  1. Good call! I will get onto that later. Ta.
  2. It has already been converted into a 4 string.
  3. One of the guys my wife teaches with has a DB to sell. I used to teach him and it turns out that that his father in law is the brother of the owner of the DB. I was in the County Youth orch with this guy 35 years ago. The bass has not been played for 30 years. It is stamped Boosey and Hawkes Excelsior. It has it's fair share of relicing. There are numerous cracks but these look to have been properly repaired and patched. It is not ply and was clearly a 3 stringer which at leasr gives us a 100 year old + time frame. It is strung with Spiro and plays really nicely. If I did not crave the B I could be more than happy with it. I polished mine with chrome polish and a buffer wheel on a drill and it came up lovely. I reckon this one would as well. They want to sell it, and of course the big question is what do we reckon it is worth? They are not expecting to retire on the proceeds.

    Compressors

I hate compressors. I hate something else futzing around with my dynamics. I love the TC spectracomp. It does enough but not too much. I do realise this makes no sense, but there you go.
  5. It sucks deeply. What is better is that it is avoidable for all now. Not so much when I was growing up.
  6. But with proper protection you can still go to that gig. I have 27 ones and am uncomfortable going to a gig.
  7. I knew cats had to have some use.
  8. Sorry, I was talking about an API Tranzformer. I already have a Hellborg pre. Gotta try them all. The Hellborg does sound very nice indeed through the IP.
  9. I had a chat with Guy at the DB bash before last and he was not too excited at the thought. But that was a few years ago.
  10. An Ebay save search came up with one the right price. It would have been rude not to.
  11. No one answered so I just bought one to see.
  12. Yep, the B3n did not do it. It was purely working as an extra tone which was sitting with the original note in a way which gave it extra grunt/heft/girth/insert your cliche here.
  13. Winning! Thanks.
  14. So many opportunities of making jokes about getting a new child.........
  15. Uh oh...... Ta
  16. I had a zoom MS 60 thing. I did not love it enough to keep it. But there was one octave down effect which I did love. You could set the octave at the same pitch rather than an octave down and it thickened stuff up really nicely. Does the Helix offer this option?
  17. I have a cab I love. It is a Bergantino IP310 and try as I might, nothing else has come close. However, it weighs the same as a small planet. I have been wondering about getting another cab build with the same internal volume but a 3x10 + Horn column rather than the squat box it is now. 1. As long as internal volumes and port sizes are the same it should be much of a muchness? 2. Could anyone recommend anyone to do the actual build? TIA
  18. Your cabs look very attractive.
  19. There is a Thomann one which is all isolated and stuff. https://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_powerplant_iso_2_pro.htm?o=1&search=1552252679 I would welcome an opinion on this. It looks as if it ticks all the boxes.
  20. Go all proper FRFR for less!
  21. We have a couple of Tama stands at work. We have had them for maybe 20 years. They are not in their first flush of youth but are the only ones my students have not managed to break.
  22. That gets tired very quickly. It only stops getting tired when you get paid extra to do it.
  23. Of course, I do not actually need to build a bass and already have too many. However.........
  24. I would LOVE to be able to use this offer. I would LOVE to be able to cnc a bass into shape. If I sent you a neck could you do the bizz and then I could hold it in store for the day I build my next bass. I love the profile on my Korean MTD. Could it be scaled down from 35" scale to 33" scale? So many questions!
