7. What is the power handling of this cab?
8.
Best move I ever made - the most versatile rig that covers every sized gig. Not the cheapest way of doing things I guess, but it does give me the perfect setup for every gig. AND everything fits in the back of a Golf (whilst keeping the two front seats free) - along with 2 basses in Hiscox cases. Check my signature for the link.
That is an awesome setup and one that makes total sense. Great looking cabs as well.
9.
You called? Power handling of cabs is meaningless - you can use any wattage amp with any wattage cabs if you turn it down or reduce LF when it starts farting. As for cabs, I would get 2 x 4x10's because mixing 10's and 15's gives unpredictable results.
Ok so while we're here, what are your opinions on 6x10 cabs?
10. Hi I have had this cab just under a year and it has only been gigged once the rest of the time it has been in a studio with a dust cover over it when not in use. It is in used but almost perfect condition with only one very small nick in the carpet covering. It comes with a Rockbag vinyl cover. It handles 1600 watts and sounds amazing. When i tried this out i bought it because combined with the ampeg it made my insides rumble. I want to change my setup to separate cabs and will consider any offers. I am especially interested in Mesa Eden and Ampeg (american) and SWR. Ideally it will be 4x10x2 or a 4x10 and 1x15 setup. I will consider cash offers. I paid just over £1000 for this cab, bass gallery is selling this cab for £1400 and thomann has it for £1100 so with that in mind i will part with it for £800ono If interested PM me and we can talk through transport etc. Thanks for looking Paddy
11.
I would honestly say Ampeg heads sound best with ampeg cabs, but if you're after something else maybe go for a mesa, i've heard some nice tones from an SVT through a Mesa powerhouse and they're also rated at a higher wattage IIRC. Don't go for epifani with an ampeg though. Not good news.
Thanks for that. Does anyone have any further ideas?
12. Hi I currently run my SVT6Pro into a Warwick 8x10 Neo Pro. I would have liked an ampeg 8x10 when i was buying the amp but the cabs didn't look like they would handle the 1100 watts (apparently) that the svt6 put out. So the warwick was the right choice at the time because of its 1600watts handling. I have started to think about changing my 8x10 to a 4x10 and 1x15 setup for flexibility and ease of transport. Can anyone suggest cabs that would suit running with this head? Cheers Paddy
13. What are the specs on the cabs? Does the 4x10 have a horn?

15. Well guys it worked. I bought an IP rated junction box and 2No. compression IP rated glands (so no beer or whatever can enter the box), a 15A terminal block and a single gang extension lead. I cut the lead quite near the socket end and joined it together again with the terminal block and thermistor in place as shown on the diagram bremen gave us all enclosed within the IP rated box. It worked a treat. Simple, relatively cheap and hopefully will continue to work over time.....i can't see why not. Thanks for all your input. Cheers Paddy
16. ok thanks for that I have bought a single gang bow to house it in. it will have space and nothing will touch it. I chose the plastic over a metal one because of fears that i could make the metal box live if something got lose. I will let you know if it works.
If you read the application note on the website I pointed to earlier, it recommends you use high temperature solder and keep the device well away from plastic components. So I wouldn't mount it inside a plastic extension lead, if that's what you have in mind.
17. Bemen, How hot can i expect this thermistor to get? I have an idea to place the thermistor in an external box or single gang extension plug rather than opening up the amp.
18. Easy when you how lol. I'll try and fit it on sunday before rehearsal. Thanks again. Will post again to let you know how it goes. Cheers
19. Thanks for the info so far. The canford mains inrush protector looks like what i want but i don't wanna spend £70+ on one. I have purchased the thermistor . bremen Can you please send me a schematic for wiring this? Thanks again
20. Thank you. I don not have experience with electronics so won't be able to install that myself. Would a power conditioner help? I know that it only has a 10A breaker. That would trip and i could reset it.....then on powering up again it won't trip the second time. Am i right? I am nervous to have any mods done to the circuitry of the amp unless it is definitely the best solution.
Hi Paddy, Your problem could be high earth leakage - worth getting it checked by an electrician. Or it could just be that on switch on there is a surge which takes the trip out. This can usually be resolved by adding a device to limit the inrush, but it has to be in series with the mains Line connection. Here is a component that will achieve what you want, http://www.rhopointcomponents.com/products.asp?recnumber=10 but you need to know what you are doing to add it safely. The best way is to have it connected inside your amp in the mains input connection. You also need to choose the correct device to match the running current of your amp. Not sure if you can buy a mains adapter with a SurgeGuard in, but it would be worth searching around on the net. The device is basically a resistor which has a high resistance when cold (which limits the inrush current) but as it warms up after switch on its resistance drops to allow the normal running current to flow. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers Martin
21. Hi guys, I've tried to come up with a solution but would like some advice. I am sure there is someone on here that can help. I have an Ampeg SVT6 Pro and on start up at the rehearsal room it trips the MCB. When management reset the MCB and i power up it doesn't trip again. I love my amp and didn't have any issues like this in the shop or my house. I have even started powering up my amp before anything else is turned on.....we even turn off the lights. Can someone suggest a way of preventing this amp from tripping the power? The management are getting pissed off and I am now concerned about using the amp at venues. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you Paddy
22. Westfield 5 string (sold) Squire P-Bass (gave to friend) Schecter SB-1 (sold) Ibanez ATK 300 (sold) CMI Jazz Bass USA Fender Jazz (swapped for Streamer LX) CMI Rickenbacker copy (gave to friend) Ibanez RB750 (sold) Warwick FNA Jazzman Warwick Streamer LX Ones in bold i still have. All of them were great at the time of having them. Each was a step closer to getting my perfect bass.....but none of them have cured my GAS... and as much as I love my Warwicks....i still look forward to having more basses. I have never owned more than 4 basses at any one time.
