  1. Got the mixer in yesterday afternoon. It wasn't supposed to arrive until Wednesday, but sure enough, Gear4Music somehow managed to get it to me less than 36 hours after I bought it online. Tried the Behringer X Air app on android, absolute crap. Tried MX Mix, marginally better. Tried Mixing Station, and now won't be going back to either of the other two apps. Just been able to plug some guitars, a mic and my bass in so far, trying to hash out the input gain levels for our band by using the same gear as will be used by them. So far, a lot easier to use than people seemed to suggest.
  2. I've just put Maccabees on. Good to see them back together. They were one of the first bands I ever saw live in my early teens, and have always been one of my favourites. Was gutted when they split up.
  3. Doherty did an interview not long ago - he's moved to the South of France and, his words, replaced his heroin addiction with a cheese addiction.
  4. He's the sort of bloke who I think would be brilliant to have a pint with but by the time you've stuck around for a third or fourth he'd probably start getting on your nerves. And I mean that in the sincerest, nicest way possible.
  5. Catching up with Inhalers set now. My favourite bass tone of the festival so far - I really need to get a p bass. Edit - he's now pulled out the gold Jack Casady which also sounds fantastic and is making me think maybe it's actually the Ampeg behind him that I want.
  6. Don't call the Script an Indie band. They're CD-player-in-middle-aged-womans-car-music at best.
  7. That's nothing, Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro got through half a dozen strats and a 335 yesterday.
  8. My dad was a massive Gary Numan fan back in the day. He's text me to say "are you watching Glastonbury Festival H? Gary Numan one of my favourites he don't half look strange now"
  9. In fairness, he's doing a lot better than some of the dinosaurs still trying to play these sorts of shows over the past few years. That GnR set from a couple of years ago still makes me cringe just thinking about it - such was the "quality" of Axl Rose's "singing".
  10. Same band that also openly praise Hamas and Hezbollah at their gigs, and tell their audiences things like "the only good Tory is a dead Tory, kill your local MP". Only to then be called out on it in light of things like the murders of Jo Cox and David Amess, and issue a half arsed apology that just screams "we're not sorry for what we did, only sorry we got caught". No, I'm not a fan. They seem like they all need a slap.
  11. Fiscal irresponsibility means I need to balance my finances, so I'll take £120 if someone comes and picks the guitar up within the next week.
  12. There are a couple of basses I have my eye on so make me a lowball offer and I might just accept.
  13. I haven't watched the English Teacher set but if the consensus from people who have seen it is anything to go by, I think it'll be the first thing I put on when I'm back home later today. Also going to try and find the Fratellis and Ash sets from yesterday if I can. Very much looking forward to watching Maccabees tomorrow night too.
  14. As a show of hands from the people complaining, is your taste in music: A: purely music over 30 years old and firmly placed in the classic rock camp (IE- Guns n Roses, AC/DC, any of a number of other bands still touring but sounding like shite because they're clearly too old to still be doing it) Or B: never been particularly popular, like some of this assemblage-of-words-and-throw-"core"-on-the-end that only real nerds of the genre have heard of (looking at you, "post-folkcore").
  15. There's been some good acts on today - Supergrass, Franz Ferdinand, Alanis Morisette, Biffy Clyro and now 1975 and Fratellis. I get it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they are mine, and these are all bands/artists that are either currently popular or have been at some point in the past 30 years.
  16. I've gone ahead and whacked it on Klarna. Couldn't resist. Can anyone recommend which (preferably free) apps they use?
  17. I'm incredibly tempted by an XR18 to replace our ageing and slowly dying Xenyx mixer. I think the XR18 will solve a lot of needs - we're planning on going over to IEMs to reduce the volume of gear (both in terms of noise volume and physical volume), and I was looking at getting an 8-channel interface and an adat extension to do recordings with anyway. It looks like it'll do everything I want/need. Someone talk me into/out of buying it.
  18. Musically, pretty solid. What worries me is my bandmates gear - or lack thereof. Our guitarist especially isn't equipped to gig, his pedals are just "every knob turned all the way up" and in a bizarre order, and powered by a daisy chain that feeds back terrible. We run silent stage with in ears and it means he blows out our ears when he stomps on his distortion, the whirring hum sound of it is unbearable. The drummer has 2 cracked cymbals and given how hard he hits them I am worried that the rip he has in one will get bigger and bigger until a shard of metal comes loose and flies at my head. And none of them own their own mic, then complain that the house mics at the rehearsal room aren't the best. Easy solution to that problem folks!
  19. Selling off my Jet Tele-style guitar. As far as I know, this is completely stock. These come from the factory with Alnico V pickups, through body stringing and locking tuners - all upgrades over the stock JT-300. One small but somewhat insignificant defect with it is that the control plate doesn't quite line up with the routing underneath, creating a small gap which is about half a millimetre wide. I personally didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me. Otherwise this is a fantastic guitar, with a really comfortable roasted maple neck and good sounding pickups, and I have happily gifted it two or three times. Only selling as I am no longer playing guitar in this band, and have half a dozen other guitars (including some other Telecasters), and want to cut down on gear before an upcoming house move. Collection only from Birmingham/Solihull (Near Brum airport) or can meet nearby. Would entertain trades involving a P-style Bass coming my way, and some cash going either way. It's on Reverb for £165 but for folk of this parish I will say £150. Any questions, please drop me a message Pictures are here: https://imgur.com/a/jet-jt-350-fs-e1o8R9Y
  20. "we are a guitar factory in China" Authentic? No. Scam? Also no. Just don't expect high quality with it.
  21. As promised, here's a little picture and write up of the Chinese Amazon special in the Bronco. As I said previously, it fits in the stock pickguard and the mounting screw holes line up perfectly. The pole pieces almost line up perfectly, at most the strings are 1mm misaligned from the very middle of each pole piece. Also feels like a well made unit, cloth pushback wire and enough potting wax to keep a Yankee candle aflame for a few days. Really quite impressed with it. Sounds a lot more balanced than the stock pickup, and is a lot quieter in regards to background hum. Also sounds like there's more low end in it than stock, almost as if it's a bass pickup and not a cheap guitar pickup. Does sound similar-ish to a 51 P Bass style sound albeit with the thump of a short scale. Keen to try it out in a band mix at rehearsals tomorrow night. All in all, I'd highly recommend it. Absolute bargain if you own a Bronco and don't want to put the normal cheapo hot rail in but don't also want to spunk £60-100 for a Toltec or McNelly or something. Link to it is here if anyone is interested: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B06XQVZG72?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
  22. I had 15 minutes between Teams meetings so I've put the new £15 Chinese special pickup into the bronco. Still yet to adjust pickup height or anything yet but happy to report it slot right into place with no adjustment to the pickguard or the screw holes. Strings line up almost perfectly with the middle of each pole pieces too. Nice and easy job. Will update with pictures and a write up later when I get chance to have a proper go but early signs are positive. Fingers crossed it can be a solid, recommendable upgrade (that isn't a hot rail or an expensive McNelly) for anyone with a Bronco.
  23. A Gen 1 Sire M2 and one of the new Squier Sonic Broncos.
  24. I have a rehearsal in a couple of days and a gig next weekend. Needed to move quickly. I did see a few bits of Trace gear nearby (the one you linked is about 3.5hrs away so could be in China for all it's worth), but a lot of it I think wouldn't meet the "can be shifted by me alone" criteria. That said, I'll keep an eye out in the future.
