1. very nice bass. i wish my car wasn't in the garage getting repaired cos otherwise ide buy it. Does Dirk Lance (ex incubus) use he 5 string version of this??
2. i hate to say this but i do admire good drummers. I always take the mick outa them, as they do me but theres nothing like playing with a really good drummer. Ive played with a few bad drummers before and it made everything so hard. Also ive been playing drums for about a year to improve my rhythm when playing. I found learning drums made me a beter player and i recommend that other bassists should do it to.
3. i like everything to be smoothed out alittle bit especially when im slapping as i do play some embarrassing loud notes every now and then lol. cheers for the info, i will look it all up.
4. Hey, in my old amp (hartke HA3500) i had a built in compressor. I no longer have this amp as im now using a GK 700RB. This amp doesn't have the compressor built in like the other and im kinda wanting one to use. I was wondering if any of you guys would be able to advise me on whats good. Any help?
5.
Gallien-Krueger 700RB-II and 2 GK Neo 112's. Sorted.
The 700RB-II is an amazing amp. I love mine. Ive never needed to turn the volume up more than a like a quarter so it is a loud mother******. Its definatly worth looking into/trying out. I run it with a GK 410RBX. wish i got a neo now though cos the RBX cabs are bloody heavy.
6. you've done some really cool stuff. and you done alot of session work to.. tis impressive and it makes me want to practice alot more
7. ohh and dont wear sunglasses. it looks stupid... its not sunny and it dont look cool. thats a point why is it only bassists that wear sunglasses on stage. ive never worn mine on stage
8. ive been given a good piece of advice from my lecturer Tony Butler (Big Country... remember them? he also has played session for Pete Townsend, Roger Daltrey and various other big names). He told me to always walk around the stage before you go on. make sure all the cables are taped down etc. and also check the stage as when Tony was on tour with big country he once fell through the stage lol
9. make the most outa your sound check. make sure you are 100% happy with everything before you go on. and dont piss the sound man off... dont worry about mistakes you make as know one in the audience will pick up on them. And most of all HAVE FUN!
10. my 1988 thumb cost nearly 3 times that. if i had the money ide buy it for such a low price as that
11. mines neck is really nice. i love the fact it has 26 frets even tho i dont see why anyone would want that many. i like the look of the silver bridge and hardware on yours. I had to take mine into repair the other day and i was left to play a Mexican fender jazz. I hated every min of it couldnt stand then fender cos it seemed so much harder to play.
12. i played a new 5 string thumb in the shop. They sounded similar but i found they had and totally different feel. I found the newers ones lack the build quality of the older ones as they are all more mas produced now. The newer ones are lighter tho so i guess they will be easier to play in a set.
13. Heres my 1988 Warwick thumb NT. Love playing it loads. the only thing i can fault it for is its weight.
14. i highly recommend GK cabs. They're pretty ugly but they have tons of balls!
15. Jimi Jazz. He plays for G-love and special sauce. I saw them support Jack Johnson. Didnt think much of JJ's bassist, he did the whole root and 5th things all the way through every song. Yeh Jimi Jazz is an amazing upright bass player. Everyone should check him out. Also Stuart Zender (former jamiroquai). He currently playing for Mark Ronson
16.
Hi, i have a warwick flight case if your interested that would fit your bass
U have any pictures?
17. Hey lets keep it short. Im looking for a hard case for my 88 warwick thumb bass. Im not sure where to look. Ive tried but cant find anything. Anyone able to point me in the right direction??
18. definetly get the oil finish. Waxing doesnt take long and its definelty worth spending 15 mins a week waxing it. They look beautiful with the natural finish.
19. I haven't quite owned as many as some of you. Then again ive only been playing 6 years. I started of with a Encore P bass. I got this brand new for like £150 (around $300) with a practice amp, lead, strap and gig back. Not bad price for so what i got. Used it for a couple of years and i still have it. It no longer gets played though because i ripped the frets out after discovering Jaco Pastorius. This kinda made the bass worse. My second bass was an Ibanez SRX500 custom. I bought this when i decided i really liked to play and that i wanted to upgrade. I really enjoyed playing this bass for a while, but after a while i decided it didn't feel right to play and it didn't have the tone i was after. At the same time i bought a Hartke 3500A amplifier with a Hartke 410TP transporter cab. Next i got a really cheap acoustic bass of ebay..... Not worth talking about. For my forth bass i got a Fender Mexican Jazz. There's something about the Fender Jazz which i love but for some reason it doesn't tend to get played much. Next i got a beautiful Fender Jaguar bass. I got this after getting into music college. I saw it in the music shop and had to part with my hard earned money for it. It took a while to get used to all the switches but it serves its purpose really well. Finally my most resent bass is a 1988 Warwick Thumb NT . I bought this from Mansons guitar shop. This is where Matt Bellamy and John Paul Jones get there guitars made. Playing it in the shop i had a massive grin. Worth spending the money on. I play it all the time and it always makes me happy when i play it. I recently had the circuit changed in it as the old one stopped working for a while. Love this bass and i will never be able to part with it.
