1. Something a little special, bordering on bizarre. Who actually buys these ? http://www.ritter-instruments.com/available.php Some are really beautiful, I couldn't imagine actually playing one out though. They really are works of art.
2. Bump. Open to trades too.
3.
Hmm, I've met and dealt with some exceptionally good people on Basschat with just one or two exceptions. I can live with the numpty's because the rest is just sooo good.! I have 2 basses for sale at the moment and sadly I've had an offer on each, one was £65 less than the asking price and the other £55 below. To my mind that is a bit insulting and they were turned down flat. By all means make an offer but make it sensible!
I have to say that, if I make an offer to someone it tends to be low. I'd offer maybe £50 less, expecting them to split the difference and come back at £25 less. Of course I'd hope that they'd accept £50 less .
4. I've sold and bought loads on here. I did have someone off me a few hundred in cash, and a Hohner Steinberger copy in trade for my Jaydee MK bass that I was selling for £1500. His total offer came to about £500, I very kindly said "no thanks" .
5. Traded. Thanks .
6. For sale, a short Comfort strapp that has hardly been used. £20 posted.
7. You've got two beautiful basses there, I love Sei's.
8. I tried an RS210 cab and didn't like it. I found it to be very bright and quite aggressive sounding, though I guess that it may work better with an RH450 which has an upper treble roll off. Have they removed the roll off with the newer RH750 ?
9. Why is Scotland too far ? You'd be amazed how cheap the trains can be. I traded a bass earlier in the year with a guy in Scotland. I don't like posting basses, neither does he. So we agreed that I'd travel up, we split my train fare which was about £80.
10. I tend to email or phone up, just to confirm that the item is actually in stock. I tend to only deal with a certain few places though. Bassdirect are very good, DV247 is also very good, as are Stringsdirect.
11. Bump, photos now added. Have a look at the megathread on Talkbass http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/markbass...ressore-562783/.
12. Just bought Clarky's Markbass cab. It's great, exactly as described. Nice guy to deal with.
13. I got this a week or two a go. It's been used for a few hours and that's all. Complete with all packaging etc. £150 posted. Open to trades too, maybe an EBS Multicomp or perhaps a Rothwell Love Squeeze.
14.
Pay via paypal now, then go collect your new amp! don't pay any extra, he's entered a contract to sell it for that price, if he's not happy with it then unlucky, perhaps he should have set a reserve. if he's an ebay noob then inform him of the rules. It's not his choice whether to sell or not, it's already sold.
It's his item to sell or not to sell. If he doesn't want to, what are you going to do about it ? Pay him by Paypal and he can just refund you. As I say, it' is his amp, not Ebay's.
15. I've never come across someone who's actually bought back a large Mesa or Ampeg with them on a flight. By the time they've paid the excess baggage and the import duty I don't see that they'd be any better off. I doubt they'd convince an airport customs officer that they took it with them. I think this may be a myth. Surely also shops have inventories of the stock including the serial numbers. I really doubt that you'd be able to buy a new USA model, bring it back into the country (avoiding the aforementioned baggage and customs charges). Then buy another the same from a UK shop, and then take the US model back in the place of the UK model.
16. Most amps are universal, they either switch over automatically when they sense a different voltage, or there's a switch on the back. With Markbass you have to take the top off and switch some leads about.
17. Here's a photo of the cab.
18. Bump.
19. Sold.
20. Beautiful Hyperbass there, I'm very jealous . I miss my Zon 6 that I sold on here last year, I'd love to have that back.
21. What's the string spacing, and how wide is the neck at the 12th fret please ?
22. I'd try changing the preamp. Mine's far from subtle sounding, but it's only a couple of years old, so it maybe has a newer preamp in it.
23. It's kind of like learning foreign words but not their meanings.
24. I don't see how you can play without knowing what the notes on the fretboard are. If you go to play with someone, and they give you a chord progression of C/Eb/F/G for example, what do you do ?
25. Personally, if I was trying a new bass, slapping the bejesus out of it would tell me nothing at all about the instrument. I do like slap playing, but never get asked to do it. I really can't remember ever being asked to do a gig, and being asked if I slapped.
