The deco feels like the perfect ‘The Cure’ pedal!
That’ll be my evening playing Cure songs and then it’ll never get sold 🙄-

I love the look of those Boss boards. Such a good design and in a world of Schmidt Arrays it's just good simple engineering.
Are you using the deco as a chorus/flanger or as a drive?
Mainly as the doubling, so maybe lightly into flange territory. I’m thinking I’m probably going to sell it and try the El Capistan or the Chroma Console. But I’ve never heard a modulation pedal as capable as the subtle doubling/thickening this does.
Almost a faux stereo space, just adds a bit of air.
The subtly would be wholly lost live but this board is all about subtle variations on a theme to keep playing along to tracks interesting.

… use Dual Lock as the adhesive is acrylic based, not alien space snot that is on all Velcro. Dual Lock is made by reasonable people who know our pain of Velcro!
Yes but the blisters pulling it off 😅
I've got dual lock ready to go on to it, but this board has had 27 configurations this week alone and I’m still not convinced by the Capo and Deco.

Is there really much of a difference between mk1 and mk2?
I sold my original, missed it, picked up a mk2 again after a gap, so never got to A/B them.I have no idea but I always heard the mk2 didn’t have the baked in bass boost of the MK1
I categorically can not get the V to sound identical to the mk1, they’re close, similar ballpark, definitely based on the same topology but can’t get them identical.
That said as long as I don’t turn the mk1 on the V is great, just the mk1 is easier to get the sound I love out of it.
Got a few more low gain drives to work through anyway. They’ll probably all stay as it’s all far more fun than octaves, filters and other wacky stuff.

Well I bought the Diamond Compressor 😅
The mk1 is totally a keeper but I’d love to try the mk2 and the ge version.
Also got a DCX incoming so something sooner or later will emerge as a clear winner.

After a mare of a practice where the kemper wasn’t happy wanted to not rely on with the midi side of things
so I’m switching from the kemper controller to the Morningstar mc6 and I’ll run the midi out to switch a few things on the kemper in time
obviously it will work well with the ML10x under the hood
the sl20 was a pog 2 but it’s poorly pattern trem after fuzz sounds cool
If it helps, this looks much better without the Kemper controller on it 😇

Still really conflicted on this pedal.
Firstly stacked with the MK1 into it, it’s awesome but I’m finding the MK1 is the most amp like (in feel and how it reacts) pedal I own. It’s basically a dirty compressor for me currently
The MkV will go more or less completely clean so I’ve definitely got the one most suited to what I want to do.
The problem is probably more it’s sat on a board with a Punchline, Capo and the MK1. The Mk1 just has some real mojo I’m loving and the Punchline and Capo are easier to dial in the eq than the MkV.
So who knows, it’s for sale and trade at the moment but only for the right deal, I could see this happily sitting on a small board/pedal riser ala @Chadu25 😅
The Diamond comp is really tempting for said small board

Just checking you all know this is a Sansamp clone right? Not that that matters, just think it’s useful information if you’re ever shopping around for something similar.

.I don't have mine to hand, but I believe you can simply control the external music volume on the playback device itself. No need for a mixer in the Katana Go.
Correct just turn your phone, tablet or computer up and down to suit. The volume of the device on the nux and boss will increase the instrument and device but then you just nudge it down on the device as well.
Its worth noting that the NUX Pro has quite a heavy bass boost on Bluetooth audio going into the device.
The new Boss Katana Go is exactly the same as the old one except the volume knob was removed after fender bought all the stock for their Mustang thing. So boss had to redesign and now it has some buttons or a dial on the side. But the rest of the device is the same and both versions are supported and work with the app.
I feel I’ve done exceptionally well here selling anyone reading on my NUX MP3 for sale 😇

Shameless plug
Personally the Boss Katana Go is better than either. The MP2 sounds better than the Pro to me but the volume control only being in the app made me get the Pro.
The pro slowly removed any joy out of playing bass, it doesn’t sound bad, like not that you go oh I hate this, but you find you don’t enjoy playing much with it took me a few months to realise what the problem was. I didn’t have this with the MP2 but as above and even though I’m selling one, Boss Katana Go is much better and the Darkglass Element is better still but faffier to just noodle when you feel like it.

So after a night of messing around it’s likely going to end up as this. But I need to play around with it all a lot more before I commit anything to velcro.
I figure the zvex and kasleder can just be fun pedals I stick in front of the board running batteries as and when I feel like it.

I’ve always struggled with a decent distorted tone when using my active basses, I’ve got a Spector rebop 5 string and an Ibanez SR2600, and they both sound like they’re being water boarded when I step on my boss ODB-3. My Ibanez can switch between passive and active and sounds great in passive. I’ve read threads on hear about impedance issues and radial dragsters being the fix, problem is they seem to be discontinued so my question is does anyone have an alternative solution? Do I need to change pedals? Is there an alternative to the dragster? Does anyone have one to sell?
cheers
Unlikely to help, I had one, can’t remember what I did with it but it didn’t help. In active mode just try rolling the volume back and see if that helps.
This is how you’ll know if it’s an impedance issue or you’re hitting the pedal with too hot of a signal. It’s more likely the latter as Boss are buffered pedals so the input impedance isn’t as important as if it was a vintage fuzz.

Great little headphone amp, just redundant for me as I have a Boss Katana Go and 2 Darkglass Elements and a Camden EC1 and and and.

A Series of Utterly Pointless Pedal Demos

Comparison of various Octavers
An early Cog T-16
Sonicake Octaver
MXR Bass Octaver Deluxe
Pearl OC07
Zoom MS60b Bass Octaver
Zoom MS60b+ Analog Bass Octaver
My thoughts.
For those that don’t know the Pearl OC07 is the original Jojo Mayer Nerve octaver. It sounds identical (as these old pedals can) to a Boss OC2. The Sonicake Octaver is an OC2 clone. When I compared it to an OC2 I couldn’t hear the difference and once again here, not trying to destroy the resale of my pedals I can’t hear it either.
The Cog is quite unique sounding compared to everything else and has to be felt to be believed.
The MXR is the most versatile but the so are both of the Zooms. It has some noise when idling but doesn’t appear to come across in the videos (at least until I add layers and layers of gain)
Once you put these in a synth chain most of the differences disappear.
I’ll be keeping the Sonicake (because they are so cheap they aren’t worth selling), probably the MXR as I find it the most musical and varied and then both Zooms because the MS60b isn’t worth very much and the MS60b+ is really really impressive.
If I was playing a lot of synth focused music, I’d keep the Cog and have it next to a Sonicake or MXR Vintage Bass Octaver and then the MXR BOD if I was doing any blended with clean stuff.
Anyway, enjoy
