Open to sensible offers. Trades: If you have a 90s or earlier EB MM Stingray with a Flea bridge, bird's eye maple neck in an alluring finish? Or perhaps a Stingray "Classic" with the string-through body I'd be interested to get into a discussion. The case / gig-bag. When I bought it it came in this shoddy looking gig-bag. It's rubbish. It's labelled as "superior" but it's anything but. I wouldn't put my worst enemy's bass in it. However, it's the only one it's got and the price is slightly lower to reflect this. This is also the reason why I am unable to post / courier this bass, unless a buyer wants to volunteer funds for shipping and a case. Location: Stroud, Glos. Buyer to collect over a cuppa. Alternatively, happy to drive to a convenient half-way meeting point for a service station deal. I don't have a battery powered amp though if you want to plug it in. Payment: Cash ideally. If not, bank transfer works too. Thanks for looking, any questions please either reply below or private message me and I'll do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can. Cheers-ta-nice one. Jack
  11. Please remove - part exchanged. Thanks. Guild Starfire I semi-acoustic bass in vintage walnut finish. Bought locally in Gloucestershire just before Christmas. It's nice - just not for me. Nice sounding instrument, lovely fretboard bounds in an equally lovely vintage walnut finish. No gigs done with it - it's practically brand new. Set up to my liking with a set of half-wounds on them. I do have a brand new set of roto sound flats that will come with the bass too if you want them. It's pretty light, probably only a couple of kilos. Soft-gig bag included. Located in Stroud, Glos. Happy for buyer to come down and try it out in a no pressure environment. Not interested in trades, as I already have basses to go back to. Would prefer buyer to collect, or happy to arrange a meeting at a convenient meeting point. Reason I'm selling is after a few months of playing I still keep wandering back to my EB MM Stingray and / or USA Precision bass. Any questions, of if you want any pics / close ups etc please feel free to drop me a line and I'll be happy to help out. Thanks, Jack
  12. Still available - grab yourself something special to put under the tree this year!
  13. Bump. Gigged this last night, and the urge to keep it is now strong... Come at me before I pull it!
  14. Zero to hard-on in 0.483 seconds... a new record I think! Shall be in touch if my jazz bass sells, but I imagine this won't hang around long...
  15. Yes, you don't see them often. When I was at BassBros buying it, I tried a few other maple / maple natural 70s reissues, but imo this one was much better (hence why I bought it!)
  16. UPDATE - PART EX'D. PLEASE REMOVE. THANKS. FOR SALE: USA American Vintage Re-Issue 1975 Fender Jazz Bass, made in 1999. Bought from Will @ BassBros in May of this year. Has done some domestic and abroad gigs with me over the summer. Stunning sounding instrument, lovely rosewood fretboard bound with block inlays in a stunning sunburst. It comes with the ashtray bridge and pickup covers too. Set up to my liking with a set of DR round-wounds on them. It's just short of 5KG. Lovely period-correct case. The only change I made was to add strap-locks. Can leave these on with the strap if you like, or I still have the original ones. Located in Stroud, Glos. Happy for buyer to come down and try it out in a no pressure environment. Not interested in trades, as I already have basses to go back to. Open to sensible offers. Would prefer buyer to collect, or happy to arrange a meeting at a convenient meeting point. Can look into couriering but would be at buyer's risk and cost. Reason I'm selling is after a few months of playing I still keep wandering back to my EB MM Stingray and / or USA Precision bass. Any questions, of if you want any pics / close ups etc please feel free to drop me a line and I'll be happy to help out. Thanks, Jack
  17. Wow. Bump from me. I used to have the SWR 750X, Son of Bertha and Goliath 410. Really amazing stuff. Arguably the best bass sound I've ever had! GLWTS.
