1.
I'll +1 for the MultiComp - It's brilliant. However, I have to say the TC Electronic Nova Dynamics trumps it - and can be bought new, cheaper. I have both and use the TC in my big rig - and throw the Multicomp in my bass bag pocket for jamming, should I need it.
You were glowing about the TC C300 some time ago (I am not stalking you). How does the TC Electronic Nova Dynamics compare?
2. I do realise that this could be a contentious statement, but you could use 1 finger per semitone. It is probably easier to do this if you are kicked off by a teacher who espouses that technique. The thumb placement is key. There can be an element of pivot on the thumb.
3. I would be happy to post to Ireland, but I'm afraid it has gone. Sorry, I should have updated the thread.
4. I still use mine as my hifi amp 26 years after I bought it. Yes, there are better amps, but you have to wander up into multiple £100's. I do not need another, but how much?
5. I have one of these. There is a real issue with pole pieces. It would work with blade magneted jazz pickups (EMG for instance) but the A on a P pick up is significantly louder because it passes over both halves of the pick up. Villex said that they would make me a P with blades in it with one coil shorter than the other so as to get a 3+2 thing going on. Unfprtunately by then I had promised to sell my P and could not go back on the deal. I miss it.
6. I would love to say YES, but the reality is that I just do not know. They are both Boss and the thing is designed for use as an expression pedal so I would presume so, however I just do not know. I have been using it as an expression pedal with my Boss SYB-5 and it has been fine.
7. Bargainous front of house rig for someone.

9. BigJim speaks the truth.
I've just bought a Kala Bass Uke and it's AMAZING!!!!!
10. Pics. Good idea! I will snap some this evening. I am in Bangor, North Wales. It is not heavy so courier would not be exorbitant.
11. I used to own a Chevin like this. Make no mistake, this is a proper power amp for a cheap and nasty price. I used mine to drive an Eden XLT410 and I NEVER wanted for more power or headroom, no matter how noisy things got. I cannot believe this is being offered at this price and is still here. The Chevin and Epi for that little outlay is just bonkers. The Epi is LOL funny when you lift it (been there also) and the Chevin is exceptionally light. Chevin is genuine, bombproof, last forever pro gear. Need it you know you do.
12. Built like a bigger version of an EB vol pedal. Super beefy. Also useable as an expression pedal for Boss stuff (make your SYB 5 gurgle with hapiness) More info here http://www.musiciansbuy.com/Boss_FV500H_He...dal_FV500H.html As new with some velcro on the bottom. £50 posted
13. Double Bass. You can run, but you cannot hide.

15. I would like to pipe up on behalf of Studiospares own brand.

17.
There are no 5ers as far as I know, but the original idea came from a specialist Uke bloke (Road Toad) who is happy to make a 5 with a slightly extended scale for B tension
I went for the fretted. Here is the reply from the Road Toad bloke about a 5er Biggest issue is putting a wide neck on a small body. It can be done as I did it with my hybrid ukulele/bass: http://www.roadtoadmusic.com/Completed/Hyb...EBASS_075H.html 5 string would have a similarly wide neck, but about 50mm at nut and 63mm at 12th fret position. I've done it on solid body, but stretch the scale to 23.5" to get a good workable low B.

19. I did a short review. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=93168
20. I had never heard about these, I read a thread about them, watched some youtube vids and bought one within 18 hours. Solid Mahogany, Piezo pick up and REALLY fat plastic-y strings It is an awful lot of fun but also a serious instrument once plugged in. I play DB regularly and have an NS5 for when I cannot get the DB there. I am considering retiring the NS5, the Ubass sounds just as good for the kind of heavier dull thud gut type of sound I like. I have gigged it twice since taking delivery. one full on Jazz quintet and this morning in Church. It needs fairly careful EQing (just like a DB with a pick up). Obviously everyone thought it was hilarious when I took it out. They stopped laughing when I plugged it in. There is an awful lot of LF going on. The strings are very slightly tacky, you cannot do a triplet ghost note drag down to a lower note in a jazz stylee, but using some natural oil from the side of my nose made things a lot smoother. You cannot do a side to side vibrato. It just does not work. Does it sound like a full-on DB? Obv not. Does it have that sort of DB-esque low-mid, air-shifting heft? Yes. Do I look like someone carrying a Viola when it is in it's case? Yes. You cannot have everything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNPx6RS8PiM
