  1. @Al Krow cheers for the reply! So following on from what you say, playing a semi tone out or out of time is not tone related, that’s a tight band and timing. The overall tone of the band is important, and part of that is bass tone, so in my simple mind therefore great bass tone does matter. Now whether you make it the most, least or middle important tone is then discretionary, and will be a variation from song to song within genres. A song where the bass is the song, massively important etc.
  2. @Al Krow thanks for posting this, its interesting to see different viewpoints, and as you took my original quote to start the thread (I don't mind!) then people will know where is stand on it. Couple of things, to pick up on a comment someone said about spending hours obsessing about nuances on tone, I think its absolutely needed, as this obsession provides the right glue for the band, the last 10-20% or whatever percentage you want to give it, will be how it is mixed in front of house, to allow the tone to come forward. I also agree fully with tone for genre but also tone for what instruments that are also being played alongside with. @Al Krow a question back as the OP. Do you think the audience also do not care about the tone of any other instrument in the band? I think we can all agree that a decent/very good singer or front person with charisma can really lift any band, BUT considering you have placed yourself seemingly at the bottom of the importance chart, do you think people give a stuff about the tone of any other instruments, and what is your hierarchy of importance? I am talking across the board here, brass, woodwind, keys, guitar, drums etc. Also do any of these individual instruments matter, or is it a band collective tone?
  3. I would have loved a bongo, but too many dials for me, maybe thats why I needed up with a silver, I have not yet evolved, but I like the black too
  4. Stealth with the appropriate bit of sparkle, I do like a cloth grill. Supertwins are the business
  5. So what have you done in the end? Dod you get a refund?
  6. @Jenny_Innie OK, without getting into which is better, not all Ashdown products are made in the UK, do we still call it as UK flagship manufacturer? Where do Hiwatt, Laney, Marshall sit then? Aside from being the naval vessel carrying the admiral in a fleet flagship is normally reserved for the best product (or in this insert company) owned by an institution. Unless all the companies are owned by the UK I suppose then we cannot call any of them flagship, not even Ashdown. Sound fair? Would it have been better if I had just said a bloody good cab maker as a definition instead? isnt Bass stuff niche and boutique anyway, but some stuff is maybe über niche? Sure, we can carry on now with something that wasn’t put out there as a comparator
  7. How many watts can the car speakers take clean or distorted? Now if Alex can get his Cabs to fly.....
  8. Hope they don't take any flack, they have been informative and played with a straight bat. I think that's all we can ask for, as well as good customer service
  9. You wouldn’t let it lie......
  10. That’s 3 tines this thread - think the Mods May shut us down......
  11. To all interested. i will post below what is from the Barefaced Facebook page. Looks like Brexit and how the world is getting more expensive etc. Is hitting our flagship UK manufacturer. I for one am very glad I have one, and plenty others are too. Let’s hope this thread doesn’t derail into which cab is best, you should have bought cab X, I had one and it sucked etc. It’s just for information........BUT if you were considering one, get one before March!!! @alexclaber hope you don’t mind me sharing. here is the official link here is the post content for those without FB: Good news and bad news - the bad news first: Our prices are going up. The good news: We're not going to change them until the 1st March. We'd rather not do this but making cabs with this level of performance and providing the service we do is expensive - every component we use is the best possible and we lavish serious time, care and attention during manufacture to achieve this handmade quality. If you buy a Barefaced cab you're buying cutting edge performance, outstanding tone and the highest quality bass cab - not just built to last but built to still have outstanding sonic performance in many years' time. How much will they increase by? We're not exactly sure yet, we're going through some deep analysis of our costs to work out what we have to do - but it'll be a fairly significant increase. We're sorry we're having to do this but quality this good doesn't come cheap - and if Barefaced is going to be around in many years time, still building amazing cabs and still providing great customer support, we have to be sensible about what we charge for them. We still believe that if you invest in some Barefaced cabs you'll sound better and usually end up financially better off in many years time - get the best and that's it, no more spending on bass cabs! And your awesome tone might book you some more gigs. ;-)
  12. Good choice love mine
  13. Ok, point taken Ricky....😂 Meant to say a UK company up in Yorkshire, my bad. The rest still applies though 👍🏾
  14. They are great, well padded, generous compartments, decent shower repellence, look really smart. Defonitely a premium product, made in the Uk with great customer service. i also have one of their DJ bags that I use for cables and stuff etc.
  15. Mate it’s the beans, go for it! bad photo, but well designed and easy to wear, compartments open opposite ways
  16. Fusion double gig bag is bombproof and manageable fully recommend it
  17. @Frank Blank you’ll only know if you play it! If you can get a refund, I would get a refund, use the Chowny on order, or whatever else you have to see if it works. if it doesn’t, then get an aerodyne either new or second hand, or something else nothing lost!
  18. Agree with @dannybuoy, unplayed inside a week you should get a full refund
  19. That will be my typo - sorry chaps, but now rectified. All I can say is that I have managed to dial in a very pleasing sound for my needs, I really like it. The other benefit is that it is a 14 day no quibble full refund as long as you keep the pedal pristine, plenty time to decide if you like it! This is how I have set it up, excuse the clown pants, the flow goes right to left.
  20. Look at Hauessel as well, very fine pick ups Joe Barden pick up Ulyate Tic Tac new range
  21. Nicely put, there is no right or wrong, just right for you
  22. @Al Krow you are on form today!😂
  23. Ha i was being humble, but now you put it that way..... nah it’s a win win for both of us. if it does really float my boat, then I may go custom like we talked about, Burt that is years away!
  24. @Wolverinebass braggart.......
  25. It’s the Korean Model. Lastbtime I saw one for sale was about 18 months ago on eBay, I nearly went for it but didn’t last minute, didn’t have the funds. this one feels awesome, the neck profile is so flat you don’t mind the width and it’s a joy to play. A lot of people consider swapping electronics etc but I will see currently plays well with my pedals
