  1. Hi guys, I have real GAS for a SB-2 and wondered what your opinions are on the Tribute series version? Is it worth the £600approx price tag? I appreciate that the value of an instrument is subjective but is this a reasonable price for this bass? What would it cost for a USA version and would there be enough of a difference to make the extra money worth it? Thanks Paddy
  2. Hi Andy The thermistor in a box has worked a treat and I have never had a problem with the amp since. Not bad for 4 years of use. Paddy.
  3. Hi there I'm looking into changing the control layout on my Streamer LX. The volume knob in particular is getting in the way when I play live. So I'd like to take out all 4 knobs (blend, bass, treble & Volume) and reposition the volume control into one of the other holes. 1. Can someone please advise me how to rewire this setup with only volume (with passive pull as existing) without the other controls 2. Can this be combined with a stacked knob to provide pickup blend? 3. What is the best way to cover/close the now 3 redundant holes in the body of the guitar without refinishing the entire body? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you Regards Paddy
  4. Ok nice one, i'll give that a go. Cheers!
  5. Hi At rehearsal last night I got the rare chance to play before the rest of the band arrived. I noticed that while most of my strings sound clear and punchy the bottom C sounded a little woolly and I couldn't manage to get it to have the same punch as the other strings. I tune CGCF on a Warwick Streamer LX - I play with the on board EQ by passed. I try to let my amp (SVT6Pro) do all the EQing. Can someone give me some advise please? I'd like to manage this without the need to put my sansamp infront of the amp. But maybe thats what I need to do? Any advise on EQing will be appreciated. Thank you
  6. Hi Where can I find a 2x25K ohm balance pot & a 500k ohm push/pull volume pot? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paddy
  7. Hi I recently acquired a Spector Euro 4 Lx and would prefer to have a single volume pot with a blend control. When using my warwicks Streamer LX's I tend to run in passive mode and use the eq on my amp. What would I need to do with the spector controls to provide the following controls 1No volume control with active passive pull pot 1No blend control Will the EMG's (not HZ series) run in passive mode or would I be best to change the EQ altogether.....maybe the Aguilar OBP2. I don't need mid control on the spector. I like to keep things simple. I currently play in a metal/hardcore band if that helps with tone controls suggestions. By the way, this spector is easily the best feeling bass I have ever had the pleasure of playing. I'm absolutely blown away by the fit and finish. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Paddy
  8. Hi there I got this bass from hagguy in autumn last year. It is an amazing bass but has spent most of it's time on a hanger in my house. It has been used a couple of times at rehearsal but not gigged. I've included all of the original photos from hagguy's post because the bass is in the same condition as it was when I received it. The chip near the jack socket is so minor it's hardly worth mentioning however it's better to be completely honest. It is in an 9.5 out of 10 condition. DESCRIPTION BODY Alder NECK Hard Maple 3P FINGERBOARD Ebony , 24frets SCALE 34 inch (864mm) NUT (width) Carbon (40mm) INLAY Offset Dot JOINT Neck-thru-body BRIDGE Custom Bass Bridge PICKUPS (Front) ESP Activ Type P(1989~), EMG P(1992~) (Rear) ESP Activ Type J(1989~), EMG J(1992~) CONTROL Front Volume, Rear Volume 2 Band EQ (JETT CIRCUIT H4) These basses are rare, especially in the UK. They were made in Japan which is well known for making the best ESP models - which also happen to be very expensive but they hold their value and some actually gain value over time, compared with the LTD range and even the USA models. I'm mainly interested in 4 string basses but might swap for a 5 string if the right one comes along. In terms of trades I'm mainly interested in Warwick (streamers, thumbs, dolphins), Fender (jazz, PJ), Sandberg (jazz, PJ), ESP (if you have an ESP viper bass especially)Lakland. But I will consider all offers. A bass of lesser value plus a cash adjustment may be accepted. In terms of money this bass is for sale for £700 - a fair price for such a good instrument. PM me with any offers. Thanks Paddy
  9. Thanks for your response. I have adjusted the saddles as far back as they will go and the strings when played are still sharp. Maybe if the action was lowered slightly this would help and a heavier gauge string too. However, if a neck is shorter scale for instance I've heard that there is difficulty when using drop tunings and I assume this was to do with intonation. Cheers Paddy
  10. Hi I have a CMI jazz bass from 1970's which I love. I recently started playing it again after leaving it to sit in a corner for a year. The issue I have come across is that the music I'm currently playing in requires the strings to be tuned CGCF and I cannot get the bass to intonate correctly. I assume this is because it is a shorter scale neck than my Warwicks. Could someone please advise me if a new neck would solve this issue or is there another option available? Thanks Paddy
  11. Hi there My warwick rockbag has come to the end of its life. The padding is falling out and there are rips all over it. It definitely wasn't designed well enough to carry two warwicks. So now I need a new gig bag urgently. I have been looking at Fusion and Mono. I am also trying to decided whether it is worth getting a double bag again (for convenience as I always take two basses) or get two single bags. What are peoples experiences of these two brands? are they worth the asking price....bearing in mind it is £200ish for a Double Mono bag and a single is £130. Any help would be appreciated, thank you Paddy
  12. Hi I made the silly assumption that when I selected passive bypass on my Streamer LX that it was a passive mode. However, after chewing through a couple of batteries over the course of a year or so and looking at a wiring schematic I now realise that the MEC pickups are active and that only the EQ is being bypassed. When playing live I prefer to use my amp's EQ with only the volume being used on the bass so I would prefer passive pickups with an active EQ (for when I do need it) Can someone please point me in the right direction for a good replacement to the active MECs? Is it worth looking at Barts? and could this be done with the existing EQ? Thanks for your help. Paddy
  13. Maplin it is then....Thank very much guys for your help. Paddy
  14. Hi I'm sure this is quite a common topic with Warwicks but can someone suggest the best replacement jack for my two Streamer LX's? Thank you Paddy
  15. bump for a great bass. I've not had the pleasure of playing this particular one but the 2 lx's I have are my favourite basses of all time. Nothing has come close to the balance, playability and looks IMHO Good luck with the sale.
  16. I just traded my FNA Jazzman for Ian's ESP Horizon. Absolutely top bloke, great communication and a pleasure to deal with. Definitely recommend him and would happily deal with him again if the opportunity were to arise. Paddy
