Of course all music is totally subjective but what I've heard of Jaco Pastorius has been a total let down compared to what I've heard other people say about him* Granted, I've only heard some of the most well known tracks and to me it was just disjointed... It sounded like I'd just walked into any guitar shop in the world... Aimless noodling... Anyone got any suggestions that may change my mind?

I do at home and when jamming with people, but in bands I've generally just used one or two drives/distortion for a bit of growl. Except my first band where I used a delay on one section and a wah on another.

" I plan one the bad creating a youtube channel so we can create cover video untill we have a fan base, and then the next step is getting signed!" Bish bash bosh, simple as that !

Hi! Looking to get back into playing live, last time I was in a regular gigging band playing weekly around London/South England was early 2013 but I probably practice more now than I did then! Current gear is in my sig. I enjoy playing music ranging across rock, electronic, hip-hop but I'm flexible and enjoy playing and listening to most styles and like experimentation. People around my age (22) would be good but this isn't a requirement. Feel free to PM me for more information (or email if you're not a member: "]) Cheers!

Ok so since being on here I've seen 'gas' used a lot when talking about wanting new gear etc, I get what it means and what context it makes sense it, but where does the word come from? Is it an acronym haha? Cheers

Best/favourite strings for StingRay (4-string)?
AinsleyWalker replied to AinsleyWalker's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks for all the suggestions, I took the Ray to get set-up (hadn't been done in the 5 years I've owned it and the action was getting a bit off..) and just ended up getting some standard D'Addarios from the shop, next time I'll try out one of the suggestions here for sure though! -
Can I ask what sort of music (other than GnR tributes) you guys are using Chorus on? Any examples?
Bands like Warpaint use a soft chorus on bass, as do Tool in a more prominent way, as they do with a lot of effects on bass. For me, I wanted it for spacey ambient playing. Bands like Rage against the Machine used modulation on bass in a heavy way, it's just all about what sounds good to you I guess!

Just received a Boss OC-2 from Gaz. Came nice and quick, well packaged, fully functional and in good condition. Trusted seller

The shape... The finish... The price... Looking at all that gave me heartburn..
What would you guys recommend as a rather bright. shimmery chorus? I'm more into smooth than any sort of warble. More air than water. The first chorus (first fx pedal in fact) I ever tried, DOD Deep Freeze, is still my favourite sound-wise. I did have two however, and both kept having problems with the footswitch. Now I'm kind of looking for one to have it rehoused, but they go for crazy prices and the rehousing can get expensive too. Anything currently in production that can fit what I'm looking for?
The Earthquaker Sea Machine V2 can make some very nice shimmery sounds, it's perhaps the best chorus I've used for both guitar and bass I think.
It'll be fine...the pedal will take what it needs from the supply. The figure of 500mA is an idea of the maximum current it can deliver if needs be.
Sweet. That's what I assumed from the info given in the booklet, but thought I'd check. Cheers!

I have a Nordell Audio Power Core, great little power supply. It has seven 100mA outputs and one 500mA output, along with 3 higher voltage outputs which I don't use/won't use any time soon. My issue is I have/will have 9 pedals on my board. One can be powered off of my TU3, which leaves 8 pedals to be powered from the power supply(including the tuner) I'm wondering if it'll be safe to use the 500mA output for one of the pedals on my board, perhaps the TU3? The instruction booklet states that this output produces a MAX current of 500mA and is 'suitable for digital effects'. I know nothing about anything circuit/electrical related so I was hoping someone could give me their opinion as to whether this output is safe to use on a standard Boss pedal(that will be powering another pedal too) or another pedal on its own?

In the last week I missed out on two OC-2s due to them being on the wrong side of payday, they both went for £40 as well... None on Gumtree, the others on eBay are going for much more/end too soon... Anyone have one for sale/know other good sites for finding pedals? Uk based preferably, I know of Reverb.com but they tend to be abroad.
I don't know that any modulation pedals can 'suck the low end out'... probably why you hardly ever see bass-specific modulation pedals. I've not tried the bass chorus deluxe, so can't comment on that, but I have the MXR analog chorus, and it sounds great. I have absolutely no desire to try the dearer MXR pedal...
I've yet to see a bass phaser, but seen plenty of bass choruses and flangers. Tried a few choruses in the past that make the tone too 'thin' and jangly, but the Analog Chorus doesn't seem to do that. Thanks for the feedback!
The PQ3B Isnt a true parametric, the bandwidth is fixed for each of the 3 ranges.I prefer the GE7B ovr the PQ3B there is more overall sound shaping ability.
Cool, I ended up getting a GE-7B actually. Works really well after my dirty pedals.

Something I hear a lot is that bass-specific pedals are often a waste of time/extra money.. So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the MXR Analog Chorus and the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe. The Analog Chorus is a bit cheaper so I was wondering if it'd make much difference getting one or the other with bass. Will the Analog Chorus suck the low end out? Any tips or suggestions welcome.
In my experience, Octron really is a great piece of kit and the Oc3 is not, I moved it on fair quickly. I dont know about the OC2. The COG pedal is really neat, the sub octave filter is immense. If you can, check out the COG & OCTRON, both mint pedals.
Yeah they both sound great, only issue for me is that I've shelled out a fair bit on pedals recently and an octave is more of an 'extra' than an essential, which is why I'm leaning more towards say the Organizer, as it can do some more interesting things perhaps. I'll likely save up a bit and perhaps investing in a nice octave like the Octron/Cog at a later date I think
-
The Organizer has a bit of latency (delay between the dry and effect signal) that you may or may not tolerate, or even see as positive part of the effect - personally I hate that aspect of many digital octavers/pitch shifters.
I figured the 'Lag' control on it allowed you to control that aspect? Demos seem to imply that anyway...
The Organiser is not designed to be a true octave in the sense that it sits right on top of your note, the lag is part of the design, and can be adjusted with the lag control. My opinion of it is that it sounds awesome with lag (if that's the ambient vibe you're going for), and a bit strange with no lag. If you want a conventional octave, don't buy the Organizer .....but it is awesome. OC-2 wins everytime for my money, although interested in trying the new iteration of the EBS, plus the COG T-16, octave might change everything Si
The thing is I'm really not sure what I'm after.. I might get the Organizer for now, as it seems quite multi-functional, and if the Sub isn't quite 'heavy' enough I may look into a OC-2 in the future. Seem to always been some on eBay going for reasonable prices.
Octron tracks well and upper octave is killer. t65 has better more flexible low end and effects loop to mix in parallel sounds. Depends if you want nasty octave (octron/ Cog) or clean octave(Boss MXR) I guess.
This is something I was discussing with a friend, the way he put it, you can always add dirt.. I'm not sure, like I've said above I quite like the look of the Organizer and have found one for sale... hmmm
-
Ok so after doing some research, seems like the Organizer rules and does some really cool things.. Going to watch some more demos and what not when I get home but I think that's what I'm after
-
I've also heard the EarthQuaker Organizer is a good pedal.. Anyone here tried that?
-
Hi, I want to get an octave pedal but I can't decide between the three listed in the subject... Each have pros and cons so any suggestions, tips etc? Alternatives also welcome.

Best/favourite strings for StingRay (4-string)?

Anybody have an opinion on this?....
