1. I dont want to burden you with any more sh*t... But..... I am not sure Audacity works with the Asio drivers on your Audio interface... The Asio drivers will work great with Ableton.. So might be worth grinding on with Ableton.. You can use the standard Windows drivers with Audacity... [ MME ] But you will play a note.... And not hear it until Sunday afternoon [ Latency ] There is a small work around though.. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=29042 As i said 4 pages ago... It might have been better to have spent your dosh more wisely.. Like In the Boozer.. Pick on some stranger just reading the Sun... And start banging on about Audio interfaces, Audacity, Asio drivers..... He will be impressed. Garry

 6.
For bands it's just the problem of playing the same tune every gig for 30 years ...
So you really are an old git. I know i am.. someone chucked Nivram at me the other night. And i still remembered it... F**k..how sad is that! Garry
 7.
So you need to be reading ahead of what you're playing, glancing back and forth across the stave all the time.
This is very important....For When you get in the real world. [ If thats your aim ] This is going OT a bit. But there is more than just reading the notes. You always need to be looking ahead. For Keychanges, Sometimes tempo [which might also mean looking at the conductor - MD] Time changes 4/4 -3/4 etc. Tricky phrases just around the corner. Signs and codas, repeat signs. Playing straight 8's as a swing feel. [ Lazy arranging ] And as always, a good pair of elephant ears. Reading in your bedroom is one thing - [in the heat of battle something else] You wanna sound like you are in the same band as the others. eg..all phrasing together. Oh and you will need a extra pair of boxers first time out on a reading gig - session or whatever... Appart from that...its easy. Garry
When I played jazz 'live' on The National Lottery Live, I was miming to a recording of myself (as played by Carol Kaye) but the images on screen bore no relationship whatsoever with what the audience was hearing. I guess its an occupational hazard with TV work.
Just done a BBC mime over the weekend.. When i turned up...One tune had been changed... You guessed.. Using a Bass synth...
