  1. The white is a status neck, it’s camera flash but the maple one is actually gold but I did a white underneath the gold so as it relics, the white shows and I also seasoned and stained the wood of the whole body so that whenever that shows it looks old and not bright bare wood as it started out Here are the steps (there were multiple coats and stains relic process etc)
  2. Most of my stuff will be difficult to get rid of - I made them with specific sonic goals in mind, in my mind, which will in all honesty not suit most people - the shells/parts of course can be put to other uses, those not too routed and battered by me. What it does is give you an appreciation of cost and Labour, but also marvel at both top an bottom ends about what stuff does, what makes a difference etc. Would I pop my stuff against anything bitsa or self made (to a degree not done necks yet) absolutely sound wise - fit and finish would be lacking compared to proper luthiers. I would sell the self made ones last if I had to offload whatever I had, not just for sentiment. Long answer basically no plans, but doesn’t mean they may not leave!
  3. Scot myself, my uncle speaks Gaelic so I should ask him!
  4. Bien sur
  5. You may be surprised to hear I have 2 pairs and 2 tee shirts and the cook book, not that I like Sandberg or anything...... good info on the distribution
  6. If so - here may be of interest https://sandbergshop.gambiocloud.com
  7. Do you want to stick with a Sandberg bridge?
  8. Ill fated attempt before getting a proper router. Idea was for a hidden woofer type pick up under the pickguard to give a constant rumble with its own control Didnt quite work for various reasons - may be revisited
  9. Haha! those are 3 I built form parts - goldie I finished and relic’d myself. These 2 I carved the body and finished from scratch but added aftermarket necks proportion size next to DK Orange has a Seymour Duncan Custom shop hot stack P - so essentially it’s the fender dusty hill with a correct orientation neck at a fraction of the cost and a tonestyler 10. The 2 jazz weird one was fun in designing a different shape it has curves all over the show. I must add-none are flawless, but the quirks add to them! The Jazzenbacker-well I like a Rick, can’t afford one, spotted the highway one body super cheap at about £120, spotted the Rick pick ups really really cheap, and thought why not?! The Tonestyler again I got lucky on price and fitted it together-I just like learning about different concepts-some I keep, some I shift in for cost of parts. I attempt the odd repair as well on old cracked bodies, or refins Also the DK is the perfect jazz so didn’t need another!
  10. The switch does Neck, Bridge, both series, both parallel if I remember right. Stellartone Tonestylers are awesome bits of kit
  11. Would be my pleasure This is it next to a couple others I made/bitsa’d together It has a status P neck which I didn’t quite get on with. here is the body alone Plan is to either go for a maple with blocks like your classic Geddy - or I may actually get a status jazz neck, which I love, with no markings or logo and go completely stealth - it has a lovely tone to it. The body is a Fender Highway One I picked up second hand for a great price - so very well made
  12. Knew my man would come through - you are a legend
  13. That I dunno - be worth giving Sandberg a shout - I always thought the neck pick up was a split coil and not single? Another very left field - I routed a jazz bass to accept Seymour Duncan Rickenbacker pick ups into and it’s a very good sounding guitar, not like a Rick, but a nod to it for sure, I used a Duo 6 Tonestyler as well. The neck pick up is used to being closer to the neck so I had to use a Schaller 3D bridge to narrow the strong spacing and it works. You could get 2 bridge pick ups, or see if they do the Al Cisneros ones separate as they are in a different place and should be fine for the magnetic fields.
  14. Smell good yes - cos you borrowed my poncey preening backs kit! I used to bring a shower gel just the front rows in my team most weeks so they didn’t steal my towel and use it before I had the chance to! Played a Kiesel guitar - lovely piece of kit, of the bass is half as good Hades awaits
  15. Mild dislike only - you front row’s are so easily moulded it’s great fun, but no worries if you were like the front rows I played with, I’ll let you borrow my toiletries and cologne after the game. I specc’d a bass - had to walk away and forget about it till now
  16. I feel for you - I have played 1-15 but the front row is attrition of a whole new kind - I settled on Centre to preserve my face for radio - so many joints are in trouble now.....
  17. Pleasure - as ex rugby as well - it’s good to have a different focus. Status is way expensive and that Shuker looked really really nice, for me the only status I would entertain is the Stealth being all graphite, also being too expensive for me it prevents me buying something! Hope the job settles
  18. Yeah I knew that with those pick ups - be interesting if you can get decent surrounds off the shelf, or maybe get a couple covers 3D printed?! Haussels are used in Sandy’s a bit, the web site is basic, but the pick ups are of very high quality. There is not a lot out there on them but there is this in a marzipan bass
  19. Duke was up there for me too, Kramer’s have that great old skool feel - Upgraded the Hohner to the EMG’s but kept it passive - and it’s great for lugging around, picking up easily. Kiesel do some really nice options for a headless, but if I was going to indulge - it would be a status Stealth headless all the way with LED’s of course
  20. BX-1’s are great - was on my list but I settled for a Hohner B2ADB
  21. Crikey - if slapping is blowing a speaker it must be being done with the might of Thor’s hammer with a super hot chain. I have massive clumsy thumbs and never been close!
  22. Oh yes Creamery are the most fabulous pick ups
  23. If possible I would keep casings for the routs be they silver or black as it keeps the same looks but you can have any pick up config you like. Why not T-bird type pick ups - lollar ones are awesome or Haüssel do a triple bucker which fits in an MM rout. I have always fancied Ulyate Tic Tac pick up range as well, or Joe Barden ones - loads of options
  24. Semaj Forp - I knew it was you - little tinker As for price variations - anyone’s guess - likely folklore gets perpetuated and it gathers moss. For example, nowt against a JV Squier ‘83 - love em - but they are good because all else from Fender was so bad - some have holy grail prices
  25. So do I qualify for a Masters now? A 3rd agreement and surely it’s a PHD and maybe a professorial chair like yourself?!
