1. As I've discovered I'm more of a P bass guy, here goes up for sale my 64 Reissue American Vintage Jazz Bass. Bass is in great condition with no dings or scratches to speak of. Only thing I've changed is the crappy brownish plastic Fender pickguard as I've upgraded to a beautiful real celluloid tort guard made by Montreux Japan. This one has the more desirable reddish tone very true to the original. It's lightly and tastefully reliced and goes really well with the beautiful three-tone sunburst nitrocellulose finish. The bass plays really good, has a straight nice neck, low action. It weights 9 lbs and balances great. The tone is a bomb. Fender really nailed it with these Pure Vintage 64 Jazz pickups: best tone I've ever heard in a jazz bass, including my long gone original 68. The bass is very resonant. The very thin nitrocellulose lacquer surely plays a role in this, plus it looks really good, with a depth and richness of colours that's unreachable with poly finishes. Bass comes with the original blonde vintage G&G case, pickup and bridge covers, vintage cord and vintage strap, unopened set of Fender flat wound strings, all the papers and candies. Price is Eur 1500 (which is 1335 GBP at today's exchange rate) + shipping. Shipment will be around 80 Euros for most European destinations with Air Courier, including insurance. That's to give you a basic idea: final shipping quote will be determined as you let me know your ZIP Code. Thanks for looking. Here comes the eye candies:

7. 1.25 was at 12th fret with a capo on the first fret. It was around 1.5 at last fret. No buzz at all, neck was very good and same for the fret work. It just had a poor setup... The pickup alignment issue could be solved by simply taking the pickup off and reinstalling it properly. I didn't do it because I had already decided to give it back for the aforementioned reason, buying an AVRI 64 jazz. It went back to Coda-Music.
8.
... They seem to hold their value pretty well, though, ...
Respectfully disagree on this. ... A new latest generation Laurus 5 strings goes for around 4500 euros in italian shops, but if you go to www.mercatinomusicale.com youl'll find several used ones in the 3000-3500 region. Which drops down to 2000-2500 for the previous generation (not much difference with the latest) and below 2000 for older models. But more important, it's not something that you'll move quickly. Fact is that those things, at least in Italy, won't sell easily even if you throw in the package a "succulent young lady" for free (paraphrasing Frank Zappa here).
9. I had one of the first (see earlier pages of this thread). Returned it. Reasons: It was the perfect bass for making me realize that 13 years after selling my 69 jazz bass and having passed through way too many boutiques 4, 5 and 6 strings, it's time to return to a passive 20 frets 4 string Fender. £ 900 wasn't a bad price for experimenting with what seemed a nice and fairly decent assembled instrument, especially given the relic nitro finish, the 64 reissue pickups, the stacked knobs layout, and it could even ended up staying if it wasn't for: 1) The finish, which looked totally flat. I'm sorry but, vintage, abused, full-of-mojo finishes don't look that way. There's always something shiny somewhere, and different degrees of matt.. On the Flea it's way mono-dimensional. 2) Speaking of QC and having read here about poor soldering and screws that come off the wood (which makes me wonder about the quality and seasoning of said wood) I'll throw mine... bridge pickup was screwed in while it was aligned against the top side of the pickup slot. As a result the "room" that was supposed to surround the pickup ended up all in the lower part of the slot (sorry guys, can't explain better in English). That made impossible to center the G string between the poles of the bridge pickup, despite the threaded bridge saddles. So I returned it and bought an AVRI 64 Jazz which should be here in a couple of days. I've owned an AVRI 62 P bass in the past and I'm still kicking myself for having let it go, so I'm pretty confident it should be what I'm looking for in terms of quality. That said, the Flea weighed and balanced nicely, had a really nice neck and sounded pretty good too. It's a nice bass for the money but you better try it in person or buy blindfolded from a shop with a good return policy. Ah, Fender ... you better fire the guy that performed the setup on that particular bass and hire me. It took me three days and a total of two full turns on the trussrod to straighten that banana neck that left the factory. Now the guy that will buy it will benefit from a 0.25 mm relief, a 1.25 mm action and a lemon oiled fingerboard courtesy of me!

11. Mine arrived this morning. Purchased from Coda-Music. I pulled the trigger while the bass was still in their warehouse, they shipped literally two hours after I clicked the "send payment" button on their site. It arrived still in the sealed/unopened cardboard they received from the Fender, so they didn't even inspect/setup the bass. You bet ... has the typical Fender factory setup which is too high for my taste. This evening I'll give it a full setup, then I'll write more in detail. First impressions are however positive. Mine weight in at 9 lbs. So not the featherweight that some of you had but I find it very well balanced and I really prefer my basses to have a solid feel. My ideal weight is in the 8-9 lbs region, so this one check the box for me.
12. While my GAS attack for a road worn jazz was at top level and I was searching everywhere for a used one this thing popped out ... priced less than its three-tone-sunburst and fiesta red counterparts, with the stacked knobs configuration and an unusual color that has a charme all of its own. None here in Italy but I couldn't resist and took advantage of the fact that Brexit isn't yet reality. Money went to Coda Music couple of minutes ago :-D
13. Miguel is simply one of the best guys you can deal with. I bought a nice Alembic from him and dealing with him was just a breeze. Nice communication, bass shipped very fast. Highly recommended A+++++++++++
14. A quick look around the net made me realize a few things. Fodera actually has a used Standard Monarch 4 at $4850. New Emperor 5 Standards here in Europe go in the € 6500 region. I played this bass last evening and, boy ... do this sound sooo good. It's also very clean. I'm actually in the process of re-thinking my whole instruments needs. I am still willing to sell but I'm not going to undersell an instrument of this caliber. So, new updated, increased price bump.
15. I'm sorry I'm not set up for making soundclips at the moment. You could check Matt Garrison demo here: http://fodera.com/emperor-5-standard/ Anyway, plenty of E5S soundclips on youtube. This bass was designed to offer the widest tonal palette possible on a 5 string. It's equally at home in a lot of musical genres and this is no exception. It's #77.
