The Platinum Stage and Pro are two different units, the Stage is more compact and lightweight (with a belt/strap clip) whereas the Pro is a floor unit with a nice screen for the inbuilt tuner and footswitches for mute and signal boost. The Stage has all the features you mention so the only difference for you would be the 3 position HPF on the Stage (40hz, 80hz & 160hz) vs the potentiometer on the Pro. They both sound great, I have both and use the Pro live at every gig. The Stage is used at home but I'd have no qualms about using it live if it had a mute and tuner function.

Get the piezo sorted then put tapewounds on it, what buffer preamp do you have in the bass at the moment? Adding a mag pickup is going to make it sound less like an upright IMO. Also pluck the string with the side of your finger, if you want to go the whole hog then have the bass defretted.

Warwick copies are all over AliExpress and now eBay, tbh there's some tempting cheap Corvettes for under £200.

I have the full fat Pro Go Ultimate and also the Pro Go X (which is pretty much the same as their Transit bag), out of the two the Pro Go Ultimate is definitely the superior bag in terms of rigidity, protection and well thought out storage. I liked it so much I bought the guitar version for my headless! I got the Pro Go X for £50 in a clearance sale years ago back when they were only £100 new, tbh I wouldn't pay that new price let alone what they go for now. If I needed a cheaper semi rigid gigbag now I'd probably go for a TGI Extreme which are around £50.

This is why the job of designer and fabricator are two seperate roles. The person who made that has some real skill, unfortunately they have no idea what a guitar is.

As said ditch the typical bronze wound strings, I like nylon tapewound or filament core/bronze wound. Some manufacturers are starting to use carbon coated strings on acoustic basses from the factory.

Yeah definitely, I originally bought it so I had a backup bass that I could carry in a cheap gigbag and leave leaning against a wall, ended up doing entire sets with it at functons. Was just a sweet bass that nailed the Jazz sound, I picked up a tort plate for mine (it was the sunburst finish) but apart from that it was stock. I later had a few Integras and currently have a SInsonido, something about the necks I really like.

Bargain that, I used an STB J as my backup bass for years. Loved the neck profile and bridge pickup on it.

While on the lookout for a cheap headless backup bass I spotted this, seeing as there's been a few chancers pricing these at £500+ recently it's refreshing to see one on sale for a more realistic sum. Not had an EUB in years but I use both the Platinum Pro and Stage preamps with a few piezo equipped acoustics and electric basses. If you don't need all the extra features of the full pedal then the Stage version might be useful and it also has a belt clip if you don't need a floor unit, it has the same sound but with just a 3 band eq (sweepable mids, guitar/bass switch), adjustable boost, phase and a 3 way low cut switch rather than a knob. On the Platinum Pro the brilliance (5kHz) is very useful for cutting string noise while still being to add a bit of treble (3kHz), I miss that on the Stage.

A guitarist I used to play with used to remove the backplate from his pedals, drill corresponding holes in his pedalboard and screw them directly onto it. Personally I want an onboard 3 band preamp where the bass, mid and treble controls are all dual concentric with the bottom knobs being a HPF, mid sweep and LPF respectively. I'd also wanf a compact tuner with mute switch and DI out but after checking it looks like Sonic Nuance and Peterson do make them.

From previous conversations on here there's been different tuners on Sire basses, mine (a pretty early Gen1 V7) had very cheap ones which were ok but a noticeable step down from what I was used to. Other posters had some very nice Grover clones with a grub screw at the bottom. Basically if they look like this with the grub screw at the bottom then there's no need to upgrade other that weight saving (pic courtesy of Bassassain): If they look like this then it's worth rectifying (unfortunately my pic)

I had a Gotoh 404 on my Sire which was much better than the stock bridge and retains through body stringing as an option, you do need to drill extra holes but it's easy enough. For tuners I had Schallers which again need new holes drilling (not visible if you put the stock tuners back on), great tuners but no weight saving. I'd probably get licensed Ultralites if I had another. I also put Nordstrand NJ pickups in mine although the Sire Gen2 pickups (with the Marcus logo) are superb anyway, tbh the oroginal Gen1 ones were great as well but I like Nords and some came up cheap!

Our main mix tablet is a 12.5" WIndows 10 convertible so we can run the full X-Air PC app, for my monitor mix I use an original Surface Go mainly so I can be lazy and have the same interface. Previously I ran it on Atom Bay Trail devices with just 2gb ram and it was fast enough, the PC software will run on just about anything.

We had serious dropout issues using the inbuilt router at a particularly busy studio and just use an external 5ghz router for all occasions now, our XR18 is all prewired in a shallow 3u rack bag so it's plug and play.

Saw that one, assumed it was a home build due to the janky headstock design. Some nice parts on it like.
