3.
lovely instrument. i'm passive myself so if anyone wants the electronics, maybe we could sort a joint offer. also, any idea of the make of M/M pup and any more pics please of complete and back of bass.
Hi, I had trouble uploading pics ..send me your email, and I'd be happy to send extra pics. I'm afraid I really don't know the make of the MM pick up..the front is a bartolini though...... You could just set the EQ flat if you are a 'passive man' :-) Cheers
 4. TRADED. thanks for another sweet, smooth deal Russell.
 5.
I had an Eko B4 fretless acoustic bass some time ago and installed one of these - the K&K floating bridge pickup, which just slots under the bridge (loosen strings and bridge, slide underneath, super simple). Sounded very good at low volumes but the bass itself was very feedback-prone at higher volumes (a common problem with acoustic basses) http://www.jp-guitar...ups_archtop.htm
Hi Clarky..thanks for that..only problem is my bass has a fixed bridge..thanks anyway :-)
Ehrlund pickups are getting a lot of love in the DB world. It's a stick on bug type - should work just as well on an acoustic bass guitar.
Thanks Rev I'll check them out..I have a Scherler Dyn g , t( also a stick on bug type) that i've used on my acoustic g****r..wonder if that would do the trick..?
 6. I own a fabulous acoustic bass made by luthier Nigel Thornbury..and am looking to install a pick up system, to accurately reproduce the lovely upright sound this beastie produces. It has no modern preamp on the side ..but used to have an internal 'bug' type transducer (now broken) wired to the endpin jack. Can anyone recommend a nice pick up system? thanks in advance Raj
 7.
Why a through neck?
They seem to have better sustain.......
 8.
Perhaps you should give us an idea on your budget so we can make some informed suggestions for you.
\Hi 'urb'..I guess up to £600.. ...second hand.
 9.
Commission one from Shuker to your specs?
Money money...
 10.
Well, if the thru-neck wasn't a deal-breaker, these are very nice... http://www.musicrada...z-bass-24-19710
That's great..and no the thru neck is not necessarily a deal breaker..thanks for that.
 11. I had a think ..and decided my near perfect bass would be a J type bass ( because of the lovely slim necks..and back pick up tone) with a thru neck and 24 frets. Does anyone know of such a beast?
 12. thanks..its got all the tones I wanted..but 35" scale..a bit too much for me...
 13. http:// Zoot 5 string fretless. 18v Aguilar preamp, 35" scale. Plays and sounds fantastic. 35" scale is too much for me..and I gonna stick to 4 strings from now on. Asking £650 or trade for 34" scale bass of lesser value...say around £300..with cash my way....maybe a J type fretless ?
 14. I have a luthier built Thornbury acoustic bass..it is mighty..with a calton case (equally mighty)..built by Nigel Thornbury (from Oxford)..would you consider a partial trade with cash your way (obviously)..It is a bowl back...Nigel doesn't build anymore..but this would cost you around £2000 to have one built..its a big instrument with a big sound. I thought I had found a lifetime keeper..until I heard yours. I live in Windsor./..not too far away from Oxford.
 15. That is a real beauty..wish I could afford it...absolutely gorgeous.

The brand "Nuax" is the brand name of luthier Leo Lospennato when he first started making these instruments..he now produces them under his own name..HERE This bass is the very first one produced and is called the "sauron bass", and can be seen on the webpage. I'm not sure how many (if any other) were produced with the 'Nuax' brand name, but they are only built to order and will cost you 2950 Euros...but these Q tuner pick ups are no longer available..and are worth a small fortune by themselves...they are awesome pick ups with a wonder ful transparent tone. Here are the specs Body..flame .eucalyptus top/over mahogany Neck ..Maple F'board...ebony Tuners..Kluson Ellectronics..passive Contols..Vol/Blend/Tone (plus bullit in tuner) Really looking for a sale as I'm wanting to concentrate on 4/5 string...Offers welcome (i don't bite)...and MIGHT consider a trade for a quality 5er. http://http://i817.p...pghttp:// http://http://i817.p...CF9246.jpg http://

Its a lovely but unorthodox bass. The bass was built by luthier Leo Lospennato. It is extremely rare...He now builds these under his own name..rather than his own brand name 'Nuax'. This is the first one produced, and I have the necessary documentation to prove this. This bass and his other cool g*****s can be seen on his website HERE This bass would cost you 2959 euros, and are bulit to order. The bass sounds great..it's passive but the Q tuners negate the need for a preamp..they are brilliant pickups..(no longer available)..and cost hundreds each....if you can find them. I'm switching to 5'ers..so getting rid of my 6's (my Les Evans has already been traded). The bass has an in built tuner. here are the specs.. Body....figured eucalyptus top over mahogany Neck...maple f'board..ebony neck..bolt on pickups...Q tuners Tuners...`kluson Controls....Vol/blend/tone/tuner Looking for a sale really, and open to offers...but might be tempted by a trade for a quality 5er...try me I'm friendly !
