  1. Same. Whack it all up 100% and let the soundie sort it out! Never have a problem hearing myself that's for sure! Obviously there are compromises to be made. If I was doing a jazz kinda gig then the above wouldn't suit, but seeing as when I was doing it, I was mostly playing funk / rock / metal I found everything on full usually did the trick! Plus, to my ears it seemed to be the setting that gave the Stingray it's distinctive sound.
  2. This is my dream bass! I'm only in Stroud too. Alas, it is just not my time. Good luck with the sale, I'm sure it won't hang around long. 😊
  3. Chucking my two cents into the mix... I love my Stingray. I have a 1991 four string in teal green, rosewood board, birdseye maple neck and the bridge with the mutes. Hands down my favourite bass in my small collection - the others being Fender Jazz and Ps. My favourite thing about it is the build quality. The Fenders (All USA models) don't come close. It's incredibly well balanced too. It makes me look like this...

  6. Still available. The markbass rig has gone, but the LM Vintage Head is still for sale.
  7. Hi Leftfret, Yes, still for sale and all in working order. I have sent you a PM. Thanks, Jack
  8. 06/07/22: SOLD. PLEASE REMOVE. FOR SALE: Markbass rig - 600W Little Mark III head - Traveller 102P cab on top - Traveller 115P cab below It's all housed very satisfactorily in a trifibre hard case - so it's in pretty good nick. Case has wheels / castors so can easily move it around. I am selling for what I bought it for in Nov. last year, so not open to offers thank you. It's in Stroud, Glos set up at a rehearsal space. Bring your bass, have a play and I'll make the tea. Reason for selling is we can't fit the whole thing and our PA in our small van. Gutted. Trades? Well, I'd really like to try a Barefaced 4x10... *22/06/22 - Edit - After being asked, I am only selling this as a whole rig / unit and won't split as it's all housed in the custom made case. Please feel free to ask any questions. Also for sale is the LM Vintage Head. Separate ad for that here. Fender precision bass not for sale. Thanks for looking. Jack
  9. Well, it was hard to compare sound as the two naturals had roundwounds, and the sunburst had flats. I very much went with my gut feeling and didn't try and over-think it too much. As soon as I saw it, I preferred the look. Once I sat down to play it, it felt more comfortable and I was able to express myself a little better on it, like I wasn't fighting it. Don't get me wrong, the others were fantastic instruments, but the sunburst just had something the others didn't.
  10. Yes, me too. When I arranged the appointment with Will @ BassBros, I had full intentions of trying and buying one of the two natural 75 RIs he had in stock. There was a '03 and a '06 from memory, both maple and black blocks. When I arrived, this was there too. I tried it third after the two naturals and lo-and-behold this one was the one for me! The flats work excellently for the music I play - blues, americana. What's more, the limitations imposed by the covers... Once you get used to them, they're not so bad to play around. I find my right hand in one of two positions- either between the bridge and neck cover, or thumb on the thumb rest at the neck position. It kinda forces you to play in a certain way. I'm enjoying the challenge!
  11. Absolutely stunning. I've been in love with the idea of the Modulus ever since "Off The Map". Wal and Modulus are both bucket list basses for me. In the best possible sense, hope nobody buys them!
  12. It's in amazing condition - the pics here are after a full setup and clean too, so it's very much in "presentation condition", unlike me...
  13. Thank you Lozz It plays as beautifully as it looks. Productivity working from home has roughly halved...
  14. New bass day! This is a 1975 USA American Vintage Re-Issue, made in 1999. I don't really know too much about the specifications that they used to make basses to in 1975, all I know is that this one feels really, really good! It's got the classic bullet truss rod, three-bolt neck attachment, 70s pickup spacings, and finished in this lovely three tone sunburst with a rosewood neck and mother of pearl block inlays. The best bass I ever played was a mid-70s jazz bass, and this one (whilst not 100% there) gets really close to the magic of the vintage one I played. I bought it Sat, and immediately went and gigged it that night with the original band (The Achievers - R&B, Americana, Blues etc), and then last night with a function band at a wedding. Both excellent experiences! Decent weight, nearly 5KG, so good but not compared to the originals. It's strung with flatwounds too! I know - curious for a jazz... I got this from Will at Bass Bros on Saturday, and the service I received there was excellent - can't recommend them enough. Pics below. Cheers for looking
  15. Morning. Just wanted to drop a +1 review of BassBros on here. I bought a '75 AVRI jazz bass from Will on Saturday and the process couldn't have been better. Great communication throughout the week to arrange the appointment, and when I got there, the basses I had mentioned I was interested in were laid out ready to try through a really nice TC / Vanderklay rig. Will was really kind, warm and accommodating, making cups of tea, having a proper chat about what we loved about jazz basses. I tried three different AVRIs out, two in natural and one in 3TSB, and I left a very happy customer having bought the latter - picture below I immediately went off a gigged it twice through the weekend, and I'm very happy with it! Couldn't recommend BassBros enough to anybody wanting to purchase their next instrument. Nice one Will!
  16. Have a great time! My lot The Achievers just got back from a few shows over in the Netherlands last weekend, and it was fantastic. The Dutch hospitality is amazing. Happy to help if you've got any questions on touring / carnet - shoot me a message and I'll rack my brains!
