Yeah the older ones do, the new ones with racing stripes don’t which I think is a real missed opportunity, in fact Fender not putting them on all Mustangs is a missed opportunity.

It will have had a cover held in place by the screw you see. Most are missing this cover, I’ve kept a watchful eye in ebay but never seen one come up as a spare part.

They are the same across all kay basses made in this era

For an all in one you might want to give the Aguilar Tonehammer a look.

Just don’t think of it as a 2 channel preamp, it’s a preamp with 2 different sounds that you switch with a footswitch. Therefore the hugely different volumes, tone, eq centres etc don’t bother you so much you just like the option.

Also it’ll run on batteries and phantom

Like new Zoom MS70CDR. I have plugged it into a computer and swapped a few fx over (so it’s got the bass octaver on, synths etc) you can do a factory restore or do the same, as the software is open source and online for free.

Not a lot else to say, fully functional, great misc effects pedal that takes up the space of a single pedal on your board and can be anything you need.

Just use the connections on the back, set the gain accordingly

Try backing the volume off one of the pickups ever so slightly, this has been my go to Ric tone for years as they essentially shunt each other.

Might help with the hum, but I’ve never had that problem with fuzz’s and the ric. Else a softly gated fuzz might help or switch to a muff emulation in something like a Zoom MS60B or Helix

So my understanding with the Spark, Mojomojo and Dark Matter is they are all the same pedal with different ranges on the gain knob.

Given my experience I GREATLY prefer the mojomojo to the Spark.

But essentially it’s something like if the spark is at 3 o clock, the mojo is at 12 o clock and the dark matter is at 9 o clock.

Tonally the Mojo had more colour/warmth for me, I found the Spark quite flat. The mojo around 9/10 o clock was just golden for me.

Capo was the best I had in this area, else I’ll soon be getting an old Tone Factor Cream Pie back which was my fav many many years ago but what I’ve found is many many years ago I was dumber.

Another thing I’ve found that works quite well is GE based fuzz pedals with the gain all the way off, this gives me a far more vintage and wooly sound than all the overdrive pedals I’ve tried in the past.

Did you know the MXR Distortion + is a GE based version of the Dod 250 🤷‍♂️, I have an old Tone Factor Huckleberry for this which is a hybrid and sounds great. Muffs don’t work (but they’re also not GE based)

I also have a Jive which I’ve not been able to try yet.

The online demos the RC boost sounds better to me than the BB Boost.

Everything except the Capo I really felt the pedal in the tone, whereas the Capo elevated it. Generally though I’m trying to avoid anything with eq, it’s too heavy on the sound, coloured boosts I like but seem to subtle for me to keep and I just go round this endless cycle that ends with me going bass into a nice DI (of which I also have too many)

Then finally, almost all my basses have flats on them and have for years, this coincides with my slow tapering interest in pedals because basically flats make pedals suck. All that high end content that makes things really sound different disappears.

This is going to make me sound like an asshat but I already know without playing this pedal it won’t be a keeper, because nothing is a keeper for me anymore.

I have a jam on the 4th December where I want to use it and then it can go like so many other pedals before it have.

I bought this as a spares and repair, reality is it works perfectly but there seems to be a common issue on EBS Microbass 3’s where you need a cable in the fx loop otherwise you have issues.

For ages I couldn’t find this fault but it only affected the XLR out. Anyway one just sold on this forum highlighting this as a common issue.

So I got a bargain, you can have a bargain but read the original post.

Comes with box and the patch lead to solve the fx loop issue, no power supply but it’s standard 9v

Great condition, barely a mark on it. But really this is a seriously light plywood bass made in Taiwan in the 60s, I bought it as a quirky studio instrument and it’s currently wearing a set of D’addario Tapes

I have a Fleabass gigbag that fits this very snuggly and is about as small of a backup bass you can then get.

All electronics are working and the pickup isn’t microphonic as much as I can tell

No crackles or issues

Cosmetically is what it is but no major dings and no chunks missing from the rather chunky neck.

I must stress this is a fun and cool studio instrument, don’t be like the guy who bought my 1970s Eko and complained that he couldn’t get the action low like a Fodera.

Action is relatively low but it’s a 30 inch scale bass with tapes so the strings really move, but no buzzes or rattle. Dig in enough you might hit the pickup.

The only ding at the rear strap pin where some paint has come away, was only visible when I swapped them out for Straplocks that will be included in the sale

Setup a few days ago for the rounds it current wears, everything works perfectly and it was apparently upgraded with a Klingon Loom before I bought it, which was checked over the other day.

Both cases are guitar versions and fit this and all mustangs snuggly and I’ve travelled all over the world with both (Edge was in a SKB Bass Safe)

I’m flying back from Istanbul with the bass at the end of the month so can either meet someone in London on the 30th November or anytime after that in the Manchester area. Bass will not include a gigbag but the above options are available at additional cost.

I think you’ll be quite happy with it, it’s a great sounding preamp, I really like the compression on it but it’s subtle and smooth (more limiting than an effect), the drive is nice, the eq really musical, tuner tunes.

It think it’s quite hard to use both channels for 2 different basses as the eq options are so different but stacked you’ve got limitless tonal options.

Just a really handy swiss army knife.

An alternative if you don’t get on with it is the Fishman Platinum Pro EQ, that has compression, DI, Tuner, EQ and is a really really nice and transparent sounding pedal.

For a more rocky sound the Sonicake Boom Ave is heavily underrated.

I love these all in ones I just wish more powered from battery or phantom, the more I can do where it’s grab n go n throw on the floor to play the better.

I have one of these along with 2 Groove Tube Ditto’s and a Summit TD-100. They are great value for the money. Often I’ve run the Groove Tubes into it so that I can convert the XLR out to a 1/4 inch jack.

Either way they are very handy to add a further tube stage to your signal.

The Summit TD-100 primarily due to the impedance control is the one that in recent memory made me go wow.

The Groove Tubes does appear on my favourite recordings of myself. I’m hoping to get into a studio in December and do a shootout.

I did one last year with a Acme Motown, Countryman Type 10, Neve and Radial Stagebug.

The results were surprising as I found the Neve “boring” and the Radial very very close in sound to the Motown (this has been confirmed to several other players I’ve sent it on to)

However once you start turning on those studio EQs and compressors all the differences easily disappear.

Countryman has been my go to for years, Stagebug is my travel DI and then trying to figure out which Tube DI is the main one for studio work.

I also picked up a Radial Dragster to stick in front of the Groove Tubes and see if I can get everything I love out of the Summit with everything I love out of the GT.

Summit does fit in a gigbag though.

Works fine straight into GarageBand, thats how I record.

You do have to go into the app settings for the monitoring to get it right.

Surprising the mustang doesn’t have the lollipop tuners, getting closer and closer to my ideal bass.
